  1. We dearly loved Copenhagen. Flew Portland, Oregon to Reykjavik to Copenhagen on Iceland Air. Took the train from the airport and spent two nights before the Regal Princess cruise at the Andersen Boutique Hotel which is a short walk from the Copenhagen central train station. Wonderful included breakfast and Wine Happy hour. Purchased the Copenhagen Pass in advance and used it for the train as well as some included attractions. I would love to go back and spend several more days in Copenhagen.
  2. I'll be diamond on NCL after completing the Gem transatlantic next April and my DH will be diamond after completing the following Gem Med cruise so we are obviously NCL fans. Our first cruise was on the Grand Princess, followed by a Costa cruise and many NCL cruises with a Royal Caribbean cruise thrown in the mix. In 2007 we decided to do our first transatlantic and could find no NCL itineraries we liked. We did a transatlantic on the Regal Princess from Copenhagen to New York. We really enjoyed the cruise and would sail on Princess again if they offered an itinerary we couldn't find on NCL. The vibe on Princess was not stuffy. I'd watch a couple YouTube video tours of the Regal Princess to give you a good idea of the ship layout. We prefer layout on many of the NCL ships but it was fine for our cruise. Speaking of NCL, both the Dawn and the Star have some really good British Isle cruises next summer.
  3. I loved the original Creme Brulee but wasn't a big fan of the raspberry version....even though I love raspberries.
  4. Here are a couple YouTube videos for you ..... there are probably more. 1007 has the bed on the right as you walk into the room (my personal preference) 1012 has the bed on the left as you walk into the room The Sun club balconies previously known as mini suites are really nice. You would think they are on deck 10 but they are on 11. Stateroom numbers are 11007 and 11012 but NCL leaves off the first number on the five digit room numbers on the Sun.
  5. Have you seen this YouTube video posted by Bill Sklar after the 2017 refurbishment
  6. Here is link to a YouTube video Video provides great views of the ship including the stern.
  7. NCL Breakaway has balcony staterooms that sleep four. Two in comfortable bed that can be split if desired. One one couch that turns into bed and one in bed that drops from ceiling above couch. They also have connecting balcony staterooms but it might be necessary to book one adult in each stateroom along with minor passenger.... not sure about this if staterooms actually have a connecting door between them. Another option and one that can be fairly inexpensive especially with the occasional "kids sail free" promo is one of the category 05 Family Oceanview staterooms. No balcony but one thing I really like if four are sharing stateroom is the extra closet and the sliding curtain between the couch/pull down bed from the ceiling area and the main bed area. Here is a quick YouTube video by Magic Inspired Fan of one of these staterooms from sister ship Getaway. I think this is stateroom 5774, definitely not a Suite but nice roomy oceanview stateroom.
  8. Keep in mind that at least on Breakaway/Getaway the insides across the hall from the balconies do not open into the same hall ..... they open into an interior corridor. Example from deck 11 .... the solid orange lines are solid hallway wall across from balcony staterooms.
  9. The Free at Sea perks are based on your originally booked stateroom category.
  10. Pier 66 Bell Street Cruise Terminal Cruise Critic search can be wonky but google is one of my best friends.
  11. It is a total of $100 off shore excursions per day. $50 off for first person from Free at Sea and $50 off for second person from Free at Sea Plus, so an additional $50 off shore excursions if you already have Free at Sea on your booking. Solo travelers don't receive any additional shore excursion benefit from Free at Sea Plus.
  12. I haven't been in this stateroom but did find a couple Youtube videos. The first one done by Tie Drones shows the Spirit departing Piraeus in 2018. At 2:46 there is a good shot of last balcony starboard side. Balcony looks same size as those above and below it. However, this video was done before the Spirit refurbishment. Is it possible that additional staterooms were added starboard side on deck 10 towards the stern?? Cruisedeckplana shows 10186 to be a large balcony same shape as 10686 on the port side. Keith Jenner posted photos of 10686 above and there is an old Youtube video out there. I also found this Youtube video done May 1, 2022 by #TahitiOcean. At 1:11 there is a pretty good shot of the last balcony starboard side and it does look longer than the balcony just forward of it (note balcony door placement). Looks nothing like video above yet both ships show Norwegian Spirit.
  13. I should have said the usual CruiseNext promo is to be able to use two CruiseNext deposits for balcony and above for cruises booked six months in advance. What doesn't come up too often is being able to use two CN for any stateroom, any date. That is the promo that ended July 1st. Current CruiseNext Doubleup offer is shown in Terms and Conditions of link in post #2. It shows booking window ending August 31, 2022 so it will be interesting to see if they change terms or just continue it as is. CRUISENEXT DOUBLEUP! OFFER Booking Window: July 1, 2022 – August 31, 2022 11:59pm EST Offer Details: Book a Balcony or above stateroom on any sailing booked at least 6 months in advance and apply TWO CruiseNext, CruiseNext Haven or CruiseNext Lite deposits. We had four CN that NCL kindly extended to expire towards end of 2024 and end of 2025. On June 30th we used two to book a Transatlantic sailing April 2023 - booked interior and will upgrade with NCL Worldpoint points. Also used two to book an oceanview on a 5 day Trieste to Trieste.
