  1. That’s a tough combo, as the stingrays are out in the ocean, so whatever operator you choose would need to have both boats and buses. My recommendation is to DIY a combo, booking two tours (one land, one ocean) with potentially two different operators…or, since it sounds like you are only in port for the afternoon, pick one option to focus on so you aren’t as rushed as you’d likely be trying to cram in both tours.
  2. That’ll be handy, so people can post pics of their rundown cabins…. 😉
  3. The November 25th (2023) Mariner sailing…so fingers crossed that Starlink will be up and running well before then. We’d rather not be the guinea pigs for its first week of operation.
  4. The one company with an easy access stairway (not a ladder) into the water WAS Marineland Tours. I’m not sure if they’ve started up again, I had read that they didn’t survive the lockdown but that was a while ago. I’d suggest trying to contact them (preferably by phone) and see if they are running. If they aren’t, maybe the operator can recommend someone with a similar water entry system on their boats. https://www.marinelandtours.com/cayman_explorer_vessel.php
  5. This past thread has a ton of info on the Haven aft suites…
  6. I’m just going by what I’ve read in other threads here on CC.
  7. We’re in the same boat…literally. 🙂 Booked on the 2026 WC, and all the Mariner complaints have been making me nervous too. We’ve booked a “test cruise” on the Mariner this fall, planning to discount the ship condition a bit in our decision-making process since everyone seems pretty sure there will be a dry dock before 2026. It’s hard to be as excited as we should be, though, when you read endless reports of sewage and bad service…
  8. It's not usually found as a ship-offered excursion, but there are a few private tour companies that sometimes offer a stop there in combination with a stingray city stop and snorkeling. Not sure if any still stop there at the moment due to the ongoing renovations at Rum Point. Your other option would be to rent a car and DIY.
  9. If you’ve never been, Stingray City is the most “famous” attraction, you’d need an excursion of some type to get there as it’s a sandbar out in the ocean. Private or cruise ship excursions both go there. Seven Mile Beach (SMB) is also a popular stop. There are lots of threads about it in this forum. Alternatively, a quick google of “things to do in Grand Cayman” will get you lots of ideas, then you can come back here for answers to more specific questions about your options.
  10. There are no AI resorts on SMB. You can go to Coral Beach, the only beach club left on SMB - https://coralbeach.ky Or you can go to Public Beach, which has restroom facilities and such, and there are usually chair/umbrella/food vendors there when a cruise ship is in port. Or you can DIY at one of the sections of SMB without facilities, like Governors or Cemetery. Check some of the dozens of SMB and general “what beach” threads in this forum to see reviews and more info.
  11. I’m convinced. Booked the Hilton Paddington for two nights. Looks like a great hotel from the videos and reviews.
  12. How reliable is the Heathrow Express? Is there a chance of delays during the morning rush hour? I like the idea of staying somewhere other than the airport, but unless the airport hotels are really sketchy we’ll probably save that until we are actually “visiting” London rather than just squeezing in a short look around. Basically, we’ve got one day of sightseeing sandwiched in-between two travel days on our way to the cruise. So we’ll be doing two trains from the airport area to the main tourist area either way, we just figured it was safer to do those on the non-travel day so that if there are delays or we get lost, we’re not stressing about missing flights or being annoyed because we’re overtired from a long travel day and jet lag. Am I overthinking it? Is transit that much better in London than in Toronto, and we aren’t going to get stuck on a train/bus/subway for an hour due to “unexpected delays” like seems to happen here so often?
  13. Aerotel won’t book stays over 24 hours. Any thoughts on the Hilton?
  14. Grand Cayman to LHR, not Toronto. They sometimes use T5, but it’s T3 on our arrival date. And yes, depart stupid early, thus one of the reasons why we are looking at direct access airport hotels. Especially with the time change, we prefer not to mess around with extra travel on arrival/departure day. I’ll check out the Aerotel, thanks.
  15. Okay, so we have a BA flight into Heathrow, staying two nights before a connection to Oslo for our cruise this September. We are looking for a hotel with direct airport access (no bus) plus relatively easy access to trains to visit London sights (have one full day as an extended layover). We’d originally booked the Sofitel at T5, which seemed to tick all our boxes, but it looks like our flights arrive and depart from T3. Our option there looks to be the Hilton Garden Inn T2/T3…I think. Is the Hilton our best option? Thoughts on best nice/higher end hotels with easy access to the airport and trains?
  16. My mom says she is currently noticing the smoke smell when she’s out on her balcony in Comox. Take that with a grain of salt, though, since she’s almost 80 and spends a lot of time watching the Weather Network.
  17. Does this same procedure apply to people travelling in named suites? Where it says you get a guaranteed reservation each night, do you have to book ahead of time or can you decide day of? And how would that work if you wanted to dine with someone not in a suite?
  18. Have you tried? Works for Canadians
  19. Agreement reached email that came out this morning.
  20. Today’s email. The two links shown in the screenshot are: https://www.westjet.com/en-ca/flights/status https://www.westjet.com/en-ca/guest-updates
  21. I found these recently, and plan to order one (or more) of the fish allergy ones in various languages for our next cruise. Link is to the print at home version, but they have plastic cards you can order as well. May not need it, but I’d rather have it and not use it than need to explain my allergy and have them not understand. https://equaleats.com/products/digital-peanut-allergy-translation-card
  22. Got an email from WestJet this morning about the situation, even though we don’t have any flights booked at the moment. They have a website where they say they will post updates. https://www.westjet.com/en-ca/guest-updates
