I'm so glad that there is a picture for Civitavecchia (I couldn't find one with a ship in it) as, believe it or not, it is our 10 year old son's favourite port.

We always have a simple but enjoyable day out there, mass in the morning for me then we meet at Mastro Titta Pizzeria for lunch followed by an afternoon using the lido at the Water Polo club. Happy memories!

I agree - last time we docked in Civitavecchia we didn’t want to make the long trip to Rome so decided to stay local and have a stroll around there and it’s absolutely lovely 💕

I'm booked on Allure OTS for April 2021. In the hope that it goes ahead (come on....surely????...9 months???)....

    I paid £531pp with $25obc each (£1062 with $50).

The price has increased to £556.50 with $75obc each (£1113 with $150).

What to do..... change to the new increased price? I think it's worth it... an extra £51 for an additional $100obc....what do you think?

Cancel and rebook for an extra £28 ($100 is worth approx. £79) - not for me!

Presumably a copy of your cruise invoice showing the date of your cruise and a screenshot of the information from P&O website about cancellations should suffice. It seems your employer is being very unreasonable given the circumstances though.

I have to agree about the employer being unreasonable - do they not watch the news? 🙄

Royal wouldn't move, because too far off to Sept! Their answer push it too Oct! Pretty pathetic Royal wouldn't honor to move to Feb @ same price!

Royal can't say they'll be sailing in Sept! They can't gart. we can dock back & I doubt they'll have the food or real staff in Sept!

They haven't a gar. we can dock back & go through a process if C-19 is on the ship! I can't go through that! I have a dog & scripts that I need! Bye Royal! l

    Eh? 🤯🤯

It is a lovely dream, however we are on 14 Nov, and still not confident even that will sail.  If P&O have already cancelled 15 Oct, and they suddenly create another cruise to fill those dates, I'm sure that won't be a good PR move either.  There would be uproar.  How would you feel if someone cancelled your cruise, then let it sail a day later with a whole lot of new passengers? I'd be amazed if they do this.

They haven’t cancelled a cruise on 15th October, they have cancelled the one starting 10th October (which was the one I was supposed to be on). It wouldn’t be sailing a day later, it would be 6 days later - and if they can fit in a cruise sailing on 16th to 24th (when the first scheduled one is supposed to begin) then good luck to them. Nothing to stop the original 10th October people booking onto it. 😀

  6. Hi Tox,

I also had a cruise booked for October - I called P&O’s customer service number (0345 355 5111) and switched mine to a sailing next year no problem. They transferred my deposit and my new cruise was available on the personaliser within 15 minutes. It was really easy! If there are any good offers available on your new cruise, ask for them too 😊

Recently cancelled our cruise and lost our single trip travel insurance £250.

Can you claim any of the premium paid back? Assuming you haven’t claimed on it, I’m sure some places refund a percentage of the price paid if you don’t need the policy anymore? 🤞🏼🤞🏼

I decided to celebrate a milestone birthday for my wife (don't ask which milestone) by taking her on a cruise on the Oasis.  We enjoy travelling with friends, but also enjoy travelling with each other.  (Actually, I can only speak for me.  While I am an old boring accountant, after 36 years of marriage, I never tire of HER company). We told our friends about our cruise in case they were interested in cruising and celebrating her birthday with us.  Since we decided somewhat last minute (last minute for a cruise) and most of our friends are working, no one had the flexibility to join us.

We typically like to cruise in a balcony cabin.  For us, it is the right mix of cost and benefits and typically at a price point that we are comfortable with.  I received a RoyalUp email a couple of weeks ago and, unbeknownst to my wife, I decided to bid on a Sky Class suite.  As justification, I told myself that my wife will only turn ?? once and I think she is worth it (yes, the irony does not escape me that I, too, will share in the benefits of a suite. but that is my story and I am sticking to it).  However, being the frugal accountant that I am, I only bid a low amount.  According to the needle scale, my bid had an extremely low chance of being accepted.  After submitting the bid, I thought nothing more about it.   Low and behold, my bid was accepted, but I decided to keep it secret from my wife until we got closer to the trip or ideally, when we boarded.  I am terrible at keeping anything from my wife.  She frequently knows what I am thinking before I think it, so the latter was unlikely to happen.

As our trip approached, my wife talked about our cruise with more of her friends.  One of her friends decided that it sounded fun and decided that she and her husband would to join us on the cruise.  (for those of you that have not been married as long as I have, you know you did good if your wife talks about it like that to her friends.... pats self on the back..).   I do not know her friend's husband, but I am looking forward to meeting someone new and sharing the cruise experience with another couple.   When we travel with other couples, we do not expect to spend every minute with them, but typically enjoy spending part of a sea day, some meals and seeing shows together.

So, here is our first world problem.  We have Sky suite benefits and they do not.  On the Oasis, this includes the suite sun deck, Coastal Kitchen, the suites lounge,  "VIP seating" for shows and a special beach area on Labadee.  Should we plan on forgoing some of these benefits so that we can spend time with our friends?  If the suite part of the sun deck is not crowded, is it strictly forbidden to invite non-suite guest? what about the suites area on Labadee?  or seating for the shows (I would feel snobbish if I abandoned them to go sit with the "Suite People", but many of the shows are accepting no more reservations)?  Are there any of these benefits that we can invite guests to "tag along" with us?

How have others handled a situation where some of your party has sky suite benefits and some do not?

You sound like a very lovely husband 😊😊

Will be on royal Caribbean anthem of seas at this port in late may..

I was shocked how much the Eiffel tower excursions are!? close to $700 for 2 adults and 1 child.

is there better things or cheaper ways to do this? any experienced suggestions/ thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks

    I would 100% say to visit Honfleur - it’s a stunning little place 😊

  10. I think sometimes you get the ‘sale’ emails even though your particular cruise is not included in that sale - the sale may be ending in 12 hours but this time yours isn’t included - that happened to me before - I got all excited but when I looked the prices were no different 😂😂 You also might find that one day the prices on your cruise planner have dropped but you didn’t get any ‘sale’ email, so just need to keep on checking! And you can cancel and rebook anything you do order through your cruise planner really easily 😊👍🏼👍🏼

We’re going on Britannia next month and went in to the travel agents to pick up our tickets today. When we got home we noticed our cabin has changed. We had a superior balcony cabin and now have an aft suite. Very delighted and just hope this virus doesn’t stop travel. I did read that Britannia has a problem with smoke at the back of the ship but who cares eh, we’re delighted. Even more so as we got a price to upgrade on this very cabin 2 months ago and decided at £2,300 (if I recall) we’d pass.

just need to read up and see what perks a suite offers 🙂

Wow that’s fantastic! Enjoy it! 😊

Would be nice in a way if we didn't have to pay extra but we couldn't be that lucky!

I keep telling myself that I have always wanted to see the blossom in Japan which is I guess this cruise is aimed at but the other half of it,Hong Kong & Vietnam were stops on our last cruise in October 2019,really enjoyed them but were really looking forward to the stops on the 5 night cruise which were new to us!

That definitely would be great if you didn’t have to pay, but I know Royal never misses a trick when it comes to money 😂

I too would love to see the cherry blossom but I understand about wanting to go to the other new places, rather than places you have already been to!

I hope it works out for you - keep us updated! 😊
