  1. Hi there, Where can you find information about the flight in and out of Caye Caulker?

There are no flights to caulker now but we are close to the time when the airstrip should be reopened. Maya air or Tropic Air should have current information

  2. seems like things to do are few if you have done tubing and all before. looking at coral breeze tour to caye caulker, anyone else used this? would it be better to book there? I see conflicting info on beach, some say no beach and I found info that said there is a beach. good food suggestions? hopefully no shortage of bars there too. Never stayed on ship at port before and don't want to start

The beach consist of several truckloads of sand brought in.

Horseback riding River kayaking ocean kayaking Flats fishing deep-sea fishing freshwater fishing birding chocolate making tours rum making tours beer making tours Herbal Healing tours snorkeling scuba diving museums the zoo are all things you can do

  3. Thanks for all of the replies. They have been really helpful. Any additional advice is appreciated. We will consider the snorkeling and Altun Ha in addition to Lamanai. We still have a few weeks to decide, but I need to start narrowing down my options. Thanks again.

Go horseback riding in the jungle. If you do wear ultrathon for the mosquitoes

  4. I really don't understand what you're asking. Can't find a decent restaurant? Asking about touring? Staying at Harrahs? Can't enjoy NOLA without a tour? My advice Is to get out and walk! Breath in the city! Take a river boat down the Mississippi and experience the history; walk Royal & Bourbon Streets & drop into the cafes for live jazz at any time of day and whatever you do be sure to line up for the Preservation Hall.

There are well over 900 restaurants in New Orleans so yeah there's plenty of food

  5. Excellent advice. Also Johnny's Po Boys on St Louis Street near Jackson Square (Get a roast beef "dressed") ; Mulate's across from the Convention Center ( try the shrimp Po-boy and the Gumbo); Fiorellos an Decatur Street; take the streetcar up to Camillia Grill on St. Charles or Pascal's Manale on Napoleon Street, or one of the many eateries on Magazine Street in the Garden District.

I like to tell people to Google the whatever type of food they're looking for whether it's barbecue or seafood or sandwiches or classic New Orleans or the oldest restaurants in New Orleans and that'll usually give you a top 10 list you can pick from my location

  6. I am going to be on the april2019 celebrity cruise to new Orleans and would love to participate with others to have a catered balcony overlooking the parade

I was on this site but for x reason all communications have gone from my computer

There will be 6 of us

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks

    Ken

  7.

What are "the Cays"? Sorry if this is a stupid question. :D:DThank you!

Caye Caulker and Ambergris Caye, Placencia also has great beaches.

  8. NCL Bliss, 2nd week of oct from LA.

are there Mosquitoes in either LA or Mexican riviera ports during that time?

wondering whether to buy Mosquitoe repellant or not?

(or sunscreen with Mosquitoes repellent built in, like Bullfrog brand)

You never want to get sunscreen and insect repellent mixed. The best insect repellent is ultrathon. It has the right amount of DEET and lasts up to 12 hours.

  9. Sunnyfun...While Geeko1 makes a couple of great suggestions, if you have other plans and are limited in time upon return, Wet Lizard would be my choice.

If on the other hand, you're just going to take a taxi around Belize City, Travelers Liquor is worth a stop. Plus there's a great restaurant near by, Belamari on Seashore Drive, near the original BELIZE sign. Ladyville may be too far away and all you'll find in Belize for beer is Belikin.

Belize City is about 40,000 people and the Belikin brewery is across town so it's not very far at all. While Belize certainly is not the beer capital of the world belacan makes about seven or eight different beers so your little on the incorrect side there. There are also several Caribbean beers that are imported into Belize.

  10. What makes you think we arnt going into Belize? It would be silly not to. But our plans will leave us with a little time after words to do something to celebrate the birthday. Did you have a place to recommend?

Take him on a tour of The Travelers liquor ( 1 Barrel) plant it's on the edge of town. and then take him on a tour of the belikin brewery

  11. I don't believe the captain is cheating the cruise passengers out of visiting the beautiful island. For one thing, Volcano's are highly unpredictable. That and they aren't making scheduling changes because of news accounts alone. They also listen to USGS and their warnings. It's sad for the local economy and people who have planned and paid dearly to see the island yes, but being safe has to come 1st.

There is absolutely nothing unsafe about the island of Hawai'i

  12. geeko1, Thank you for helping me understand your comments. I have a son who has a ranch on the mauka side of Hwy 11 in Mountain View, about 15 miles from Kiluea Crater. I was fortunate to visit in April/May and after feeling the earthquakes on May 3 and 4 I am more respectful of the effects of what is going on near Kiluea at the moment. Many in the area are needing to take precautions to protect their water supply, livestock, etc. You have possibly also been in this area recently.

My son has also been involved in rescuing horses from the affected areas and taking care of them at the UH Hilo school farm. Wearing masks to protect from the toxic gas is a necessity when going into these areas. For those that this is affecting it is not business as usual. There are sooooo many other things to enjoy around Hilo but if the majority of cruise passengers may be affected by the volcanic activity I do not consider it pandering to a few, but using common sense. There are residents in the affected areas that would not leave their homes to save their souls, and there are those that would rather be safe than sorry. No wrong or right!

I accept your opinion that most of the population is overreacting and not able to think for themselves, but...I disagree with you. I wish you many wonderful trips to the Big Island of Hawaii. Cherie

Tourism to Hawai'i by air travel has not been interrupted by the eruption of the volcano but then those are a different type of tourist

  13. There is absolutely wrong and right here- if you are told by authorities to evacuate, you do it. Plain and simple- no questions, no debate. Even if you are so stupid as to put your own life in danger by staying you have to think about the authorities who now have to put their own lives at risk to try and rescue you in the event of a disaster. Evacuation orders are given when there is enough time to safely leave an area without putting other people’s lives at risk. Ignoring orders is just selfish. Things can be replaced, people cannot.
