  1. Press release on the Premier open the door contest: July 5, 2022 1:00 PM EDT Innovative New Stateroom Entry Experience, Princess Prizes, Rolling Out Fleetwide Offering Guests Chance to Win Host of Prizes, Including $100,000 in Cash SANTA CLARITA, Calif., July 5, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- Princess Prizes – a first-of-its-kind experience that turns every stateroom entry into a chance to win a variety of prizes, including $100,000 in cash – is rolling out across the Princess Cruises fleet following a highly successful pilot on Caribbean Princess. The way Princess Prizes works is simple - every time an adult guest accesses their stateroom using their Medallion, they have the chance to win a prize including shipboard credits, wine tastings, Chef's Table dinners and even free cruises for two for the next decade. Additionally, guests can enter an end-of-cruise drawing awarding at least $5,000 every voyage. "Princess Prizes takes our guests' MedallionClass experience to the next level, providing them with a fun way to win prizes simply by entering their stateroom," said Princess President John Padgett. "At Princess, we're always aiming to provide our guests with unique experiences they can't have anywhere else and Princess Prizes is just the latest example of how we can leverage MedallionClass technology in new and exciting ways." Princess Prizes was introduced on Majestic Princess and Discovery Princess in Alaska this past weekend with an additional 10 ships coming online between now and the end of the month. The rollout schedule is as follows: Grand Princess – July 6 Crown Princess, Royal Princess, Ruby Princess – July 9 Regal Princess – July 16 Emerald Princess – July 20 Enchanted Princess – July 22 Sky Princess – July 23 Coral Princess, Island Princess – July 29 Princess Prizes is part of the recently launched Princess Premier, the line's premium add-on that includes unlimited WiFi for four devices, a top-shelf beverage package, specialty dining, photos, and daily crew appreciation at one all-inclusive price. Princess Prizes also takes full advantage of Princess' exclusive MedallionClass experience which begins with the Medallion™ wearable, a quarter-sized, device that enables everything from expedited contactless boarding to locating loved ones anywhere on the ship, as well as enhanced service like having whatever guests need, delivered directly to them, wherever they are on the ship.
  2. And remember that Princess not only pays wholesale prices, but prices without any Federal or state taxes, so they pay much less than any land based restaurant or bar.
  3. A visit to the Belfast Titantc Museum is definitely the more important of the two. Be sure to allow time to see the SS Nomadic, a land-based tender for the Titanic that is located across the street from the museum and is included in the museum admission price. Allow at least 30 minutes for this. You may want to consider booking the Museum tickets in advance. Can cancel up to 24 hours in advance if necessary.
  4. Was it mentioned in the Patter or did you just have to stumble upon it?
  5. And by going maskless when it is appropriate to wear one, you are willing to share with others that "miserable sick" experience.
  6. That probably will not work as the banks change what they allow.
  7. Please let us know if they offer the Pub lunch on your cruise. Thanks
  8. Princess will set up a location for a service for every night of Chanukkah. It will need to be led by a passenger. They will provide: o Booklets for the service o An electric menorah o Wine o Jelly doughnuts o Latkes On some ships the menorah is then relocated to a public area near the customer service desk all eight days.
  9. Below are some photos from a special lunch buffet on the original Pacific Princess in 2001.
  10. It has been a long time since I have seen what had been a tradition on cruise ships, a big dessewrt buffet at Midnight. The last time I saw one was on a Carnival "journeys" cruise which replicated many past events on cruise ships. It actually was held at midnight. Until several years ago Princess would have a dessert buffet one evening around 10:30 on the pool deck. First it was setup so people could take photos. Then people could serve themselves from it. It was usually well attended. I suspect much of the food was not eaten because many people were not hungry enough at that time. It has sort of been replaced on Princess with a dessert extravaganza in the Lido deck buffet at lunch time near the end of the cruise.
  11. In the past they kept one side open for light snacks during that time. It was often visited by people returning from a shore excursion.
  12. Yes, CCL offers three levels of service at three price levels, two of which for sure are at higher cost that Princess' one price for all. And, if I remember correctly, CCL decides which sites are limited to the streaming package and some of those really are not streaming sites. On the ships where MedallionNet really works as advertised, streaming works well for everyone and is at a bargain price compared to other cruise lines.
