  1. As long as you meet the standard for smart casual nights you can be sure of being able to eat in the MDR. Princess requests that people adhere to the formal night dress code, but it is not required.
  2. I hate those lights too. I always wrapped some painters tape around an old gift card and packed it. It works very well and is much less likely to damage surfaces than duct tape. Last cruise on the Enchanted though, I put two magnetic hooks on the ceiling on either side of the closet light and used them to hold a black surgical mask in front of the sensor every night. It worked better for me since I like the light to function when we aren’t sleeping. Putting the mask up was easier for me than retaping every night.
  3. I have no idea. I recently met a lady who was extremely unhappy that she was told that she couldn’t wear her bathrobe to breakfast on a HAL cruise. Her logic was that the ship was her “home” while she was on board. I’d estimate her age as late 70’s.
  4. But you’re already booked for 5:00 every night? What would be different if it was in the traditional dining room? Are you sharing a table but don’t want to be with the same people every night or is it that you want a specific dining room? In any case, you’d have the same opportunity to rebook on June 17 that you do now or of course just cancel.
  5. I’m feeling pretty confident that there will not be enough spaces in the dining room for individual reservations to accommodate the demand.
  6. I think it’s very possible that those who are booked every night for the earliest times are very likely to move to traditional dining. Just moving them there might make sense. On the other hand why they think that people who reserved for 7:00 would no longer want to eat at 7;00 baffles me. i would have left all reservations not at the early or late TD times stand, only moving them to the appropriate dining room, then let those who want some different re-book. My guess is that the problem is that they have more reservations booked at those middle times than can now be accommodated.
  7. I can’t say I notice a difference in the size of the showers between the ships but the cloth shower curtains are much better than the plastic ones were. As for really tall people, I absolutely understand. A close friend is 6’7” and really doesn’t fit well in those showers. He only sails in mini-suites and up over it.
  8. My reservations are still there for sailings in October, January, and February. All are paid in full. I find the fact that they are cancelling all reservations rather than just moving them to the dining room for advance reservations incredibly frustrating. I wonder if they know that they have more reservations than they can accommodate?
  9. I know it doesn’t work for you, but the regular showers are okay for lots of people. She may be just fine unless someone actually needs to be in the shower with the kids. I can imagine it being pretty difficult with a toddler who can’t shower alone.
  10. Are you parked at the terminal or getting a taxi? Domestic or international, checking bags, pre-check? At a minimum, probably 4 hours after scheduled arrival. I’d feel more comfortable with 5 hours if you don’t want to feel stressed. Arrival in Brooklyn can be absolute bedlam. We arrived in a rainstorm in September and getting our car took ages.
  11. So glad you are happy with your cabin assignment and hope you’ll be pleased with the cruise itself!
  12. Unfortunately not all ladies clothing has pockets. 🙁 That’s one of the things I like most about the medallion. Wearing it on a wristband is so much easier than having to leave a key card somewhere when exercising or swimming.
  13. If you are told by a crew member to report to your muster station, you should definitely comply. The video gives instructions on what to do if the general emergency alarm is sounded.
  14. I feel badly for Princess staff and the passengers who are affected by others behavior, not the people who refuse to comply with simply stated policies. On the first leg, we were all awakened at 1:00 am because someone had decided to climb over their balcony railing onto the top of lifeboat 17 to stargaze. The captain had turned the ship around and were getting ready to make us all report to our muster stations at 1:30 am as they needed to be sure they hadn't fallen overboard.
  15. Interesting that you didn't see it. We were on the Enchanted from February 26 to April 6 and I noticed it many times. In any case, I don't believe the problem is that smokers don't understand the policy. As @justafem said, there are simply smokers who are going to use that area as a smoking lounge unless someone makes them stop. I agree with you that Princess does need to do exactly that. I feel badly that people refuse to comply voluntarily though.
  16. I don’t know if there is a sign stating the policy, but I do recall seeing a sign saying “no smoking when casino is closed” at both entrances whenever the casino wasn’t open when we were on the Enchanted this spring. The policy exists though and is clearly stated. I do understand the difficulty of enforcing any policy if guests respond to it by effectively saying “Make me”, but they need to find a way.
  17. Yes. It is there as soon as you connect to MedallionNet
  18. The Celebrity app works exactly that way. One passenger can watch the video and check the box that both have seen it.
  19. It’s shown in the app as soon as you board.
  20. The instructions in the video tell you to go to your cabin to get your life jacket and other items
  21. I’ve never seen mold. I do think the switch from plastic to fabric was a step in the right direction. Personally I also prefer glass doors though.
  22. I have often not wanted them mailed because we won’t be home to receive them. The wait has never been more than a few minutes, even in places like Australia where the majority of passengers pick them up. The only time it’s been an advantage is when there were dedicated check-in lines for platinum and elites. Showing it was a quick way to breeze through. Not sure it’s worth paying for though.
  23. Princess has a policy that states smoking is only allowed while actively playing at designated slot machines. Are you saying that smokers has decided not to comply with that policy? Will you also ignore the smoking policy in other areas of the ship? Do you smoke in restaurants, hotel rooms, or movie theaters?
  24. From seeing them on others, they look like fine quality. I just wouldn’t pay anything for it any more than I would a special looking keycard. Both just get thrown away at the end of the trip. I wish there were a way to recycle them! The only negative is for platinums and elites since they’d have to take the step of having their medallion scanned to show status if it’s required to enter a lounge or something.
