I know nothing is definite at the moment, but when I booked in January for a cruise on the Equinox, it already had cancelled the Istanbul stop & made Athens a two nighter. I got in touch with them & mentioned the possibility of Kusadasi being withdrawn too & told them they should be making contingency plans to stop elsewhere & not to do another two nighter somewhere, I suggested Rhodes or Malta. I wonder if they have???? But please no sea day I hate them & we have enough already.

Here in the UK I inquired the cost of flights to Rome & the return from Barcelona for our cruise, Celebrity wanted £350 for each person for both flights, I got it for £128.60 pp for both.

Hi we have just returned from our first NCL cruise after many on Celebrity apart from the weather (Canaries) the cruise far exceeded our expectations, there was hardly any announcements, the included drinks package was far better than the classic package that Celebrity usually gives as a perk. The entertainment on NCL was 10 times better than Celebrity in our opinion, so many different options. A evening nightclub that actually had a live DJ that was open every evening.

We did a NCL cruise in January & don't think the drinks package is better, Celebrity include specialty coffees NCL don't. Regarding entertainment I think you might be right as it was excellent on NCL & this is now my worry on our forthcoming Celerity cruise. Celebrity are still our favourite line but may change our view if the entertainment is poor.

An old one I know but the people of Dubai hate The Flintstones, but the people of Abu Dhabi do. Boom ! Boom!!:D

Sailed twice Celebrity & Princess, all cruises have been very good, but find Celebrity the better. On these cruises we have asked fellow cruisers their thoughts on HAL as we have never sailed with them,& the majority have said that Hal are more staid & not as much fun, also an older crowd.

When they were over things were pretty much dead most nights (with a few exceptions). :(

Oh dear! hope not, surely there is some house band doing rock/popular music somewhere on the ship?

 

Guess what happens? About a day later they'll come to you and tell you that they got an extra shift off work,

 

We better not all do this at once as we could end up with no staff on duty:D:D

My wife & I are also on the Equinox on the 19th May. I have just been on the Celebrity UK web site & our balcony cabin C1 has gone up by £140 each, so our deal, including the Classic Drinks is still better than the new one.:)

I guess I'm puzzled by all the negative comments

 

My criticism of the wine service in the MDR, was true, but I should have added that the rest of the ship, the bars etc., was very good & had no complaints.

We were on The Eclipse last year & agree that the wine servers are hard to find when in the MDR. We noticed that the wine server in our area spent most of her time dealing with diners who were not on a package & ordered wine from the wine list. It got our table & others very annoyed.

My last three cruises have been ,Celebrity Eclipse, RCCL Anthem of the Seas & last month NCL Epic, all were excellent cruises, Anthem of the Seas was full of fun not a spare moment,different free restaurants, Epic very good & good entertainment, Celebrity has always been our favourite & we will be on the Equinox in May. After this cruise I will review & then decide if Celebrity is still our favourite. Celebrity is more up market than the others, good food,(we never use the specialty restaurants on any ship), good entertainment, although don't call the Glass Show entertainment, they should get rid of it, & great service. I do worry that the entertainment may fall short of RCCL & Epic so it is a wait & see.

You are fortunate. One that immediately comes to mind that did negatively impact passengers (glad I didn't sail with him) was the captain of the Italian cruise ship Costa Concordia, ex-Captain Francesco Schettino.

You are spot on a perfect reply & this is why as long as the Captain steers the ship well & not put it any danger, the cruise should be great.

My wife & I have sailed MSC Musica, fabulous ship. food OK, very good theatre entertainment but the worst part for us was every announcement was in six languages, quizzes, deck games etc., this put us off MSC.

Is this still the case?? I don't know.

When you say out of control, do you mean he was drunk all the time ?:rolleyes:;)

My wife & I are on the Equinox in May,as I've said I don't worry about the Captain, but do regarding the Cruise Director.

And I'll bet her name was Sue Denning. She was the cruise director on our February 2015 Eclipse sailing and stands out in my mind as the very best we've ever had. Can't even remember the captain's name or even if he was Greek!

I still don't get this Captain thing, yes he/she is the most important person on a ship, to get us from port to port safely, For me surely the most important is the Cruise Director who is head of all the entertainment who can make it such a fun cruise. I was on one cruise, could have been the Eclipse, I didn't see the Captain much, he did fun announcements once a day, but the real star was the lady Cruise Director who was simply superb & reading reviews pre & post cruise she got many plaudits. Did the Captain make a difference not really.

I think Celebrity are not using Istanbul now(??), our cruise did include a stop there but has been cancelled & are also monitoring the situation for Kusadasi.

Agreed, offers in the UK do change month to month.

Sailing on the Equinox in the Med in May. Nearly booked a guarantee balcony, luckily I read the small print & found guarantees do not include the drinks package.
