My guess people rarely give up really nice extended balcony rooms, unless it was a really amazing deal. I have had a few really nice extended balconies. People never give those up. I wasn't able get one on this cruise. I've checking but not luck yet...

That's what they consider an extended balcony.... Not much of an extended balcony. I've done extended balconies on the sides of the ship and they are quite nice. That just looks like a regular balcony.

The only lateral move I would be interested in is an extend balcony..... Thanks for the info.

That cruise we did with Holland was back in 2015. So what they are doing now or Carnival is doing may be different. The person with Carnival I talked to a few months ago would note it on our account is what they said. Now whether they did this is another story. My guess they say a lot to make people feel "special". We paid $600 for the Holland upgrade from standard balcony to a "lower level suite" on Holland which was still great for us. Saved us $400. So I was just wondering what Carnival was offering for upgrades to suite lasted minute. If it's about 400-600 we would take that offer for this cruise. "IF" Carnival calls us which I give 90% or lower they don't...

Yes, but also had Carnival do this a couple of time with us. We decided not to take the offer at that time... It doesn't always happen and I don't always request... Plus I never said anything about a list they keep. I have no ideal that they do keep one and I doubt it. It never hurts to ask.... I also wrote a letter to the Captain on one of our cruises to have a dinner with the Captain (Carnival)... Guess what it was honored. The main question I had was what Carnival was asking for upgrade costs. Only one person answer my question... Sorry about mention about putting in the request for an upgrade.

I didn't find it anywhere. I was working with a PVP at Holland and asked about upgrades. We did get a call but missed it and missed that one. Then a few weeks later since she knew I interested and called when she knew a room became available. We took that offer.

By the way I meant "put in a request". I have done it before on Holland. You just tell them to put in your account you are willing to do an last minute upgrade. It worked on Holland, not that we do this all the time. Now it totally up to them if they call you. But at least they know you are interested in doing so. The person I talked to Carnival a few months ago said she would "note" it in our account. Who they choose to "give" the deals is up to Carnival..

What were they asking for the upgrade price?

We are booked in a standard balcony. I put in a request for an upgrade offer to a suite. I'm wondering what has been the offers from Carnival lately on upgrades from a balcony to a suite? We sail in Feb and the final payment date is in a few days.

"If" your MIL really needs to stay connected to family then use the social plan. My husband and I are Android users but some of our family are Apple. We use What's App sometimes to be in communication. Either way call Carnival and ask what will work best for her. We're paying for the Premium Wi-Fi mainly for business, if we didn't have to do that we would do the cheap plan.

Yes you can. But as other have said on the outdoor areas where it is allowed. Hubby has cigars and I some times join him. Pipes are welcomed there.

Does Costa Maya have taxi tours of the town and outside area? We have done the Ruins and are not beach or party people. But would be interested in a tour of the area from a local. Any good local tours?

I have found tables for 2 being every close together depends on the age of the ship. Older ship have the table closer together versus newer ones. We have had table where they are VERY close together and other not. We're Platinum and when it's just hubby and I, we always try to get a table for two. We so far haven't had a problem doing that.

We just dealt with this in a different way. We have 10 family members traveling together. Everyone was supposed to book early dinner time. A few book anytime and the "smart" ones book early dining. Well when it came to linking the reservations it didn't work and early dining was filled up. I called Carnival. Everyone that book early dining moved to Anytime. Then we reserved an early dining time for the whole cruise. Plus one of the couples book through a TA and not Carnival so made it more interesting to get things linked up. If you can get the other people to move to Anytime then reserve a time it should work. All rooms need to be linked for dining.

I think things are getting more relaxed on most cruise lines. The only one I have been on were people dressed for the occasion was on Holland. I also have seen people turned away in the main dining room even for lunch. We haven't cruise since Covid, so haven't experience what is like now. We will be sailing Celebrity and Carnival this year. It will be interesting to see what happens with theses two different cruise lines. My guess people are more likely to be turned away from the paid restaurants then the free dining room. Even "land" restaurants aren't as formal as they used to be, I'm talking about the 5 star restaurants.

Thanks for the updates. I have already decided to go Premium. If they are using Starlink for Premium then that is a added plus... We're still waiting for our Starlink.

Thank you, we will be in the Caribbean. I think we can upgrade once on board right? I'll search the forum for this. We have gotten the internet on board before for this, just can't remember what we did. It's been a while since we have cruised.

He doesn't use webmail. He has his own system Chaos Intellect that does his email management for years.

We are trying to decide which internet package to get. My husband is an structural engineer and his clients will send PDF plans as attachments, 3-7 pages each. Even though we will be telling everyone not to email us with plans, we will most like have someone send us something when he checks his email. We will not be streaming or doing video calls. We can't completely disappear for 8 days. Which internet package would be best? I'm thinkin the Premium, but if we can do the cheaper one that would be nice. We will be on Celebrity Equinox.

When are the formal nights on Equinox. I went to book an excursion and said it was a conflict with our dinner time. We will be going with a family good and don't want to book an excursion that goes passed the formal nights or what every they are calling them now.
