  1. Just off Magic. No notice of the CC meet and greet. GS said not enough signed up. This is untrue as we had over 35. She offered to allow me to speak to events coordinator. I said how would you know how to notify anyone as it was the last sea day already. I guess if they had the list they could have sent a message to the cabin phone or something but that would have about 3 people show up I suppose.

Same thing happened in January on Pride. I think the sour puss of a CD didn't feel like doing it as we had well over the required number.

If they aren't going to provide this stop offering it. And if you do sign up, please attend. It's embarrassing when staff goes all out and only 6 people of 38 show up.

I agree if you are signed up for the M&G you should at least make an appearance. But sometimes they schedule these things in the middle of the day.

  2. just did it in march, at the miami airport, you can check in, at the carnival desk, when you reach the cruise terminal you go into a separate line as your documents are stamped airport check-in, then didn't care, or question about our check-in times, but your room may not be ready until 1pm

I will be flying to MIA April 22,17 and this will be the first time using the airport check in it may be quicker than using the VIP check in at the port. I'll see which way is faster.

  3. We have missed two docking ports because of winds. You have to realize that these ships are just like a huge sail. When the wind hits them on the side, it's very difficult to maneuver them up to a pier. It all depends on the Captain, if he thinks he can dock the ship without any mishaps.

The Captain also keeps an eye on weather reports for later in the day. If he sees that there is rough weather scheduled for departure time, he may skip that island to avoid the bad weather.

I agree the Captain makes the final call but if the weather is calling for 25-30 mph winds I doubt the ship will port.

  4. Not me. If it were to be taken over by the state for a historical preservation not a business maybe. The ship is beautiful but the expense to fix up is to expensive and rests on the owner. 300 million is a big sum for what appears to be a money pit. I feel the ship is doomed for the scrap heap. Another part of history lost because of neglecting maintenance for 50 years.

I agree besides why doesn't Carnival corp sink the money into the cost of the repairs. They have the money.

  5. "In big poop" = delay of 0-2 business days while you get an emergency passport. Not fun if there is an emergency. People need to weigh the risks for themselves.

I started using a passport when the requirements changed requiring a passport to enter the U.S. by air(if not from a U.S. territory)

  7. We need that snow back here in Denver. We haven't seen snow in weeks. Forecast says 70s and even a couple 80s for then 10 days. Mountains are getting snow but Denver is dry and needing the moisture. March is Denvers snowiest month even. I work for the highway dept. and we all were looking for a good month of plowing snow and getting snow plow pay rate so I can pay off my cruise. I miss my truck. Lol.

That's too bad I would take 70 degrees in a heart beat. Here in Ct we had sleet and rain on top of 10 inches of snow well it all froze. It is a mess. Flights at Bradley airport are gradually re zooming but many are cancelled(outbound). You can have your snow.

  8. I also had a no sodium diet in the MDR and believe me it was bland and did not taste good at all. Keep away from the buffet food with the exception of the salad, buffet food is loaded with sodium. Guy's burgers can be made with no salt added so can the french fries. Both my parents had high blood pressure so I know where you're coming from.

However it can be controlled to a point with diet and exercise(cardiovascular). I go to the gym and take the stairs as much as possible. Have a great time.