  13. And what do you do if you do not have a phone? How do you even know what coupons are available if you do not have a phone?
  14. For several years before the pandemic these type "shows" had been replaced by regular showroom entertainment. However, back in the days of true traditional dining, the first night often had only one performance and it was in the middle of the second seating.

  16. Did Princess check it when you checked in for the cruise in San Francisco? If so, Princess may have given all the needed info to the Canadian authorities.
  17. Not the OP, but the lack of using E-mail for sending a verification code to enter frustrates me in a number of ways. (Again, I do not have a cell phone.) o Traveling in "normal" times, both cruising and in foreign lands, I need to have access to several financial and credit card accounts when I am not at home, either in country or out of it. Unlike you, I do use the Internet to pay bills including credit card and utility bills. o I will not pay a bill blindly. I do not want it paid automatically without my reviewing what is in it so an erroneous or fraudulent charge does not drain a bank account. o Even when at home, I prefer an E-mail for receiving a verification code instead of a call to my land line. I often need the verification code while others are sleeping and a phone call to my land line would wake them up. o While traveling I do need to check credit card charges to make sure they are accurate, especially when the charge was made in a foreign currency. More than once after using a credit card in a foreign country I have then had fraudulent charges made. o Even after notifying a credit card company I would be traveling, I have had them lock my account when a charge in a country I told them I would be in was deemed suspicious. My E-mail account can receive the lockout notice within seconds of the transaction being made, but when looking at the E-mail later, I cannot go to the website to verify or challenge the charge without that secondary verification code. (Calling them from a ship is not the answer as at the rates charged by Princess for a phone call at sea, it could cost hundreds of $$$ between phone trees and wait times before even getting to speak with someone.) o Even when I access various accounts from home on my laptop pre-cruise to prove that the computer is a valid one, when I am away from home many businesses want secondary verification again because they detect a different Internet hardware address the computer is working through. (Some will just see via cookies that the computer is legit from previous verified use, but not all.)
  18. That is better than what I found just now. Both before and after logging in the price was $599. And that was for a GTY.
  19. You did all that you could do to avoid catching the virus in a situation where many did not. It must be realized that N95 and KN95 masks are named that because they are 95% effective. If other people around you are not also N95/KN95 masked, that 5% can get you.
  20. Yes, and more and more are refusing to allow any other option than a test to a cell phone. I know that a computer can send a text to a cell phone (each cell provider has a different address to use for this) and the receiver can respond to the text and it will go to the computer. But it does not appear businesses know how to (or do not want to) initiate, rather than respond to, a text. I have also heard the same "E-mail is not secure" explanation from a number of financial institutions. They seem to forget that even Twitter's CEO had his cell phone cloned and thus showed that cell phones are not a secure method to use for secondary authentication. If the CEO of a giant tech company's cell phone can be compromised, how secure can the average person be sure their cell phone is safe for proof of authentication. I am not tech-adverse. In fact the great majority of my working life working with the coding of computer operating systems. I just do not need to be tethered to a communication device 24/7. I do have a relative with a cell phone and have used that one when it was absolutely essential to accomplish something that only could be done with a cell phone. I also wonder how a financial institution thinks using what is essentially a stranger's cell phone for authentication is more secure than an e-mail to the e-mail address in their files. Especially since one they have that person's cell number, they will send all kinds of financial information to it. (One time when I entered another person's cell phone number as one to use for authentication, the request was rejected because the phone was not registered in my name. Thus it looks that even within a family unit, each person must have their own cellphone for some types of authentication.) In one way, I have saved many hours of time by not having a cell phone. I keep reading posts on Cruise Critic about people who have spent uncounted hours trying to get the Princess app to work pre-cruise in order to save 10 minutes when checking in at the cruise terminal.
  21. There is no longer a specific number of days before a cruise that excursion bookings open up. It all depends on when Princess has the contracts in place. I have one cruise booked where excursions were available over a year in advance. I have another one where they became available 6 month before the cruise. So, just check the Princess website regularly.
  22. The post was referencing the buffet, not the MDR.
