  1. There is certainly much adieau about nothing going on, and lots of speculation without analysis to reality.

    • I stand by my analysis.

I totally agree, not being able to book speciality dining

prior to sailing maybe a website problem , (not unusual for X)

I'm sure there will be availability on boarding, it may be that there are

No specials offered but sometimes that happens,

We are on a B2B starting feb 23 and guess what

No matter what happens I am certain I won't go hungry

and I am equally certain that we will have a great time

  2. I have done this many times.take the Toll road if you have GPS

there should be no problem, do you have a hire car, if so

hertz have a drop off right in Downtown, otherwise

Drop off your cases at the port and then take the rental

Car back to the airport and get the free shuttle to the port

With only your Cary on bags,

    So easy,

  3. Tipping is one of the biggest bones of contention for cruisers here in the UK . Routine tipping is just not part of the UK culture . Yes we may tip for exceptional service in a restauraunt but to tip someone for pouring you a drink or taking the screw top off your bottle is not the norm .

I have been on plenty of cruises where the guys from the UK have removed all gratuities . We do pay the daily gratuities but not for our 2 kids - paying 4 lots of tips for one shared cabin is just too much . Instead we give the staff in the kids club a tip in an envelope .

Many people who we speak to who may be considering their 1st cruise find it difficult to understand why a ship sailing all summer out of the UK has an American tipping procedure - they would much rather just pay a one off price and not have all this gratuities nonsense to contend with !

Maybe the Pick 2 of 3 Promotions or all 3 for CC or above on

European sailings is Celebrities way of dealing with this

Also to the original poster, surely if he wants to be a TA hw would

be aware that he could have cancelled and rebooked to take

advantage of the 123 go promotion, also there is at least

one online TA that always includes Free Gratuities with

    Most cabins above inside,

IMHO auto tipping is great but since Select Dining arrived

We always prepay anyway, unless I use the online TA

Where I get them included anyway.

  4. Thanks

It is 1 March so no new perks. I have just found out that I would lose drinks package as well that we currently have.

The Celebrity agent was trying to put the TA off doing this which I didn't like

You shouldn't lose the drinks package as you are paying for an

Upgrade, check it out with Captains Club

    Good luck

  5. Thanks so much for the quick reply.

Our captain's club status it not ELITE as our points from RCCL cruises didn't transfer over way back. Hopefully we will move up after this cruise.

    Any other thoughts or suggestions?

    Thanks again

If you contact Captains club with the date of your

First Celebrity Cruise and your then RCCL Crown and Anchor status

You may well find that they will adjust your status,

Hope it works out and if your wife is anything like mine

She will be happy going onboard, my wife has a saying

Tell me when and I'll pack, I know you always book

    something nice :)

  6. On January 4, 2015, my wife and I set sail for two weeks to the southern

Although they see tens of thousands of passengers come and go, there were a number of crew members who kindly remembered me. One in particular was a Jamaican whose job day in and day out is to clear dirty dishes in the buffet restaurant. When I half-joked with him that he should have a seat while I brought him a cup of coffee for a change, his reply was worthy of a hug. He said he works so hard so that maybe one day his children can be passengers on a ship like the Eclipse.

As I said in an earlier review, if the Eclipse is the stunning body of Celebrity, then the people like my hard-working Jamaican friend who inhabit it are its heart and soul.

That's why I love to cruise with Celebrity

  7. Why not have one last try and call Captains Club,

    (have your Number at Hand)

Explain that it seems others have had the benefit of the promotion

,and you you feel a little aggrieved that it seem you

are being penalised for booking directly and not through a TA.

Add politely, that booking direct means more Profit for the

Company as they have no Commissions to pay to the TA.

Might work might not but as you are happy with whats happened

    you have nothing to lose.

    :D

  8. As has been said you should enjoy the Summit,

Noticed that you enjoy the Spa, have you thought of an Aqua Class

Cabin, you would dined in Blu then which

Is more like a speciality restaurant.

The Summit was our favourite ship until

We sailed on the S class, but she is still a beautiful ship

  9. Thanks for all the responses. They are helpful and I will see what room they assign us. I hope they are kind as we gave up a concierge room with an extended balcony.

I know dining in Blu is fantastic but

was the switch worth it, those huge balconies

    are great

Hope you get a good cabin, assigned #1558 which was

a really nice location, the cabin next door has the washing ladder

    Parked

  10. We have never attended the elite cocktail party. So if Celebrity was to make any changes it wouldn't bother us.

I think that the vouchers for drinks are the way to go,personally, once the drink packages were introduced it sort of does away with the 'Perk'

It was nice to meet fellow cruisers in the Sky lounge but there are so many

Elites and above sailing on most cruises these days (doesn't that say something about how good sailing on Celebrity is) that nearly every sailing is coupons,

And as most have the drink package why go ???

Anyway the Happy Card as described by one of my Canadian friends

to me is the best thing Celebrity has introduced , apart that is from the Wonderful

People who always make my vacations special

  11. I've read the terms and I don't see any reason why pretty much all of the Caribbean cruises wouldn't be eligible for this, but the one I am looking at doesn't accept the code (and if I ask it to show all cruises with the drinks offer instead, it also doesn't show this one). What am I missing?

    Thanks :)

Call them direct, it's worth it,

But with the Dollar/Pound rate being so bad

it may make sense to book via the UK

Also if you have a cruise booked

Use Celebrity to get OBC @ 1.67 per pound

  12. My wife and I are on a cruise on the Equinox this year can anyone give any info on the Classic drinks package. Does it cover a pint of lager or bitter with gin and tonic or vodka and lemonade. Also house wines by the glass, or should we upgrade to the Premium package.

Hi here are some links the first is a more comprehensive list

The second may be a bit out of date, on the Classic Package

You can buy any wine upto $9 value, with the premium it is

$13, plus you can pay the difference for anything over that amount,

So if a wine is $16 on the PP you would pay $3 whilst it would

be the full amount with the classic Package.

For what it's worth for the $10 upgrade if you have 1 Martini each

a day it pays for itself

they don't sell Draught beers as far as I am aware

    Hope this helps

  13. It may be cheaper to hire a car to travel from

Ft Lauderdale to the Eden Roc, I think

one of the major car hire firms Alamo I think, has a drop off there

Or keep it parked and drive to the port

    The hotel is fantastic,

  14.

Blu never takes reservations, just show up. For the MDR in Select, you can reserve in advance but you don't really have to, there is occasionally a short wait but you are given a beeper so you can go to a lounge to wait.

That's not my experience, only done it once ,but have booked a specific time.
