Yes, I had already found Millers Landing prior to this post, and actually really like it, but everyone is telling me no because apparently it's too far from town? Though google maps says 12 minutes to Seward, and Google earth shows just a regular old, poorly maintained road that I'm used to driving on every day of my life, so I'm not sure why it's a bad idea. Though they're all booked anyway for my dates. This all sucks, because I booked our original place a year ago, and was just told the other day that they will be closing down for the season early. I still have the option to stay though, so I'm just exploring my options.

yes. Anywhere between anchorage and Seward. I was actually just looking at Millers Landing. They have a few that are not rustic at all (I’m not a rustic type girl lol), which I will check out better tomorrow. We’ll have a car, so food not being next door is fine. We tend to drive around a lot anywhere we go. Driving into Seward and even up to Girdwood are on the itinerary.

We were booked at Summit Lake Lodge for 3 nights prior to our cruise on September 9th and received an email today that they’re closing down September 5th. They said we can still stay, but the restaurant and all facilities will be closed. So I’m taking this as a sign that maybe there’s something better out there. Looking for a cabin/cottage/house (no shared units or room rentals), somewhere between anchorage and Seward. A good view is a must, on a body of water even better, a washer and dryer would make me really happy, preferably through a legit rental company. Any suggestions?

Where are you getting Covid test before sailing Alaska?

We'll be doing the proctored emed tests in our cabin that we're renting for 4 days prior to sailing out of Seward. -
We went with Jayleen's Alaska in 2018 and are booked again in September. She's a native Alaskan, she loves what she does, and has a small boat. We were actually the only 2 booked on our tour last time, and I'm hoping it might be the same this year.

Fish & Chips, Chowder, Coffee recommendations in ports

It's very close to the dock, in a small free standing little building with a walk up window. It was SO GOOD. -

Alaskan Crepe Escape in Juneau. I got a simple cinnamon sugar one, but they have all kinds, including not sweet ones. It's top on my list when we go back. -
Oh wow. I have a friend and her husband stuck in Sint Eustatius right now, but their experience has been completely the opposite. They were given and ocean front room, and access to the pool. The employees go grocery shopping for them and pick up dinner for them every night. The husband is still testing positive so they're stuck there through the weekend still though. They're ready to go home, but they've been treated very well.

So, let's say my husband and I do the proctored emed covid test on the ship the night before we sail into Vancouver. One or both tests positive. Could we then disembark as normal and go rent a car and drive home? Or are the Covid police going to be waiting outside our door to whisk us away to quarantine? I assume, since we will be doing an online proctored test, that no one will know if we test positive. And yes, I do know that this is probably morally wrong, but there's absolutely zero chance I'm staying in Canada and quarantining for 10 extra days or whatever it is with my dogs at home.

We sail into Vancouver on the morning of September 16th. Delta has just changed our flight. Previously we were flying out 2:15 pm. Now it's 12:45. What online proctored covid tests are you all buying, and from where, so that we can do them the night before on the ship and not have to worry about getting tested before we go to the airport. I'm trying to avoid changing our flights to the next day and having to stay overnight in Vancouver.
