I wonder if P&O marketing have got things right at last. I'm booked on Britannia but have not received the email.

Anyone booked on a staycation cruise and HAVE received the email advising them of the cheaper prices?

I had an email from P&O yesterday advising that the price of my staycation cruise has been reduced and so they have reduced the balance I owe accordingly 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

  2. So I have a bit of an update - I hope it helps! 😀

    Previously from AllClear:

Thank you for your patience whilst we referred this for you.

Please see the below questions and answers regarding UK cruises that have been provided by our Underwriters:

"To clarify, if a customer is going on a UK cruise, do we need to capture whether they are travelling through waters outside of the UK and include these destinations within the region of cover?
Yes, we should, otherwise the customer is at risk of not having the full claim / assistance covered. For your reference this is something we also try to capture when someone is travelling on their own boats.

Separately, if the customer is on a UK cruise and in UK waters only, would they have medical expense cover including airlift/repatriation?
Yes, should the evacuation not be covered by NHS/EHIC, we would take over and cover them."

Please ensure you declare all destinations, even if you are only travelling through the waters and not stopping at any ports. Failure to do so could impact any potential claim.

Please contact us again if we can be of further assistance.’

    I then went back with:

Thank you so much for this reply which is really helpful to me.

Can I just clarify that if I was to need medical treatment on board (at the on board medical centre), anything over the excess would also be covered, even if I was only sailing in UK waters?

    Thanks’

    AllClear came back with:

Any medical expenses occurred onboard a UK only cruise will be considered on our AllClear Gold and Gold Plus policy, but only if the costs are not covered by the NHS/EHIC. This will allow you to submit a claim up to the amount covered on the policy.
Please contact us again if we can be of further assistance.

So I think this might be the answer we wanted!

I hope this helps - I usually use AllClear anyway due to partner’s various medical conditions so they were my first thought 😀

If anyone sees any issues with this, please do let us know though! 🙏🙏🙏

Ah yes you're right, I ticked Spain, France etc, so Insure With Ease won't cover medical things in UK waters. Hmmm that's a real pain. I wonder why they (and others) do this?

I know it seems to be a real problem at the moment! Not sure why they will treat you if you are in, say, French waters and not UK! Surely there is no difference! 🤔

I use one of those Insurance search engines. I tick a) single trip b) £2m medical cover c) no medical probs d) cruise cover.

I ticked Eire, Spain, France, Portugal, Italy and picked a random 2 weeks in June. I'm 74 next birthday. The cheapest ones on the search list which also gave Enhanced Covid Cover were :-

    RAC at £81

    Insure with Ease at £86

Needless to say there was the caveat that  you won't be covered if the FCDO advise against traveling to these countries. How do these prices compare yours?

I think the issue is a lot of companies apparently do not cover on board medical treatment whilst in Uk waters 🤔

  5. Morning everyone!

I’ve received the below from AllClear today:

Please see the below questions and answers regarding UK cruises that have been provided by our Underwriters:

"To clarify, if a customer is going on a UK cruise, do we need to capture whether they are travelling through waters outside of the UK and include these destinations within the region of cover?

Please ensure you declare all destinations, even if you are only travelling through the waters and not stopping at any ports. Failure to do so could impact any potential claim.’

Hopefully this should help a bit, although I still don’t think we have the answer regarding medical treatment actually on board but whilst in UK waters! 🙂

With such a range of choices now becoming available, if you hadn't already booked and cost wasn't the primary factor, which line would you choose and why?

If I was sailing solo, it would probably be Fred Olsen, for the smaller ship and more interesting itinerary. If I was sailing with one of my cruise buddies it would probably be Princess for the value of the Princess Plus fare.

All points of view equally valid and hopefully no negative posts...😄

I want to go on one of each 🤣

  7. So, IF the issue of airlift from sea was sorted (and various posts above suggest we might be getting there), do we still have the issue of most insurance policies not covering any medical expenses incurred onboard if you are in UK waters? 🤔

That is very strange as I have done exactly the same thing with All Clear. I'm also waiting to hear from P&O if they think a policy from All Clear is suitable.

I know the insurance has to fit your requirements etc but it still has to accepted by P&O and I would rather have the battle now and not while trying to board.

Yes and me! It's so confusing!!  The last thing I want to do is get to Southampton and find it's not suitable! 🤦‍♀️

  9. I'm probably late to the party but I chatted with All Clear this morning, copied and pasted P&Os insurance requirements onto the chat, and the advisor said that this whole issue had been passed onto their underwriters to look at and that she was going to get back to me.  When I hear back I will update 😀

Thanks, I guess that applies to meal times as well. You cannot select a time or numbers at the table.

    Hi,

I don’t know about Britannia but if you are looking at sailing on Iona I’m pretty sure it’s all Freedom Dining so you don’t get set meal times. Also I imagine you would only be put on a table with your own party due to the COVID restrictions.😀

Good luck to everyone booking P&O tomorrow - I definitely want to go on one of these UK cruises, however it’s not really financially viable for me to book at the moment and I think once I’m ready to, they will be booked up - but please please come back and let us know how you got on and what you have booked! 😀😀

Okay so my willpower didn't really hold out and I'm now on the Iona maiden🤦‍♀️ 🤣🤣
