  1. It may be too soon to do this.
  2. I expect it is a glitch as they were not even listed when I checked a couple of days ago. Also, as it has been so far when I look at the port information it says: Port details not available. Details are not available for this port at this time. Please check back later for an update on the following topics: Port Address Port Details Luggage Handling Distance / Taxi Fares Parking Information Directions / Map
  3. I do not think that is the problem. o Princess has said in the past that their bandwidth is sufficient for the expected use by so many people at the same time. o Last year and even pre-pandemic people reported great satisfaction with the "fastest Internet at sea," even when there were more passengers on board than their are now.
  4. But the current speed issues cannot and should not be ignored. Unlimited Internet is needed in order to do what used to be accomplished with limited minutes, whether they were free platinum/elite minutes of paid for minutes. And having to pay $330 for unlimited $5/day/person Internet on an upcoming cruise is a significant chunk of change compared to the 1000 free minutes we would have received with the old benefit on our 33 day cruise.
  5. A single device package can be used with one device at a time, so multiple people can share one single device package, just one person at a time. And the cost for a 4 device package is the same as the cost for two single device packages.
  6. Me too, at least not make it the only option. But my reason is I do not have a cell phone.
  7. There have been some posts on "live froms" by people on Alaska cruisetours who tested positive when tested near the end of the tour prior to joining the ship. As jvaka's post indicates, very few people are taking the proven precaution of wearing appropriate masks while on the tours and thus with the virus as prevalent as it is these days it is no surprise that some on the tour do get Covid. It may have been acquired pre-tour or while on the tour. Even worse, those who had it detected before the cruise likely spread it to other tour participants who did not have enough virus in their system to be detected at test time and thus boarded the ship infected and with the ability to spread it to others on board. Popular opinion is that masks are a nuisance, so most people do not wear them in airports, on planes, crowded buses, etc. Often not even on cruise ships even when it is "mandatory." Since the virus pays no attention to popular opinion, it is no surprise that it shows up in participants on cruisetours and on cruise ships.
  8. Frm Princess web site as accessed from the USA: "Offer is available to legal residents of North America."
  9. Princess web site has not kept up with the reality you found: "Join Me Tonight" Luggage You are allowed one piece of "Join Me Tonight" baggage per person on the land portion of your cruisetour. You will simply pack one bag and place luggage where instructed. Our handlers will pick it up and deliver it to your room at the next overnight location on your land tour.
  10. I was on one cruise on a formal evening when a man walked into the dining room dressed nicely, but also wearing a nice cowboy hat. When questioned by the staff, he said "In Texas where I come from, this is formal."
  11. There have been several posts by people on the pre-cruise Alaska cruise who have tested positive before the end of the land tour and had to be cancelled for the cruise part. It is likely that other people on the land tour were infected, but did not develop enough virus to be detected by the time of the test. But...3 days later when they board a ship......
  12. Then logically it would apply to Alaska cruises from Seattle and San Francisco.
  13. That used to be the policy. But with the heavy promotion of the ability to order something with Medallion technology and have it delivered to wherever you are on the ship. And that includes your cabin.
  14. In general (there are exceptions), Roll Call participants have been 2%-5% of the ship's capacity. Post shut-down, many Princess ships have had a greatly reduced number of passengers, so 2%-5% of less passengers will be less participants in a roll call. Many of the Princess cruises lately have been for Alaska and historically these have a greater number of new-to-cruising passengers, with very few of them even aware Cruise Critic exists. Of two roll calls that I am currently in, one is a cruise out of Galveston in December and so far has only 1.2% of passengers represented, but has only been available for booking for less than two months. The second is a TA for next spring which has 2.9% participation, within normal participation range.
  15. If this is "the best Internet at sea," I can only imagine what the worst would be.
  16. I am impressed that you fit all your belongings in just three suitcases and only one was a large one! Thanks for a very informative, educational and interesting report. All that pre=planning was no doubt worth the effort.
  17. Thanks. You answered my basic question. It was not working in an area that it is supposed to be superfast, even if the ship was at 100% capacity. I wonder if the Internet manager really understands how it is supposed to work or is just trying to say anything to stop having to discuss the problem.
  18. There is a code for someone with no package ("standard" pricing) to upgrade to the Premier package for $75/day, its regular price.
  19. a) Where is the ship located when you ran these tests? b) Have you asked about a partial or full refund of Internet costs with the speed of the "best Internet at Sea". Whether purchasing through a Plus/Premier package or by itself, you have paid for performance you are not getting.
  20. I think Federal funds for free testing have run out. If so, look for more than Walgreen's to start charging. (By the way, I think Walgreen's were paid about $60 for eachg test when the Feds paid for it. $129 is a super ripoff.) My insurance will only cover tests that a doctor orders. No sure how many doctors will order tests for people wanting them just for travel. In my opinion, as long as pre-cruise tests are required by the cruise lines, they need to provide them at the cruise terminal at a reasonable price. A family of four would probably decide not to cruise if faced with over $500 of test costs at Walgreen's and similar providers.
  21. Here are the booking codes. 3rd passenger should be able to upgrade for $25/day using code PREMUP34. So tell your Princess agent what code to use.
  22. It seems Princess should hire your DW to enforce the rules on Princess ships.
