  1. It's so silly at this point. They should just get rid of in-house TV and provide TVs for streaming only. If a passenger chooses to cast an event they've paid for to a screen why should anyone care? It would only be visible to those physically in front of that screen, it's not being illegally shared.
  2. The big question, will the TVs in the sports bars permit streaming? The in-house lineup is generally lacking.
  3. I've had a junior suite(the accessible one with the big balcony) on deck 10 under the solarium and the noise was minimal. I would book that location again in a heartbeat.
  4. Maybe I've looked in the wrong places but when I've looked at AI resorts the price has always been higher than cruising. Any recommendations?
  5. If you do a search on the subject you will find posts about this last year regarding Radiance of the Seas. Hawaii to Vancouver and Vancouver to Los Angeles was a no go for back to back. It's frustrating that their system doesn't pick this up when booking.
  6. Everyone makes their own food. I've done the class and wouldn't hesitate to do it solo.
  7. If you are worried I would lead with the people with the earlier boarding time. I don't think you will have any issues though.
  8. It's pretty cool, especially when it's free. Would I pay $96 for a family? Probably not, unless the setting was special like Alaska. Only you can know how much of a splurge to your budget that is though.
  9. That's interesting. I think I would get bored hanging out there all day. Was it a party crowd? It was popular but low key in my experience. Like sip cocktails and have a nosh and take pix for the gram sort of a thing.
  10. Agreed @LMaxwell, I really like NCL's waterfront concept. They have shade if you want it, and really big tables for playing games. The bars and restaurants flow outside if you want. It's one of my big criticisms of the mega-inside focused ships like Oasis class on Royal. I like that the spaces on Virgin aren't plant yourself all day ones. I like to move around and having a big variety is good. I love the pop-up type stuff that just seems to happen too. The net is a one and done thing, but the padded bed thing that everyone ends up standing on with their shoes on so they can see over the side is also bad. I expect that area will get a redo eventually but it will be a long while.
  11. That amount of a fine is not going to deter most people from bringing it along. Is one banned for life from Royal after this sort of thing? Put off the ship?
  12. I absolutely would do this once I retire. It would be great if they could do it at least every five years.
  13. Sorry, I read that wrong. I thought they had to choose package A or B and the original was being removed.
  14. So you don't get drink vouchers on the world cruise? They should give some table wine at dinner at least.
  15. I like that it's not a hot tub area. There should be more of those up top but I like the quiet atmosphere and it not being a place people spend all day camped out.
  16. Apparently a fleet wide problem with the Caesar salads. It's like they dress them and hold them in a warming tray before serving. Thanks for sharing your cruise, love Anthem. So many nice nooks and crannies to spend time in if the weather isn't cooperating.
  17. Absolutely, the Windjammer on Oasis is way too small. At least there are a bunch of other places to eat though.
  18. I haven't looked it up but I felt like the elevators were always an issue on my recent Liberty cruise. Are there less elevators/ passenger count? I don't know. There are things I don't like about Oasis class but I felt like there were adequate elevators despite the large number of pax. The Windjammer also felt inadequate for the number of passengers. Everything else was fine, easy to get bar drinks, seats for the ice show, etc. I think Radiance class is my favorite on the whole.
  19. Generally the best bet is the Black Friday sale. I have a 14 nighter in September and I purchased the internet last November during that sale.
  20. I just did this on a 4 night sailing. I went to the voom help desk on embarkation to make sure we did it right. I "bought" one day, and then a second day, then my partner "bought" the remaining 2 days package. Make sure you see $0.00 as the purchase price. Each day counts down 24 hours. You can easily separate your days as one day purchases.
  21. Additional tipping of $10-20 per meal on the UDP is above my generosity point. I tip on my diamond plus vouchers, but I swear I never see anyone else tipping and bartenders always seem surprised. I suspect the people who spend a lot of time hanging at a particular bar all week tip for the night/week, rather than per drink.
  22. I'm recently off Liberty and was very happy with the new main dining room experience. Service was timely but not rushed. I thought I would miss the old menus but there was always something that I wanted to order. I had no problem subbing a baked potato instead of rice one night. The tables around us were served multiple apps and entrees and it was impressive how quickly they brought out each plate. I really enjoyed everything I ate, to me it was a definite improvement in quality and preparation. I'm not a polyanna, I have no trouble calling out things I don't like on a sailing, MDR was 10/10. (Liberty's Windjammer is like a 4/10)
  23. Oh that is tight going under the bridge. I never miss being out on deck for this when I sail from Bayonne.
  24. I've never gotten an obstructed view when I've done balcony GTY. The big risk is being far from the elevator, which has happened to me. You have to decide how much money that is worth to you. If the price difference is enough I go with the GTY.
  25. The gap between the MDR and the specialty restaurants has grown wider. I hate having to pay extra but more often than not, I get the ultimate dining package now. The food is much better and the service is exactly what I want. Friendly, but not overbearing, and 100% on point. The only caveat is to not overeat repeatedly. I never have that problem in the MDR.
