  1. That's why we left today, Les, lol. Seriously, we had eight glorious days of perfect weather, with glowing sunsets reflected in the water. Pure Bay magic. Tried Sandbar again...as exquisite as ever. Also dined at Corrigan's one evening. It used to be so so, but Colin Fassnidge's tv kitchen and restaurant makeover has worked wonders. One of the best seafood platters we've ever enjoyed. While driving one day, we heard Greg Robson on Moruya community radio telling about an episode years age when he was a Canberra radio host and he and fellow hosts were visited by Barry Humphries for a morning-long session. Barry asked their names (clever possum would've done his homework). They each introduced themselves, and Greg was always known as "Robbo". Craig was the name of another host, but can't remember the third he related. When they gave their names, Greg said Barry immediately replied, "Well, possums, we have Robbo, Craigo, .... and Leso". Always poker faced, of course. He was brilliant, and although I've never been an avid fan of Miriam Margolyes, I applaud her brilliantly succinct dressing down of the Melbourne comedy brigade. More talent in his little finger, indeed. Bravissima, Miriam!
  2. Perfect. Your grandson will always hold memories of idyllic days at his Gran’s during school holidays, and rest assured, sausage roll and vanilla cake aromas will always take his mind to those days.
  3. What a heartwarming family scene that evokes, Leigh. He had a perfect excuse for demolishing ten...that's a long ride for a sub-teen😉 How lovely for you that he rode that distance to see you both, and how welcoming are home-made sausage rolls😋 What magic did you produce for afternoon tea?
  4. Can’t help with pie stops, but your road trip will be a scenic adventure
  5. I agree, Julie. A silky, buttery bechamel, with a fresh bay leaf flavouring the added milk, is far from “white goo”. It’s exquisite when added to vegetables such as cauliflower, zucchini, etc., and without it, lasagne would be just flavoured pasta. Your idea of substituting ravioli sounds delicious.
  6. I really enjoy pies without any sauce at all, but I always add tomato sauce to sausage rolls.
  7. It’s a great supermarket; we often shop there. Parking under is a bonus. Silo is also a wonderful bakery, but haven’t tried Wildflour, but with customer care like that, they deserve patronage. How lovely. Enjoy your antipasti, etc. Barbecued porterhouse for us, with the peperonata I’ve simmered this afternoon. Coast for a few days this week: time to try Sandbar again😋
  8. Another mushroom and steak pie from Garran for lunch today. Seems to be our regular Saturday go-to lunch now, along with take-away egg and bacon roll from Beess & Co, Yarralumla, every Sunday morning.
  9. But of course you can enjoy meat pies at music festivals🥰
  10. Ths should be transferred to “Now for Something Different”😆
  11. It was indeed a cold morning on Monday. Sorry we missed you, Marion
  12. We did it in May, of 2004. Our NCL ship was first in to a few Alaskan ports for that season. Sadly, had to turn back in Tracy Arm before seeing the glacier. Too many icebergs and too dangerous. Still so many wonderful memories, though.
  13. Thank you so much. We have no third passenger, so it will be for sitting only🙏🏻
  14. Hi O Experts, We have reserved a PH1 “Triple” on Vista for a Med cruise next year. Just hoping a helpful CCer can describe the difference between “PH1” and “PH1 Triple”. Hoping that if the included fold-down bed included for a third passenger is a comfortable divan, if it replaces a standard PH1 sofa? Many thanks, Linda
  15. Sounds exquisite, Lyle. I guess it’s the old story: you get what you pay for.
  16. I live chicken and leek pies. Must try Aldi’s
  17. Overall they’re pretty good, but their pies are exceptional. When I posted that photo, I told Mario Les will demand to know where the “horse” is😆
  18. Sounds delicious. Which farmers’ market?
  19. Oops: plain beef in middle, mushroom & beef on right
  20. Finally remembered to add pic of pies from Garran Bakery: L-R: Chunky Beef, Beef & Mushroom, Beef the pastry and fillings are delicious.