  14. If you google CruiseNext NCL you find https://www.ncl.com/cruisenext The promo has not been extended. It comes up once in a while, not sure how often.
  15. Nice to see this is back ..... from Dr Google BOOKING WITH CRUISENEXT DEPOSITS LIMITED TIME OFFER Book ANY stateroom and apply TWO CruiseNext, CruiseNext Haven or CruiseNext Lite Deposits. Book any category stateroom on any sailing. CRUISENEXT DOUBLEUP! 16. Someone posted this link a while back .... I tried it and it worked for my cruise https://upgrade.plusgrade.com/offerNCL/ For some reason when I click above it doesn't go anywhere but if I type the info in a browser window it takes me to a page where you put in your last name and reservation number.
  17. Thanks for the various comments. I hope those of you who also contracted Covid are recovering. I'm feeling better and will continue to take it easy until symptom free. Our best friends and traveling companions both tested positive today. They thought their symptoms were just the usual after cruise colds but tests showed otherwise. DH is still symptom free and after his negative test yesterday will not test again unless that changes. It is interesting he is the only one of the four of us who uses a CPAP machine. His thought is that maybe the extra oxygen was helpful. Who knows??? We're looking at various future cruise options. One tempting me is the Spirit in late September out of Seattle. We were on the Spirit many years ago and I'd love to see her as she is now. Seattle means we can drive and park across from the port. The 11 day itinerary is really good but 11 days has its drawbacks with Covid due to more chance of illness showing up while you are still on the ship. Would also like to know what the Sun will be doing this fall after her Alaska season.
  18. We got off the May 21st Norwegian Bliss 7 night cruise round trip from Alaska on Saturday. We have all had four doses of Moderna vaccine with dh and my 2nd booster administered two and a half weeks prior to the cruise. We are all in our 70's and two of us have had heart issues so we still social distance and wear kn95 masks when shopping or in public places. We were extra careful before the cruise because a negative test is required to board the ship. Getting the negative test was such a relief. We drove just under four hours to Seattle and parked across from the port. Traffic was light and we would choose same method when sailing from Seattle again. The Bliss was probably at 65% capacity for passengers and fully staffed with crew so service was even better than usual. Although not required and we were certainly in the minority we wore masks in elevators, the theater, the buffet, entering restaurants and any areas where people were congregated. Friday was our last full day and I was very tired. Our entry into Victoria Friday night was delayed due to rough seas (only one day of that) and clearance to debark took longer than usual so a lot of us who had shore excursions were crammed together in the elevator lobby. Saturday morning woke up with a scratchy throat and some congestion. We did early walk off the ship taking our luggage with us which was absolutely great. No lines, no waiting. We were on I-5 heading home by about 7:25 am. Stopped at Burger King for breakfast sandwich and coffee. When home I unpacked and then laid down on the couch and slept for 6 hours. Woke up with very stuffed head, sore throat, chills and so so tired. Took a Covid test Sunday morning and it turned positive in about 4 minutes. I do feel somewhat better tonight, not quite as stuffed up and throat is much better. DH has had no symptoms and tested negative today. Our best friends who were with us are testing tomorrow.... they have some symptoms but think it is just their usual after cruise cold. They as well as us are quarantining at home. None of us are sorry we took the cruise as it was just what we needed. We dearly love cruising and it has been such a long two years ..... there are some great deals out there right now but with Covid numbers picking back up and so many airline issues making plans is difficult.
  19. It is 1:30 and we are seated in Savor. Drinking Cabernet and waiting for crustless quiche and risotto Prima Vera We drove from south of Portland and drive was uneventful. Parked across from the ship. Line took a while to actually get inside but once we were inside and answered sapphire to latitude status we were checked in with no waiting at all. We were wearing masks and some others were too but majority unmasked. So happy to be back onboard a ship. This is third time on Bliss and we can’t wait to show sailing companions around.
  20. We are sailing on the Bliss (assuming our covid tests later today are negative) this Saturday. I just got off the phone with the NCL Accessibility Department (1-866-584-9756). I was told they are no longer supplying extension cords because theirs kept disappearing. We can bring on our own extension cord for the CPAP and cord can be either with or without surge protection. I thought there was a rule that one or the other was not allowed but gentleman I spoke to said that is no longer the case. He said there will be no problem in getting distilled water once on the ship. Said to just show the cabin steward the CPAP machine and distilled water would be provided.
  21. Try using https://upgrade.plusgrade.com/offer/NCL/ to check your reservation for upgrade eligibility. Someone posted this back in February and I tried it on my reservation and it worked.
  22. There are four family suites with balconies on the Star. They are port side 12510 and 12512 and starboard side 12010 and 12012. Here is a very old (2012) short Youtube video of 12512
