Thanks so much for taking us along. I live these ports. Your photos are amazing. Cheers. -
Reminds me of the "Bedbug letter." The story goes that a train passenger discovered bedbugs in the bed in his sleeping compartment. He sent a letter to the train company. He received a letter with a semi apology stating that they took this matter very seriously and had taken measures to prevent this from occurring in the future, yada, yada, yada. Attached to the letter was an in-office memo directing staff to "Send the bedbug letter."

I seem to remember a sign saying, "Adults Only ". The sign was ignored and unenforced.

My deepest condolences. It reminded me of a cruise we took a few years ago. We were at a fixed-time table for 8 in the main dining room. It included a single man (late 70's to early 80's) seated with us. As we were introducing ourselves, the gentleman told us that he had lost his wife about a year previously. They had taken many cruises together and their daughters had encouraged him to cruise again and get on with his life. He was a learned, articulate gentleman with a well-developed sense of humor and appeared to be a man of means. Toward the end of the cruise, he told us that his daughters would be picking him up at the port. We seriously discussed having a couple of the younger ladies at our table join him when his daughters picked him up - one on each arm - with him saying, "These are my new friends." I don't believe we did it due to flights. But, we spent a delightful evening planning it - including him guessing what his daughters' reactions would be. Cheers

Cruise ship excursions have to start leaving late comers behind.

I agree. In Nov, we took a HAL tour to Muir Woods and Sausalito. We were about 20 minutes late starting and leaving from each of our two stops because of the same person. She came on the bus with no apologies. Just a big smile as though we should all be grateful that we could breath the same air and share a bus as with her specialness. Cheers. -
OP, I fully appreciate your position of not wanting to be "that person" by talking to GS. However, the person who brought two barking dogs on a cruise ship is, in fact, "That Person!"

Last month, we were on the Koningsdam and encountered a couple who took their "obviously non-service dog" everywhere in a doggy pram. We've seen service dogs on ships before and have friends with them. This was not a service dog. It was a yappy, little canine. Not what I wanted to experience in the MDR at the next table.

I found this to be true when I booked through the big box store where you get $1.50 hot dogs and coke. It was in the fine print that I didn't read. Cheers

We got off the Koningsdam a couple of weeks ago. We thought the food in MDR, lido and elsewhere was very good to excellent. The choices were slightly limited but not a deal breaker. I especially enjoyed the seafood, beef and Italian dishes. We've been averaging 2 cruises a year since the early 80's - mostly on Princess.

We were on this same cruise. Wonderful ship, great staff, very good to excellent food, shows that we saw were entertaining. There were a lot of kids having noisy fun and most of the time we could find quiet places to enjoy the sea or read. Cheers.

We are on the same cruise. We will be taking the same approach in hopes of avoiding the "hurry up and wait". We are thinking we will drop our bags at the port and go to the wonderful SD waterfront and one of our favorites, the Brigantine Restaurant/Bar, right next door. Cheers.

A friend who used to work at a local auto dealership tells the story that while working late one evening, near closing time, they saw a man looking at cars. No-one wanted to go see him. My friend said, "I'll go." Turns out he sold a car that night to one of baseball's best hitters and all around good guys ever.

We leave on our first post-covid cruise on HAL in 36 days. We've done a couple on Princess and participated in the "bid to upgrade" process. When can we expect to receive offers to bid on upgrades? Thanks.

When I booked our cruise, I was told I could have 8pm or any time dining. Not wanting to wait 1/2 hour or more, I was told to go to the dining room as soon as possible after boarding and secure reservations.

Thanks for asking. Coming back. First time since early 2020. Can't wait!!

Hi. I've searched this forum and am unable to find current parking options for Cruising out of San Diego. Any help is appreciated.

A few cruises back, I witnessed a large family reserve 2 (two) loungers per person - one in the sun and one in the shade. When they were in the sun, if someone asked nearby cruisers about the shady lounges, they would reply, "Those are ours!" Eventually, someone got a staff member who had a discussion with to the entitled folks and stopped this for a while. The only part I was able to hear was that they were on vacation and had paid for these loungers. Personally, I prefer a quieter, less busy and less dramatic environment with an ocean view. Cheers.

I board the Ruby in two days. My app shows a QR code with the instructions, "Proceed to Green Lane. Have your Medallion and travel docs visible upon arrival." Cheers.

Yikes. Reminds me of someone trying to parallel park without success.
