Or can Governor DeSantos for instance stop them from insisting upon masks, vaccine etc  in the ports of Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa. Or could he stop them from operating in or out of Florida if they do? That is an interesting question.

Governor “DeSantis” seems to be doing a far better job than the Queen and Royal Family.  I never see the Royals with a mask on. Doesn’t the forever mask apply to them?

Would it be fair for the cruise lines, food suppliers, hotels, restaurants, transportation services, and tourism-dependent countries to have to wait longer for work/income so younger people accustomed to having the best of everything handed to them won’t miss out on something that other people can do?

    Huh?

Except for Coco Cay you can only leave the ship on Shore Excursions organized by the cruiseline and these are under strict protocols. If these will be applied as for cruises on MSC, Costa or Mein Schiff, should a guest not comply during the excursion by leaving the group etc they will be forced to leave the cruise immediately.

I would say Labadee falls into this category as well.

Happy to hear that things are working out quite good in FL and you have some normality back to daily life. Luckily you also have the mild climate that enables you to have lot's of activite outside and also eat outside in Restaurants, which surely helps as well.

Some restaurants have limited outdoor seating, more so on the beach or river, but most really don’t.  I can’t remember when the last time we ate outdoors. Florida has a milder climate but its sub tropical and rains can be the norm. Can’t use outdoor seating in the rain and can’t use it to point to for our current situation.  Our numbers are better than or equal to most lockdown States.

Just think, Florida is going to be smarter too as our kids have been back in school all year. 😇

You must be thinking of someone else. I have never said I want everyone to wear a mask on a cruise. Two masks??? NEVER EVER will I wear two masks. I never said that. To be honest, I do not plan on cruising until the mask mandate is lifted so it may be a loooooooong time before I cruise again.

I want every person who boards a cruise ship to be vaccinated  and that includes all passengers and all crew. I have been saying that even before these vaccines had emergency approval. My views on that have not changed.

Now getting to the restrictions of passengers 70 or older......As I think more about this, why restrict folks 70 or older if ALL PASSENGERS AND CREW are vaccinated? The vaccines prevent bad outcomes if anyone of any age becomes infected with Covid. That is the simple solution for cruise lines to be able to operate safely, at least with start up.

As it is now, children can cruise as long as they have a negative test three days prior to sailing. I don't understand why you are still wanting the older folks to be restricted from cruising, especially if they are vaccinated and pose no threat to themselves or anyone else. Am I still missing something or not understanding your agenda?

Your buddy, Dr Flipflop, whom you support, says wear two masks even if vaccinated. I assume you follow his narrative?  I believe if you go back and look at your previous posts, you will see where you support that narrative.

I personally don’t really care about age restrictions, it was just an example. At first, I wasn’t sure if the vaccinated would or wouldn’t infect others. The data now seems to indicate that those with the vaccine and those previously infected just don’t build up the viral load to infect others. These are things we know. Therefore, if true, masks should not be required. As far as variance virus, we don’t know. We don’t know a lot of things. Until they have data that proves otherwise, we shouldn’t do things based on what we don’t know. What better way to entice those who are resistant to getting the vaccine then to tell them they can toss the mask out. I bet a whole bunch more will get vaccinated.

It's nice to hear and hope you will be able to enjoy the concerts safely. It's maybe just to early unless you can only attend if vaccinated as such events are a big risk to turn out into super spreader events as long as many people are not yet vaccinated. A big threat to Florida is currently the events around Spring Break which could have again a negative effect and delay things even further for going back to a more normal.

Vaccinations not required for concert. There is some cap on capacity. Florida has been open since May-June. Kids are back in school, very little issue. Sports are happening. NASCAR has moved several of their races to Florida from lockdown States that prohibit them. Win-win for Florida. The issues in Miami dealt with gun play and a shooting. That part is not being covered by the National Media. National media is all about Covid. We had nearly 500k bikers and Spring Breakers here in Daytona/Ormond area two weeks ago. No big surge. Only waves were coming ashore on the beach.

I track the ICU available beds for Florida Hospitals. We have 25% available which is normal and the total bed count has dropped a 1000 (when things get bad they can and do add beds as needed). The 25% number is a good number. Hospitals don’t make money from a vacant bed.

Florida’s numbers are better than many lockdown States. We eat out quite often and restaurants are very full, especially during snowbird season.  We wear our mask when indoors shopping and as appropriate. We don’t judge others who don’t, we just avoid them as practical.

People are just tired and at wits end for being in this state of mind for a year. Their frustrations are showing and you can see in here as well.

