  1. You'll disappointed with this. NCL hands down. Royal has started using the haven concept on the newer ships. Who cares, lol, your going to have a blast.
  2. Site wont let me see your attachment but CK night 1 is a great choice. I hadn't realized you are from west coast and this is your first sailing from Texas. Let me to be the first to say "Welcome Y'all".
  3. Yep. Included. It pops up on your bill and your genie wipes it away. Definitely do it. Also don't forget the suite sun deck. We always have the most fun up there.
  4. @HBCcruiser, not sure what dinner schedule Wendy has set up for you but if you like steak, night 1 @CK is usually filet night. Imho, CK does a better filet than the specialties and is not to be missed. We used to avoid CK for dinner when sailing Star but once we had that filet...always CK for Filet night, lol. Also, we love breakfast en suite when we are Star on sea days ( we usually order from CK menu). Be sure to set up Starbucks (included) coffee delivery every morning otherwise you'll end up with room service coffee. Good but who doesn't prefer specialty coffees. Ask Wendy if you can schedule activities around breakfast. Oh, one last thing, Escape Room looks like ot is open on Harmony again. Be sure to get her to schedule it, it is a blast...included with Star. Ok, one last last thing. Watch Aqua show once from ATS and once in the actual theater...different experiences. Also, Johnny Rockets milkshakes are great during the Aqua Show when in the theater. Dont be afraid to ask.
  5. The best tip I can give is be very up-front with your genie about things you want. Don't worry, I am sure they have heard every request under the sun. Some things they can do some they can't but definitely ask. We've had some genies that were better than others anticipating our wants. We learned to just be up front, especially in pre-cruiese communication and there is never an awkward day 1 learning curve. You like peanut M&Ms at all times, ask. Like wings, a taco bar and chocolate strawberries in the room every afternoon ask. They will give you a pre-cruise beverage menu. If there is something you want ( my kid likes Dr Pepper & root beer), ask. Some things can only be sourced prior to departure so if you let them know early, they can make arrangements so you can get it brought on board before sailing. Also, take full advantage of laundry. We pack light knowing we can send laundry out daily to be cleaned/pressed.
  6. @HBCcruiser Just curious if you will be able to see total eclipse Monday? We are pretty excited down here in south Texas. We are west of San Antonio and are in the path of totality. Houston and the gulf aren't in the totality path but it would be amazing to see even a partial from the ship.
  7. Yes. Attendant will service twice daily. We haven't noticed any reduction in service/perks.
  8. We've stayed in UPS twice. Our first time in the suite, it was noisy from above from kids running and jumping late at night. We were Karens and called CS because it was nearly 1AM. It stopped within minutes. Didn't hear it again the rest of that sailing. Our second sailing, we never heard any noise at night.
  9. We've been so disappointed in the Music Hall's use on Oasis (x2) We absolutely loved it on Anthem but it seemed to us that it was always closed for events like silent party on Oasis. Such a great venue, wish they'd use it better in Oasis.
  10. You could book private on our Oasis sailing three weeks ago. We opted for the private lesson time, much cheaper at $79 pp. I think the private 1 hr session was about 550. They were both in the CP about a week before sailing.
  11. We were on Oasis last week. Although we did not do it, we saw families come in CK and order to go with no issue. They just plated each dish with a cloche like room service. Families were seated with drinks until their order was ready. Also, if you like steak, I recommend filet night on night 1. Imho, CK blew the specialty restaurant filets away.
  12. I think they were referring to # of cleanings vs # of rooms: 74 stewards x 16 cabins x 2 cleanings/day = 2368 cleanings 54 stewards x 25 cabins x 1 cleaning/day = 1350 cleanings. This still may not equal exact numbers of cabins on Explorer but still a good wag. Also, it looks like you pulled your stats from Cruisemapper. RCI officially lists on their site 1,715 total cabins with 125 being suites. I’m not really understanding the need to fact check the numbers in someones post imho but if data analysis to prove someone wrong on a cruise board is your jam, at least pull your numbers from the official site.
  13. This has to be an IT glitch, right?
  14. Ask to speak to the resolutions dept. we had this issue before and resolutions made the change, no problem and no extra cost.
  15. Hi @Bcshur, i am on you sailing! I wouldn’t sweat it, there is always plenty of standby seating for the big three shows. The comedy show is pretty limited since it is in Blaze but they have not opened that for reservations, if they do at all. That may need to be reserved onboard. You may want to check as soon as you board to see about reservations if you really want to see the comedy show. Reservations for our sailing opened 1 June which held to the first day of the month prior to sailing trend. Royal’s email came out really late. For future cruises, recommend you keep your eye on the cruise planner closely after online check-in. Also, since you are here on CC, join the role call for your sailing. Folks are always checking and someone will post when they see things like reservations open. Have a great cruise.
  16. Other than the suggested attire on the website, do you have any documentation that specifically prohibits shorts and crocs? In all your many cruises, on your many lines, how many times have you confronted someone directly in the mdr about their attire or hairy legs? How many times have you asked the maitre d to move your party due to someone else's attire or hairy legs? My guess is none. My guess is you say nothing and just whine under your breath and come on these boards and opine anonymously. If you really felt this strongly, you’d have the courage to address this yourself, in-person like a big boy or girl.
  17. Surely you don’t mean dressy croots.
  18. Seems like a nice backhoe like that could be useful in this thread..you know, for digging themselves out and what not, lol.
  19. I know right! How dare folks with lesser means save up and treat their families to a vacation on our RC ship, in our mdr and ruin our experience. Truth is, I see people in Coastal Kitchen every night in shorts and no one bats an eye. I guess I’ll just have to continue to slum it in CK with the other suite riff-raff.
  20. I spy pants in that picture; totally acceptable for mdr unlike those filthy shorts 😀
  21. There is no dress code. Take a gander at your RC FAQ copy/paste in post #25, it says suggested, not required. Me personally, I wear pants but I respect other passengers right to choose, not some silly dress suggestion. It is their vacation too.
  22. I’m failing to see the connection to this thread. Was it the pants that got them into the Ivy’s?
  23. I’m lazy so remind me, is the Love Boat era the one wear folks minded their own beeswax and didn’t let what others are wearing affect their vacations?
