Nothing has changed from last week. My parents had a nightmare last week.. Go early if u are in norfolk..period.

Well if u see the thread started a few hrs ago it took someone 3 hrs to park, get the shuttle and get onboard.. Nothing has changed if u go late..I'm sorry to say but that place is too small..go early or wait it out in line.. It's the size of the port...it cannot process 3800 passengers in a timely manner..

Go early, regardless of boarding time..if they aren't enforcing it just go..

Evidently once you were in the terminal they were not allowed water bottles.. By that point they were already hot from the massive line that stretched down the block. My mom is 77 and was in need of water but couldn't use a water bottle and surely couldn't get out of line to find a fountain..she literally asked an employee for some water and was refused. Me being younger, always getting to the port early, and usually cruising in February, that's never been an issue. Even I would be irritated if that were me.. I would like to believe Norfolk would get better as the weeks go by..

And is now home to the Magic. My parents believe Carnival bit off more than they can chew with the size of the magic as Norfolk has always had smaller ships.. My parents followed rules and arrived at 2 pm which was on their boarding pass. They didn't get on until after 4. It was a free for all as many many people were let on out of order. My mom used the word "disaster" when talking about boarding. Also there was no water allowed in the terminal. It was hot, lines were long and people were irritated..then they were not allowed water. That In itself is ridiculous..After this experience, They will never sail out of Norfolk again. And just to hammer home their point my dad told me that the ship had to leave late because of the delays getting people through.. I am interested to hear responses from folks who were there.

Totally agree..I would try anything and probably like it. But I have another half. It is what it is.

To cruise with carnival or just recommended.. I have one but my friend doesnt..we are just going to Bahamas and back from Norfolk

We have 17293 booked..corner spa...yes people can see that balcony if u Lean on the edge..if u sit back it's fine.

I have always wondered if people intentionally book a cruise to end up jumping off. I mean its a lot of work to plan. i would think alcohol is usually involved and a big enough disagreement comes up that makes one actually think that jumping is the best alternative. i did know of one guy when i was young who got high and thought it would be fun to get up on a balcony rail on the 5th floor of a bldg to do a dance or something. he was buried 5 days later..so sad.

Well, I'm sorry you weren't around to confront the maitre d since he refused them service based on attire.. You could've told him to myob..and I could not care less if I know you. Buh bye🙄

Well they were kicked out for their attire by the maitre d. He has the responsibility to the whole of passengers and not to a couple morons. There is a line you don't cross. You obviously don't have any..I'm thankful you weren't in charge.

I sit with my wife only..had a dreadful experience with 2 girls from Ohio state at my table.. They were drunk, loud, wore short short short clingy dresses where you could see thru to the thong.. The maitre de was good enough to switch us. Later in the week they were escorted out of the mdr...

Great idea..I would do it in a minute but my wife says no.. I think they are fantastic..

This was Norfolks first cruise in 2 years..I think they were obviously not prepared..

My parents followed their documents and were there at 2. But people with late boarding appts showed up extremely early and were granted access to check in.. Evidently a diamond level traveler was infuriated because many people were jumping her in line... My mom was hot and asked for water and was refused water...dad said if he would've known all that was going to happen that he would have arrived at 10... They are exhausted but enjoying the ship..

I'm just in the dark. Neither of them are answering or have sent me a text..since 2pm Hopefully they are kicking back on the ship..I'm getting irritated now.. My mom usually texts me continuously. My only request was to get a confirmation they were onboard.. Carnival can't help me...even though I have the booking and pin.. I just wanted to see if they checked in..

They've been in terminal on the second floor for exactly 1.5 hours... I'll try to get an actual report and pass it along..

Maybe...I would hope carnival wouldn't p.o. people trying to board...

For a 2-2:30 boarding time and the line seems to stretch a half a block.. I bet my dad is pissed..he thought most people would be on... That's what he gets for not getting his usual suite and bypasses the horde.. I'm sure it will move fast but I'm dying laughing inside..