No, that's not what I was trying to say. All I meant was that if 70+ were restricted from cruising (as you suggested), I would not be cruising because I'm 71. So.....that let's me out.

Ok. But my point is you want all these restrictions for others. Why shouldn’t they have age restrictions?  You can’t dispute the data that suggests those 70 or over are more likely to have issues than those younger.  Just say’n.

You want everyone to wear a mask, two of them or more but blinded that the older people are, the more likely to become seriously ill from Covid. Eliminate those over 70 and maybe mask wouldn’t be necessary for those younger people vaccinated.

Agree, can't ever see Vaccine required here for Concert, Amusement Parks, etc. On news 98% AMC Movie Theaters are open this weekend, even NY is opening Restaurants and other Venues now. A Mandate is hard sell in US, shoot only 52% Medical Field have even received it, about 1/3 said they don't ever plan on getting it. Cruises, do not see Vaccine required for too long on Royal, Children will be board w/o Vaccine as they start so no 100% anyway. Did get my first shot, around people need keep safe and now bases covered want to Cruise soon. Though interesting as my Vaccine Card all personal info Blank, no name with just Vaccince info/date. Guess I'll fill in in before my second shot in 2wks... Funny should mention Blue Oyster Cult, was just listening to them thinking back 40+ years ago went to Black and Blue Concert, Black Sabbath/Blue Oyster Cult

That would have been an awesome concert. I was listening to a bunch of Deep Purple today. Was in that kind of mood.

This is the new norm and likely all the major cruiselines will have the same policies in place that you have to be vaccinated in order to be able to board a cruiseship, this is our new reality. Eventually it will not only be boarding a cruiseship, it will be able to go to a concert, to travel etc.

Here in Florida we are back to concerts. Little River Band next Thursday. Booked Blue Oyster Cult for May. It will be nice getting back to some concerts.

Cancel under CWC and then they can't jerk you around any longer. Threads like this frustrate me. You all know what the situation was when you booked, took the FCCs or Lifted and shifted. It has been going on for a year and you all continue to book cruises and then complain when the cruise line doesn't cancel  or change plans for obvious reasons.  You should be looking at the yahoo in the mirror.

I agree for the most part but some may have booked these cruises prior to Covid.

Hmmm....here’s an experiment to try - let’s coup up the country for a year, and see what happens when we free the college age folks.

I’m not implying I condone the behavior at all, but what did you really expect?  Now imagine them on a cruise ship....enforced rules will go over just about as well one would reasonably expect.

We saw it during Bikeweek. Reckless behavior and riding. It was crazy.

If there were a ban of 70+ that would let me out.

Why aren't you using your M8 signature any more? I've seen a few of your posts without your signature.

    What’s my signature?

So it’s ok for you to suggest restrictions that suit you but it’s not ok when I suggest one?

So these two executives have actually said that, for example, masks and social distancing are not going to be designated protocols for the Bahamas cruises, even with a mix of vaccinated and unvaccinated cruise passengers?  It seems like many posters are making that assumption and it's just speculation, unless of course they said that in absolute terms.  Crystal Cruises is requiring masks and social distancing with vaccinated passengers and numerous of the cruise lines mandating vaccines in the UK are doing the same.  Hey, but what do I know.  Not anything more than other posters here.

I don’t think @Ourusualbeach said that. I think he said Royal would update us at a later date what the protocols will be. The earlier mask mandate was before vaccines. It’s still possible masks might be mandated. We just don’t know yet. Those planning to cruise will likely not know before they make their final payments.

He was on the TA call with executives from Royal.

Nothing was mentioned in the Royal statement regarding those people that can't get the vaccine being allowed on the ship. I was responding to Broadway baby's post.  If I am mistaken, provide me a link that states that those cruisers that can't get the vaccine are allowed on the ship.  The promotional email I got stated that all over the age of 18 had to be vaccinated and that those under 18 needed negative tests.

I misunderstood your post obviously. I thought you were saying those that “can’t” get the vaccine should be allowed to board. My bad.

I think an American vaccine passport is a long long way away, if ever. Even the WHO recommends against vaccine passports at least for the near term until we learn more about how long vaccines last.

I still think there is too much risk for the cruise lines should someone board with fake credentials (vaccine) and infection occurs onboard.

I forget where I read it but someone wants to see the original vaccination card in order to be able to sail.  (it said a copy won't do).  Wonder what happens if you lose your card?  I will scan and take a picture of mine after the second shot but that still doesn't qualify as the original card

We have ours stored and in the safe with our passports.
