We are off next week as well and was just coming to ask..I know layers, but the forecast is 15-25C for the week at all the ports we hit, I was planning for 10-15C so Im wondering if I should leave the winter jackets..we are 7 people and as OP said, takes up a lot of room. Wondering if a base layer like t shirt plus hoodie plus wind breaker would suffice given the forecast most days?

How bad if we didnt complete online check in?
petuniaflower replied to petuniaflower's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Thanks all! Usually an over planner here, but it is what it is this time.. Is there anything at all I should print out, my ressie booking at least I guess? -
We were having a hard time with the online check in with 3 cabins and me booking them all for our family of 7 under my email, so it was a mess and everyone was supposed to create their own accounts etc just to check in (on other lines I am able to just do everything for everyone), we just realized this the other, so some things were missing a check mark here and there and now we are within the 72 hour mark which I found out this morning is the cut off..is this a big deal? Thanks

It will be early July. So it sounds like rangers are there, Im not super familiar with what they do exactly, is it more so to guide people away from where the bears are?
-
Wow, is this something we should be concerned about, any tips aside from no food and stay in groups?

I am just about done my online check in and dont see anywhere to upload our vax certificates..do we just bring copies of vaccinations and covid tests to embarkation port on day of? Im pretty sure for Carnival and Royal we uploaded them, so just dont want to miss anything, thx.

Not to hijack, but I am on a Mendenhall tour, I just read in addition to the Nugget falls hike there is another trail- Steep Creek, I havent heard anyone mention this one..anyone know how long it is, hoping we could fit both in.

Are there walking hikes/paths/routes for a few hours of walking after we take the free shuttle, or is it kind of like wander around type of thing? Its the only port we dont have anything booked for, but dont mind a nice little walk/hike/explore, just not sure if we will know where to go /what to do when we get off the shuttle.
-
Would like to piggy back off this..was it a joke or is bear spray something we will need, say on the walk to Nugget Falls? And if needed, is this something available at every port?

Hi, what is the best approach for a night stay pre cruise, trying to make a "trip" only once ie should we stay right by the airport or right by the cruise pier? Any suggestions with free shuttles either from airport on arrival evening or to cruise port day of cruise? Or does it not matter at all and and can look at staying anywhere in between, looks like about half hour apart? Thanks

Aside from Mendenhall which we have an excursion for, we are not doing any other "see a glacier excursions"..will we see any other glaciers from the ship? Below is itinerary..

A few in our party are a bit afraid of full out open ocean kayaking as described in some excursions..has anyone done the sitka harbour kayak tour thru alaska shore excursions? It seems to be a bit less whale action possiblity and a bit more "sheltered waterways and coves" as per the description. Hoping somone may be able to offer a review.

I just booked a couple of my other excursions and while on the line asked about the tram and the rep said if its on there it still running..but Im pretty sure thats incorrect info...and we sail in 3 weeks.

Now Im even more confused..so there is a free "people mover" to get to the area, then the gondola ($49 on ncl) which takes you up, but also a forest tram ($69) still being offered on my ncl account though Ive just read it is no longer functioning from 2 posters??
-
Wow, this is interesting! Im aware that there is a gondola as shown in pic earlier (ticketed) and also a tram option after you get to the top from the gondola (also ticketed)..wonder why they still show it for purchase on my ncl account if its no longer..too bad, we were looking forward to it!
-
Has anyone done this and knows if you actually have to go at the time specified, or if like the gondola where you just go up anytime? I am finding it hard to pick the time around our other excursion and thought we would just be able to hop on, but it is showing actual times when I look at the excursion on NCL site.
-
How much time should I allot up at the top if we are also doing a whale watch cruise that day..would 1-1.5 hrs be reasonable for the time to wait in line, go up/explore and back down?
-
I meant more so is there stuff to do out on deck at night, which would be much colder I assume (ie we sometimes go to deck parties or watch movie on deck). Do these outdoor activities happen at night in Alaska? Thanks:)
-
Ok, thanks will do, its NCL.
-
Both our excursions offer an earlier and later time but we also want to explore the tram area/hike/explore a bit, which should we do first? Juneau there from 7-130 and excursion at 7 or 930 for 3.75hrs ISP there from 7-3 and excursion at 730 or 1045 for 2.5hrs

We usually get a bit done up (nothing crazy but summer dress type of thing) for dinners on our Carib cruises..not sure what to plan for Alaska for dinner attire..would we want to stick to something warmer/is there anything we would be outside on deck for, or could we stick with anything since we'd be inside? Thanks
