I noticed that, Leigh, and it does sound delicious. However, I have to say that the very best vanilla slice I've ever tasted is made locally, at Cafe Delish in Deakin. The filling, like a French or Italian creme patisserie, is so light it almost floats. The pastry is light, flaky and crisp. It would have given them a run for their money, if it was entered. Now I'm tempted to hop in the car......
