  1. Unbelievable! The whining over a $2.33 cappuccino after spending $$thousands for a cruise. Again, we all must thank those who abused the system so that Princess had to restructure the "coffee card" benefit to protect others.

You will still be able to purchase multiple cups on one "card" and refill or get a new "card" when it runs out.

If you don't like the rules, don't cruise. Simple.

+1000. The whining over a cup of coffee coupon gathering dust in ones junk drawer. I’ll buy one a cup if they promise not to open a new thread. I can’t even imagine the dinner conversation on this one at TD

  2. Guess we will stop purchasing the specialty coffee. This really stinks

Why? Your going to not live your cruise to the fullest over the cost of a cup of coffee. That’s like saying I am going to pack Vienna Sausages and Sardines because I won’t pay for specialty dining upcharge. #youcanttakeitwithyou

  3. I believe drugs are much more common on cruise ships than we (the public) may think. I think the Cruise Industry try to keep these kinds of things quite. Like crime on cruise ships, they want people to think cruise travel is 100% safe which it is not. So many ask why do you cruise then? Because the risks are low and I accept those risks. But I don't like the industry covering up what is happening on these ships. Very little regulation and reporting becasue of the home countries for cruise ships.

Everything you said is based upon your speculation. Lots of “I believes” concluding with “I don’t like” with no backing

  4. Looking through the 2017 Patters for our upcoming Alaskan Cruise. I noticed on the first sea day a listing for a "Free Ladies Pamper Party" - "Receive a free DIY mini Facial...." Has anyone done this? Was it mainly a sales pitch? Any info greatly appreciated!

    thanks!

  5. I cruise all lines. Where the ship is going is number one reason to go. Quite frankly I would not want to be tied down with elite, as Benefits don’t outweigh the cost of trying different products. I like Princess if I am stressed with work and just want to sit, be it inside or balcony. The ships are well appointed and consistent (almost to a fault). When I do suite, it’s NCL Haven product which beats Princess hands down. If I am in a foody mood, then RCL as they have a large assortment of Specialty dining options. One gets tired of the same ol Sabatinis or Steak House on every Princess ship. If I am looking for entertainment, then RCL or NCL with the Broadway productions win. Casino is NCL as they have better casino program. HAL is too old folks home with entertainment shutting down at 10pm.

When I pay premium I would go NCL Haven with butler and private dining over others. You get best of both worlds, mainline activities with Premium line luxuries.

  6. Tell the boys to head out of Galveston on one of RCL ships to Western Caribbean. Full of all ages. While there is no drinking on ship, very port intensive and drinking age south of Texas is 18. Spring Break cruises are packed with families and college kids. Mexico is a blast. Plenty of activities and port stops daily. Just make sure they don’t come back with stories to remind those on this board what it was like to be young. Sounds like you have a great friend

  7. It's not that tables aren't available or waiting to be cleared and reset.

    It's a Princess decision

It's either a lack of tableside staff - or - kitchen not being able to get the food out on a

    'timely basis'

just off the Regal, and saw this as we were leaving the mdr, plenty of set tables, 2 tops, 4, larger - and saw people getting beepers.

this was about 6:30 as we ate a very early dinner, for us, wanting to do a show at 7

So why not go to the bar and get a pre dinner cocktail? I guess living in the big city this is standard for me, most restaurants have beepers and most enjoy a cocktail prior to dinner. The beepers add flexibility and I appreciate them. Empty tables most likely waiting on reservations.

  8. Have you checked out Carnival? They have a reputation for being "booze crooze" ships. Please don't recommend Princess to them...thank you.

And one wonders while Princess has a reputation for those “waiting for God” I did not read where it was Spring Break or looking for a booze cruise. Very snark

  9. Hi,

Have never used Club Class dining but do enjoy traditional and anytime. No reason for us to upgrade. However am a bit concerned that the dining experience may not be the same since the addition of Club Class. This does not seem to be case but thought I would ask.

    Does service get affected?

Could you be seated right next to Club Class and therefore "feel" and see the difference?

Thanks in advance for sharing experiences.

    No

  10. My biggest issue with the Captain Circle Program is that it is based on Sea Days and Cruise Credits. It should be based on Sea Days Only. It is not fair to reach Elite status by doing a bunch of short cruises. Just saying...

Why not, the line makes more money on onboard spending with short trips. Example if one budgets one specialty dinner, or duty free purchase per cruise, the line makes more money with turnover of those passengers on multiple cruises, rather than the same crowd on one long cruise.

If the line was smart, it would be based upon total spend fare + onboard the way hotels and some airlines do. That would be a better indicator of loyalty. You would reward high spenders be it fare choice, excursion purchase, casino spend, rather than the crowd that won't buy a drink now that happy hour is gone, doesn't spend a dime in the casinos, and schedules off ship excursions.

  11. If it get to a point where serious topics need to be communicated by "cartoons", we are in serious trouble.

I read where the FAA did a study and found that more people paid attention to the Southwest quirky/jokey safety demo than the same old staid demo from other airlines. If you look now at the other airlines, you will find more quirky and animated safety demos. Encourages paying attention. Not sure what makes animation in a safety video 'serious trouble'. Would you prefer an old gym teacher screaming "People" or a Marine drill sergeant giving a lecture. I think that would turn most people off.

IMHO, I suspect the issue is change, which the members of the Princess board are not very good at.

  12. Spoke with them yesterday and restaurant reservations are still credit card or PayPal only.

You get yourself worked up on the most trivial. Trust me, your onboard account will be more than $100. With this attitude on the trivial, I can guarantee you your setting yourself up with disappointment.
