  1. I bet if RC let you browse cruise planner options prior to booking, there would be an interesting shift in number of bookings.
  2. Not a clue what is in their contract and you are right, some contracts allow for price adjustments. But I’d find it hard to believe RC supplier contracts allow for adjustment. Based on sheer volume, RC could go to another supplier if a contractor pushed terms unfavorable to RC.
  3. Not how contracts work. The supplier can’t raise prices if they signed a contract.
  4. To he honest Fanatic, RC doesn’t let you look at the prices of their excursions until after you’ve booked and paid your deposit so it isn’t exactly a “choice.” Keep in mind RC implemented reduced service after passengers had booked. No grandfathering. It is a tired argument that inflation has pushed prices up. What we see in the grocery is not what RC pays. They have long term supplier contracts that do not fluctuate. It absolutely is a money grab. No they are not operating a charity, but they are washing out the brand. RC used to set itself apart from the competition. Now, they are becoming just like the whale tale and folks will start shopping around long term. Not exactly a good model for sustainability.
  5. I bet that consultant also had competition in their area keeping his fees in check. Not the case with CoCo Cay. It is either buy it or don’t.
  6. In all honesty I agree with you. However, I could look at it from another point of view. Does anyone actually believe $4k for an OWC at CoCo to be reasonable? Some might, but I think most believe it is unreasonable. I see people here say “if people are dumb enough to pay it, why shouldn’t RC charge it.” Well if RC is dumb enough to not have adequate checks and balances to ensure they don’t advertise unrealistic deals through their planner to the masses, why shouldn’t they honor it. This wasn’t a one-off, they’ve done it before. RC has been steadily raising prices on fares, drinks, specialty dining, excursions, gratuity fees while stripping food options, reducing housekeeping, etc. It is hard to just chalk this up to a mistake when they’ve seemingly not cared about the value of their brand or passenger loyalty. Lately, they’ve been in a money grab. Why shouldn’t folks stomp their feet and push back?
  7. Do you believe Royal Caribbean is maximizing CoCo Cay paid excursion revenue? For example, when two ships are visiting CoCo Cay with the same arrival time on the same date, why are the paid excursions (cabanas, jet-ski, Up Up Away etc) not available for sale to passengers on both ships at the same time? For example, my ship, Oasis, visits the same day in July 2023 as Independence. Jet Ski, Up Up & Away, zipline are not and have not ever been available for sale on my planner. However, my friend sailing on Independence has them loaded to their planner. There are spots available to purchase but because I am on Oasis, they are unavailable to me at this time. Same with cabanas. They all show sold out for Oasis but many are available for purchase by Independence passengers. I called Shorex and was told none of these paid excursions are available. It is frustrating when I am trying to purchase something that is clearly available but withheld for sale to Oasis passengers. To Royal’s credit, they do provide a great deal of free options for passengers to enjoy if the company cannot or will not sell the priced excursions.
  8. I don’t remember seeing an outlet for UK adapters, only standard two prong EU outlets. If you look at a CLS video on YouTube, there is a TA (Danny) that always points out outlets.

  10. It is my understanding that some folks never receive an option to bid on Royal Up cabins based on the TA used to book the reservation. Some big box TA’s use group rates which from what I have read are ineligible for the Royal Up program. The website won’t tell you that…you just get the default “check back 30 days out” message. I’m not sure if this applies to your situation but we have received the option to bid for every reservation we’ve made since RU started and there is nothing special about us, lol.
  11. OTW cabana on my July sailing is $3499. CoCo Beach cabanas ($1999) and all other cabanas $1099) are sold out. Get back their investment indeed.
