  1. Because both the ship and the aircraft are in motion; neither is stable. Additionally, you have the 'human factor' thrown in there, you know, the ones who the rules don't apply to them. Safety first. Or guests questioning why. Also, IF there is a collision, the area the aircraft and ship meet, there doesn't need to be a search and rescue effort in that area.
  2. Traditional, everything, is on it's way out. Princess HAS to change to survive, and is reinventing themselves. Growing pains is what a lot of older folks are experiencing with this. But the younger crowd (anyone 60 or younger) are the future of cruising. Personally, we don't want to eat with strangers or see the same waiters every night. We also don't enjoy a two hour meal every single night. We like the freedom to have a reservation at a different time each night, and look at the menu on the app, prior to dining. Even the dessert menu is there. The imaginative food options are much better than ever; most of the boring plain meat and potatoes is gone, and the flavors are fresh and portions are a healthy size. With excursions coming back at different times, or ships activities, we can change times throughout the voyage. We love Princess Plus, as everything's included. Wish the tips were all inclusive for EVERYONE as part of the base fare, because it's dreadful seeing lots of the old timers lined up at guest services taking their tips off. Hopefully that's a change we'll see in the future, Princess Plus being the standard fare, and Premier as the add on. If you look at the current media campaign, both TV and print, you'll see nightlife and younger passengers, reinvented cuisine and a cruise line for the future. If you are unhappy, there are other cruise lines to choose from.
  3. Absolutely suggest you go, the future is never guaranteed, especially these days. We were advised if there was a problem, they could move us. We asked at guest services when we spotted a smoker below us, we did not know it was crew in quarantine until guest services told us they were confined to their rooms for up to two weeks, depending on what country they came from when they joined the ship.
  4. Not sure about Diamond, but Discovery and Grand smoking was allowed on balconies for crew who were quarantined. We were Mid-ship both cruises, and crew was below us on Deck 9 and 10, with a faint smell of smoke from time to time. Just close your balcony door, and perhaps enjoy the open decks.
  5. But you stated kids were occupying all of the hot tubs and you never were able to go in. Multiple kids everywhere 24/7? What about adults filling hot tubs and children not being able to use due to crowds? There is an adult area called The Sanctuary or there is Hollywood Pool Club, which has no charge. And no, you are implying there's a problem with that. 60 year old man is most likely the dad of one of the kids, at least on our cruises.
  6. Have you seen the newest television commercial for Princess? Not a senior citizen in sight. Couples (both straight and gay) are represented. Would same sex couples in what your implying is your hot tub bother you too? Same with the last two editions of Princess Circle magazine. Children's activities are there too. Sounds like Princess is 'soliciting' for new passengers, lively ones to add energy to the ships.
  7. Our kids cruised during Covid and had a fantastic time!
  8. If you want new, book Discovery Princess which has Spotlight Bar and (newish) Rock Opera.
  9. Marcus, previously on Enchanted Princess, will be the new CD on the Discovery Princess.
  10. No because they make money by upsell on the ship. It is negotiable though. Go the day after embarkation and see what's left if you aren't willing to pay the going rate.
  11. Amen! Wholeheartedly agree! Same with adults talking throughout a production show performance as if they were in front of a television. One of our sons commented afterwards sadly they wouldn't survive at a Broadway theater performance.
  12. We've been taking our children to specialty dining since they were very young. They've never ordered from a kids menu on the ships. Ever. We receive better service and a more pleasant meal in specialty dining. We often dine on land at restaurants which do not offer kids junk food type fare, so they have very advanced palates. Nobu has been their favorite for years, followed by Patina, which was a victim of the pandemic, sadly.
  13. If you're in the business, you should be familiar with multiple cost increases? Should Princess just keep absorbing the increases or pass to their customer? You can cherry pick quotes, but turn a blind eye to the elephant in the room, cost increases of bringing a product to market. How interesting... If you are concerned about what you're drinking and nickels and dimes, bring your own cases, which being in the business, you get them at cost.
  14. Know delivery schedules for every truck and ship? If you're in the business, you should be familiar with multiple cost increases? If it's so important to you, there is a solution. Get Premier or pay the difference. They're not going back.
  15. It doesn't matter how much of something is produced if there's a break in the supply chain.
  16. They can easily change out what is readily available for the non-specific wine category for Plus. Agreed that there's a larger inventory of the less expensive wines, and they are easily changed out. Maybe they're giant wine bags? Princess doesn't have to let us know as it's house wine. Again, if it's super important to you, you have a choice in packages. What has changed in the last 20 years you ask? Everything has. It's the new normal. Inflation. Supply Chain. The fuel prices to bring the wine and supplies to the port have doubled. Compare the fuel prices, also wages in California have gone up too. These costs are passed to the customer, Princess, who in turn passes it on to their customer- YOU. Princess STILL has very good value. We've upgraded to wines over $12 at Vines, and paid the difference ALWAYS. It clearly states in the new package this is something you can do too. How many cruises have you been on since the pause? We've been on many and lots of missing items in the beverage department, especially wine and International Cafe beverages.
  17. Still rolling out ships too. This is a solution to the out of stock problem. Have you cruised since the pause? We've been many times, and Princess is always out of beverages. International Cafe is just an example of we didn't get this delivery, maybe tomorrow stores will bring- multiple cruises. Same with wine which was listed on the menus. Well, now there's not a brand name attached, so problem solved.
  18. Two different packages. It doesn't matter what it was called, you're still getting the same description, which is drinks up to $12 in price.
  19. Plus is just a package, and beverages up to $12 are included. Vines may become premier priced wines only, or bottles. WE don't know the future. Whatever Princess has done in the past, is in the past. Princess has also NEVER been through a 1.5 year pause, right? They still aren't cruising the Asian market and have yet to start sailing all ships. They need to make all the $ they can. The new menus shown are just that: GENERIC - characteristic of or relating to a class or group of things; not a specific brand. Bagged wine allows a large volume with less packaging costs and shipping costs, as glass weighs a lot. It also keeps longer than an open bottle of wine, as it can't 'turn'. You also have less behind the scenes manpower in opening and keeping track of bottles.

  21. Our hope is these are sorted on the app by package - easy to scroll the list of cocktails without needed to look at pricing.
