  1. they are not the same old shows. They have been introduced post-pandemic to my knowledge, which is pretty new in my book, since we only cruise a couple of times a year. If you cruise every month, I can see how you'd find them to be old...
  2. perhaps, the network was overloaded at the end of Thanksgiving week, but the staff person at the terminal told us the same - it is very difficult to catch it outside where people wait for ubers. My DH finally succeeded when he went back to the terminal building exit, and the uber was there within 5 minutes.
  3. it's not about the food. A lot of it is wasted anyway... Mine does not eat adult size meals even 2 months away from being 13.
  4. always a minimum bid, lol. I am cheap. I think it was $150 pp from an interior to an obstructed balcony, 10 night cruise, Thanksgiving. That's a big difference between guarantee and your choice, :(. Princess used to have them all at the same price.
  5. I would NOT get a guarantee cabin in any category. I would, however, book an interior cabin of my choice if that's what my budget allowed for. I am talking about for a fee upgrade bids that you place. You may win one or not. I think the times of free upgrades are long gone, especially during full holiday sailings. Make sure to stay away from cabins above and below the theater, dining rooms, buffets and pool on the lido deck. The best cabins are away from "white areas" and have cabins above and below. Enchanted has this lovely cheaper balcony category that we love - it's obstructed balconies on deck 8. They are usually a little cheaper than a regular balcony, and the obstruction doesn't bother us. This was our obstructed balcony view on deck 8 on Enchanted (it was a won bid from interior cabin): the life boats are lifted a bit during the port calls, and are lowered during the time at sea. Regal Princess is a sister ship, so they are pretty identical. This was our view from the same deck, different cabins with an obstructed balcony:
  6. do the shuttle both ways and you won't have to bring a car seat. That said, what are you doing in ports of call in terms of a car seat? are you taking taxis? what car seat do you use at home? do you have a travel car seat? is your 2 yo rear facing or forward facing? If you do bring your car seat with you, please make sure to use it on the plane because it's the only way to make sure it doesn't get damaged by the baggage handlers. https://community.babycenter.com/groups/a10635/traveling_with_children https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/28-family-cruises/
  7. check out MSC since you are in Europe...
  8. my humble opinion - no. On our very first cruise out of PE we didn't know any better. We got a 10 am return flight out of FLL and we made it to the gate when they were literally closing the door.... Other people made it to FLL out of PE for their 9 am flight, but I wouldn't risk such an early flight when you are sailing out of POM.

  10. on the US site, you choose the age of the child. 0-12 yo is a child, 13+ - an adult... The cruise I priced for spring break 2025 is: Total price $1,866.34 if you have 2 adults and 1 kid 12 yo and under, and Total price $2,134.34 if you have 2 adults and a teen who is considered an adult.... P.S. That's the cheapest cruise they have for our spring break. And it's not even an Oasis class. All the other ones are priced at hair raising rates.
  11. depends on the airline, but it's not for check-in, but for luggage drop-off. You can check in for your flight at any time within 24 hours before the flight, online. You can check in in person at the airport, but some airlines will not take your luggage more than 4 hours before your flight. Spirit, for example. That said, we were very surprised when Spirit allowed us to drop our luggage off about 7 hours before our flight at FLL. We were at the airport around 10:30 am for our 6 pm flight in November, Saturday of Thanksgiving week. When I asked about the 4 hour limit, the lady said that it was for super busy days like Sunday of the Thanksgiving week.
  12. wait till you find out that RCI considers a 13 yo to be an adult for pricing purposes..... 😞
  13. it now takes 2 weeks unexpedited to get a passport for a minor. And you never know when you might have an emergency.
  14. I wouldn't call RCI's prices reasonable lately.... August-October is still hurricane season, so it will be a hit or miss. Also look at the latest NCL and Carnival ships.
  15. well, you won't be on the ship at that point, so it's not important.
