  1. There are a couple of small museums in Belize City. Traveler's rum is worth the tour. The cathedral in Belize City while not really huge is definitely historic. There is absolutely no reason why a tourist can't move around Belize City during the daytime.

the baboon Sanctuary is about a half hour from Belize City so would require paying for transportation. The Belize zoo is about a half hour from Belize City.

  2. Glad this was moved from the Princess board to this more appropriate location.

It is possible the fakes were from elsewhere. Many fakes come from certain Asian countries.

if you want to see fakes from China go to the massive flea markets in and around Miami.

Fakes are common in third world countries the world over. I'm surprised this needed to be posted

  3. So, while in Cozumel yesterday, I went to the MoneyBackMx kiosk inside DI. The gal there was able to pull up my account & told me “it’s in process.”..... She said it’s taking some time now to process the refunds & I should get my refund in four months..... I told her it’s a week shy of FIVE months now! She just said, all I can see is that it is in process. So basically no help. At least she was able to see my request. She said I could “call” the number on my paperwork if I wanted to know more..... [emoji15] oh well. Maybe I’ll get my refund eventually. I won’t be buying anymore jewelry in MX tho. Live & learn.

Have you had the jewelry looked at to see if it's at all authentic. There is an awful lot of fake crap in Mexico.

  4. We've found that cruise ship sponsored snorkeling excursions are typically over crowded, lots of beginners and the "guides" herd you in a group so that no one goes off on their own or slow swimmers don't get left behind. But in Belize, they are convenient in that you get picked up and dropped off at the ship without having to go into and come back from the tender pier.

There are private vendors offering snorkeling excursions, most tend to go to "Shark Ray Alley" which is between Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker, with lunch stops in Caye Caulker. Good snorkeling, lots of sea life. Cheaper than cruise ship but you have to go to the tender pier and may have to wait for others from other ships to show up before you leave the dock.

you are sort of correct but not really. https://ambergriscaye.com/pages/town/divesitesBIG.html

  5. I have been to Belize several times and never felt unsafe. Yes, crime does happen, but no more than in most ports and less than in most U S cities.

If all anyone knew of the area I live in was the local news, they would probably be scared to visit or go outside. There were 107 murders here last year, yet the city is on most “must visit” lists.

As long as people use common sense, don’t wander down side streets alone, don’t flash cash, jewelry, etc., they should be fine.

The homicide rate in Belize is tied to the drug trade. Tourists rarely if ever get hurt in Belize.

  6. I REALLY don't like the idea of being "stuck" on Harvest Caye and not seeing any of Belize. Is it worth it to ferry over to Placencia if only to rent a golf cart and check out the local scenery and food over there? Or would that just be a waste of money?

Placencia is a great stop but don't think for a minute that you're seeing Belize. What you're seeing is a tourist destination and lot of expats

  7. I'll be in Cozumel on the Glory in July. I'm looking for a cenote excursion, preferable one that allows you to float or snorkel through a cenote. Other than the secret river "Rio Secreto" what else is out there. Any recommendations are appreciated, if I don't find anything else I'll likely book the secret river through the cruise line.

You need to go to the mainland so you may not have time

  8. No way would I let someone stop me from making a small tiny difference while in port. I absolutely love this. Of course it would be awesome to help the local economy but purchasing things there but it’s just not practical in this case. Some people are just ignorant and want to cause chaos on the boards. Lol

You are a perfect example of first world arrogance

  9. What? Seriously? Wow. We will be there for a short amount of time. Who has tome to go shopping for those items there ? Not someone on a cruise ship. I will be doing the same. How can this destroy the local economy? Wow just wow

You should think before you post

  10. We generally bring many suitcases of items. We make a 1-gallon plastic bags for each child with over 20 items in each. It would not be practical to spend time shopping for things in Roatan. Also, we try to weigh the overall benefit. We have purchased some items in Roatan years ago. A tablet was over $1 - the same tablet that I can get at Walmart Back to School sale for 25 cents. We just took shoebox-sized containers for 60 children a few weeks ago. 87 cents each at Walmart, almost $3.50 in Roatan. I got backpacks on clearance for $3, they would cost $12 to $20 in Roatan. I understand that it would be great to buy products in Roatan, but the benefit of helping 60 children vs. 15 has to be considered.

Too an extent you are destroying the local economy

  11. We are very close to booking Carnival Legend from Honolulu to Vancouver April, 2019. Friends recently returned from Alaska on Princess and they were able to purchase (through the cruise line) a transfer from Canada Place to the Seattle airport. Does anyone know if Carnival would offer something like that. I will also post on Carnival and Hawaii boards.

    Take the train

  12. We will be on the Carnival Dream on 6/3 and are bringing school supplies to leave in Roatan. Now several other people in our roll call will also be bringing some for us to donate. Any suggestions on how to go about getting these to the Rotary booth in port? Is there anything special we need to do?

Buy the supplies locally. When you bring them in off the ship you are destroying local business.

  13. Google the oldest restaurants in New Orleans and go to them. Google the cocktails invented in New Orleans and go to those bars. Google Foods invented in New Orleans Like Bananas Foster and go eat them.

  14. Currently the airstrip is closed for repairs.

You can check out Tropic Air or Maya Air for more info.

  15. First. Never ever so much as touch the reef, that can be jail time if its severe. Fly either Maya air or Tropic Air out to San Pedro, rent a kayak and paddle out to the reef use a tie off for the kayak and go snorkeling. You can use Searious in San Pedro if you need a tour operator. . Given the number of non cruisers that go to Belize there is no way Carnival can corner the market.
