  1. On days when I was looking to alternative dessertdsd on the MDR menu, I would order the Banana Split from the kids menu. 3 flavors of ice cream on half a split banana with a lite drizzle of chocolate sauce. Simple and sublime.
  2. Yes. The Royal app has the children's and Vegan menu options in detail. These are not published on the MDR's paper menu. I wass ordering some of the Vegan and Children's menu options and my guests were like "Where did you see that!?"
  3. Yea, I don't really see a use for REAL ID now, other than to charge more for the drivers license. I can use my passport or military ID for most needs. I had to use my passport and SS card to get the REAL ID. Both of the previous IDs have more clout. It's like asking for a passport and SS card for a Library card and told the enhanced library card is only good at one library!
  4. Well, a rude security staffer would not find that funny... Where's your passport Bubba?
  5. Yes. that is exactly what I am saying. But you know, at 2 AM when I am checking in, that's what I found.
  6. When the cruise says "Hey do you have an Enhanced Drivers License?" and your state says "Hey, this is what we have for an enhanced drivers license" you take them for their word. Unless someone takes the time to clarify. To assume that people look up all the forms of ID out there is absurd.
  7. I don't know. I didn't ask any adults for their vax status. I heard a previous cruise gave people colored wrist bands to ID their status. We had no such mechanisms.
  8. From the Virginia DMV, their text implies REAL ID is an alternative to a passport. "If you do not get a REAL ID, you must have an alternate form of federally accepted identification (valid U. S. passport, U.S. Department of Defense ID, Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), etc.) to board a domestic flight or enter a secure federal facility beginning May 3, 2023. "
  9. Because the State of Virginia tells me REAL ID is the alternative to the passport and they have no other alternatives. Look up "Enhanced Drivers License Virginia" and you get Virginia DMV REAL ID.
  10. I checked in my wife, online with her passport info. Although I had my passport, I figured "Oh Cool! I can use the REAL ID instead!" Not knowing Enhanced was something else. Pity other travelers who may not have had any other forms of ID.
  11. I've search and Virginia only offers REAL ID which, as I found out, is not considered an Enahance Drivers License with their definition.
  12. Yes. Until now, I had not realized there are two different kinds of "extra" ID. Virginia has been pushing hard for their REAL ID as a passport alternative. Most of the validating documents are citizenship related. Did not know there was an ENHANCED ID out there. So when I did the check in and and it asked what ID I would use, I selected Enhanced Drivers License assuming that is what I had. Though I had my passport handy, it's easier for me to just flash my drivers license. The REAL ID is the only enhanced option for getting on a plane offered by Virginia and is accepted in all 50 states. So I assumed that to be the Enhanced ID. They should make the clarification on the registration. Do they care that 1/50th of their passengers may not have the appropriate ID?
  13. My embarkation would have been smoother if the Security at Port Liberty NJ knew the difference between a surge protector and a 3-prong extender. They confiscated this: Yet, they allowed this which was in my other bag: Go figure! I got it back at the end of the cruise. I saw it was keeping company with about two dozen surge protectors on their "naughty items" table.
  14. Embarkation day was OK, aside from confusion with Royal Staff over my Enhanced Drivers License from Virginia. Virginia's REAL ID is different from the regular drivers license because they have a STAR within a circle on it. The Royal Staffer insisted it had to have the word "ENHANCED" on it to be valid. This was out of Cape Liberty NJ, last week boarding Adventure of the Seas, 31 May thru 4 June to Halifax, NS. Luckily, I also had my passport! Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/drivers/#real_id.asp
  15. We just got back from Adventure of the Seas May 31 to June 4th sailing Port Liberty NJ to Halifax, NS. We had wonderful tablemates, and found that people are grouped by their vaccine status. So we had all been vaccinated at least twice. Unvaxxed passengers were relegated to Deck 3 MDR.
  16. Thanks! I didn't know that. Now, I'll have to make other plans!

  18. Has anyone gone to George's Island? It's right there in the bay. But I can't find if there is a ferry to go out there.
  19. I see the Bicycle Thief mentioned a lot. My wife wants to check it out.
  20. So glass bottles appear to refract the x-rays, and show and outline of the bottle shape. Looking for example of how plastic, or liquid refracts the x-rays. https://www.thenewsminute.com/article/drunk-man-inserts-glass-bottle-body-through-anus-surgically-removed-tn-125553 My guess is the mostly flat rum runner pouch does not defract the x-rays. Packing them in several layers of blue jeans creates some interference so the the liquid does not refract as much on the scanner screen.
  21. I think the Rum Runners are cool. I do wonder, "What about liquor already packaged in plastic bottles with plastic caps?" would those also be undetectable by x-ray?
