  1. When I made reservations 8 months before a cruise, all that was available was private tables. Knowing that a large number of people could not have possibly made dinner reservations yet, I wondered how they could accommodate all of the private table reservations. Now I know, just ignore them.
  2. And if you do not own a smart phone?
  3. Does not work that way. Unused seats are released 5 or 10 minutes before the show, so do not arrive at the last minute. And since the number of seats in the reserved area is less than the number of people eligible to sit there, there may not be any seats available for you even if you show up early.
  4. Cleaning is the current environmentally friendly way of doing what used to be "dry cleaning". Laundry uses the washing machine and dryer. No. Unlikely unless you submit it before 9 AM and pay extra for same day service.
  5. Passage contract for the USA says that if you cancel 45 to 74 days before a cruise, the deposit amount is the cancellation fee. No cancellation fee for 75 or more days in advance of the cruise.
  6. I rebooked on 1/13/23. The $200 was posted to my CC on 1/14/23.
  7. If cancelled during the cruise, it should be refunded as OBC. If cancelled before the cruiser, it should be refunded back to the method of payment.
  8. I had a booking for this year that included FCDs that expired after I made the booking. I rebooked to change cabin category and the FCDs dropped off since they had expired and could not be applied to what was in effect a new booking. However the $200 that the two FCDs had cost were immediately refunded to the credit card I had used to purchase them. For those of you who recently had the expired FCDs "lost", have you checked your credit card online to see if the FCDs did get refunded?
  9. This is not the coffee package that previously the Elite setup could be traded for. That package had unlimited fresh brewed coffee along with hot chocolate and teas plus the 15 specialty coffees. This new package (if really available) just has the 15 specialty coffees according to the description.
  10. That different Princess number might be not a Princess number but one from a travel agency selling Princess cruises and cruise packages.
  11. Yes, some ports do tax onboard sales of anything while the ship is in port. But since all shops are closed in port, only beverages usually get taxed. But the tax is on actual sales. Since you have a pre-purchased package, there should be no taxes charged on beverages you have while in port because you are not paying any money for them then. No, Princess does not give any money to offset any sales taxes charged. However, if you are sailing out of Galveston, due to Texas Liquor laws only a very limited choice of alcohol beverages are available in Texas waters. Princess does give $25 as OBC to compensate for the limited beverage menu.
  12. With prices that fluctuate, I do not know the answer to the following question: If picking a cabin can cost more $100 more than a GTY, did Princess raise the price to select a cabin or did they lower the price of a GTY?
  13. The CV has a capacity of 3140 lower berths. Princess expects 25% of passengers to book the premier package. This would be 785 passengers who would have in effect purchased two specialty dining meals or a total of 1570 meals in addition to the free specialty dining meal each full suite passenger gets for the first evening. So for a typical 7 day cruise, that would average a need for 224 specialty dining meals an evening if the days booked were evenly distributed. Of course pre-cruise reservations for specialty restaurants can also be made by people who do not have the Premier package leaving less spots available for those who have the Premier package. In my opinion: Princess is selling something they cannot deliver. o It can be possible that there are not enough reservation spots available for those with the Premier package. o Also likely is that Premier package people may not get their first or even second choice of which specialty restaurants to dine in. o Likely is that the choice of which days to have the two dinners will be very limited. o And on the days available, the desired time may not be available. I anticipate Cruise Critic threads by disappointed Premier Package purchasers on this topic.
  14. This is how booking shore excursions in advance with OBC works. You can pay with OBC, but the display of the amount of OBC available stays the same. However, the system knows (even if not displaying) how much is left and will not allow you to use more OBC than what is really available when booking shore excursions in advance.
  15. It is interesting that some items are not marked with a V, such as the French Onion Soup. Why put them on this menu if not Vegetarian/Vegan. And for the ones marked with a V, are they vegan or only vegetarian?
  16. It puzzled me why we are asked, as we were greeted by name after the first visit. Since they knew who we were, I did not see the need to scan a Medallion.
  17. Same when we had Club Class dining on a recent cruise. Even with our picture and cabin info appearing on their screen when we showed up, they still asked us to record our presence by having one of our Medallions scanned just like when embarking/disembarking the ship. A purchase in a ship's boutique also required the scanning of a Medallion.
  18. CCL Corp.'s plan is to fully prove the Medallion concept on Princess and then add it to its other brands. I wonder if the newest ships for the other brands are having the hardware for the Medallion technology installed as part of the ships' construction. They have no idea without the Medallion how long anyone is in a room. They may have known a door was opened, but could not know who, if anyone, actually entered or left the room. The computer may have known what time you had a reservation there, but it did not know if you actually showed up and ate there. And you did not need a reservation to show up for Anytime dining. They also did not know if you ate in the buffet or got food from the IC, Pizza restaurant, Pizza counter on Lido deck, hamburger grill, or ice cream counter. But as many posts on Cruise Critic have said, they did not know where you ordered the drink. The place listed on the onboard statements was where the waiter's orders were turned in, not where the order was taken which was often in a very different part of the ship. I am not saying that Princess does or does not make any use of the information that can be gathered with the introduction of the Medallion, just that much more detailed information is now available to be collected.
  19. CTRL ALT PRTSCN at same time using Windows on a desktop or laptop Then do a paste somewhere (word document, E-mail, etc.) CTRL V
  20. The screenshot is essential to proving what was seen. So, Waynetor, get a screen shot if you have not already done so before calling Princess.
  21. Getting what fixed? o Changed to refundable? o Other?
  22. And is it any wonder that if you are calling the 800 number to book with Princess that sometimes you do not get the correct pricing information?