  16. I could swear soda was $3.50 a can last time we were on Enchanted in 2022. we got the soda package for the kiddo in 2022 and he loved all the mocktails. The Key West cooler was by far the best. Zero Mojito was great too! They can make any alcoholic drink into a non-alcoholic. Sometimes we found that not all the mocktails were available through the TV menu. There were more on the app menu. It was totally worth it at $11.60 a day. I guess $15+tip/tax is quite a bit more, but I think it's still worth it if you drink a lot of soda and mocktails. Our kid certainly does. Not at home, but on a cruise he makes that package worth every penny. I bought the fancy coffees for myself with the small amount of OBC we sometimes get.
  17. I wouldn't. The one time we were on it we didn't care for it much. And it had a noro outbreak. Every time I read something about Caribbean Princess on cruisecritic, it seems that every one of those times they have a noro outbreak.
  18. so did we - our flight was at 6 pm.... But it was definitely the ATT network that wasn't working where people were waiting for taxis and ubers. We tried all three phones (all three are on ATT).

  20. At Miami in November 2023 - the photo taken during web check-in was not used. Photo of each of the 5 of us was taken at the terminal and used onboard.
  21. way too soon. Oh, and it was impossible to get the internet on our phones to work when we got out of the terminal and tried to get an uber/lyft. My DH had to go back to the terminal's entrance to get it. The terminal worker told us it was useless... We are not even talking about free wifi here - we couldn't get the ATT data to work. So, it took forever to order a lyft, but it did arrive within 5 minutes.
  22. if you are not in YC, then you are in steerage class. It will be nothing like Celebrity's steerage class. Please read my review in my signature if you want a steerage class person's opinion about Seascape. 🙂 It wasn't all bad at all, but you need to prepare yourself for MSC not being anything like Celebrity when you are not in YC. We are trying Celebrity next, and yes, it's a bit more expensive and an inside cabin instead of a balcony, and no drink package, but we do expect it to be different. The Easy Plus drink package plus wifi if ordered during a booking on MSC is going to be much cheaper than the AI or drink package alone on Celebrity.
  23. June 2024 is wide open and rather cheap on Enchanted. Starting at $2,042 in a balcony for 2 on June 1. 🙂 Of course, it's just a boring West Caribbean itinerary. But Enchanted is also sailing 14 day and Eastern Caribbean in June.
  24. if neither of you is a teacher, I would strongly recommend NOT sailing during a school break. The price is always so much higher.... Since we have a school aged child we are severely limited to school breaks, otherwise, I'd save a ton. The number of kids really depends on the length of the cruise and a specific holiday. We usually sail during Thanksgiving for 1 week, and there is a fair, but not an overwhelming number of kids. In 2022 we sailed on Enchanted during Thanksgiving, but for 10 days, and there was only a handful of kids, while the rest of the passengers were very old. It was very different from the 1 week cruises when it's usually multigenerational. That said, kids usually have longer winter holidays during Christmas, so there will probably be more of them. We've never been on Celebrity, but we have already been on Enchanted once (loved it, you can see my review in the signature), and will be on her again this June. You can always bid on a balcony later and maybe even win a bid. But if a balcony price suits you, go for it. I love having a balcony - I read a book or two on it during a cruise, while my DH and DS enjoy watching the free on-demand movies on Princess. On RCI ships we don't mind an interior room, because we are busy-busy-busy on the ship, with all the super fun family things and activities. On Princess, however, it's a lot more relaxing, with more down time to just chill on a balcony. When we travel with my parents, they usually need a no added salt food, so we request that through the waiter and the headwaiter, looking at the menu the dinner day before and ordering specific dishes without salt. Celiac, though, is a lot more serious, but you will need to make all of your dietary requests in advance with whatever cruise line you choose. Both Celebrity and Princess would be most accommodating, I believe. You can also make this post on Princess subforum. People who have sailed both lines will answer your questions. P.S. Labadee is better than Princess Cays for sure, but the rest of the destinations are lovely on both itineraries. I'd wear water shoes on Princess Cay - we always do after both my kiddo and I cut our feet (he had a severe cut) on the hidden rocks (on the beach and in the water).
