  1. Some of it definitely looks better than it tasted but we found plenty to eat on Horizon.
  2. The mac and cheese is the best thing at Pig and Anchor. I wish it was served inside the restaurant instead of walking up to the window out outside. It was cold, rainy and windy the second time I went and none of the food was really warm but I devoured the mac and cheese anyway.
  3. You are welcome. I'm glad to share. There is the strawberry chia seed cold soup on one of the menus one night but I didn't order it so no picture unfortunately.
  4. Christmas dinner things we ordered: Deviled egg appetizer, Short rib and yam croquette (Just okay-it was like the pot roast and sweet potatoes mixed together and deep fried basically like it's name said), Parpadelle pasta with wild mushroom sauce (I love alfredo of most any kind but this was very bland) Grilled shrimp, turkey and dressing (didn't try these), Eggnog cheesecake and pecan pie.
  5. Christmas towel animal Santa and reindeer near the towel station on Lido, some of the Christmas cakes on Christmas Day and an afternoon pizza snack for a family member.
  6. Sea day brunch omelet with side of bacon and hash browns, chocolate layer cake and some smoked beef and mac and cheese from Guy's Pig and Anchor. If you asked for brisket they always say they don't have it so you must ask for "smoked beef" 😄
  7. 2nd night in the MDR. Some of the things ordered at our table that I got pictures of are: marinated chicken tenders (very good dish) appetizer lasagna, broiled striploin, key lime pie and bitter and blanc.
  8. First night dinner: Pappadelle with braised lamb, crawfish strudel, szechuan shrimp, 12 hour braised short ribs. Pasta was pretty good. The shrimp itself was very good but there were only a few shrimp on the plate. The noodles that came with the shrimp dish had no flavor and were greasy. Ribs were kind of overcooked and dry. Mac and cheese was good. The last picture was a pudding dessert from the buffet called "chocolate indulgence". It was pretty good.
  9. We were on the December 23-31 Horizon Christmas cruise from Miami. Port stops were Bonaire, Aruba and Dominican Republic. Overall, it was a good cruise. It was our 4th Carnival cruise and we've sailed on two recent Royal Caribbean cruises. I wouldn't rate this as my favorite cruise. I think the entertainment and food was much better on prior cruises on Vista and Dream. Our whole family thought there was room for improvement on Horizon but we still enjoyed the cruise. One of the things I missed on RC was the cakes in the buffet. I remembered them being so good on both Vista and Dream. I've read several times where people said they didn't like them because they were dry and I didn't believe it because my experience had been so good. However this time the cakes looked the same as before but every time I tried them I thought they were dry and the icing tasted like butter or shortening. They weren't very sweet at all. They do look pretty. First day cakes:
  10. We really liked Rafi. He is a Puerto Rican guy now living in the USA and that was what a lot of his comedy was about. My son saw him one evening after the show and talked to him. He was very personable and funny. We also thought Keith Nelson was very nice. Now if you can just find out who will be on March 16-23 on Jubilee???
  11. Update: Saint Greg, the comedians on our December 23-31st cruise were Dylan Vattelana, Manny Oliviera, Rafi Gonzales and Keith Nelson.
  12. Yes, but do I have to order it ahead of time or can I order it once we are in the room?
  13. I just looked on the Carnival website and Sprite Zero wasn't listed. I am thinking about ordering the Pepsi Zero. Does anyone know if this is available to be ordered once onboard or only from the website before boarding?
  14. Are they able to make frozen drinks in the casino such as a mocha chocolate getaway or kiss on the lips. I've never tried either one of them but those are the two I keep reading are most associated with Carnival so it seems like they would be available if they have the machines to make them.
  15. Very nice review and pictures. Thank you for sharing this!
  16. Those are the photos I like to buy. I have photos of us as we get off the ship with their sign showing the name of the location, photos of us around the ship and in the main dining room, and even with the towel animal. I love the photos that show the fun we are having on a cruise. I don't really like the photos taken in front of the backdrops on formal night. I can have those done at local photo studios.
  17. I just followed this link to see what terminal Horizon will be in for our December 23, 2023 cruise and it isn't showing Horizon at all that day. I had to go to the Carnival site to make sure that is the day we leave and it is correct.
  18. I don't want to go there. I just want to see it from Aruba. Well, actually I don't even want to do that but I have a family member that really wants to so I would like to make it happen for them.
  19. On our Carnival cruise we will only be in port from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm. I've seen videos that show you can go to the end of the island to Baby beach and also to a mountain that has steps you can climb to the top and look over and see the mainland, Venezuela. I can't find an excursion on Carnival's website that goes to either of these 2 places. Since the ship leaves so early, what would be the best way to do this? Taxi? Private tour? I'm not sure about renting a car for such a short amount of time.
  20. Gotcha! I will try to remember to come back and let you know which comedians we have. This one is an 8 day.
  21. Wow, four? That will be great! I did a search on the social media Punchliner group and didn't come up with anything that week but if I do I will let you know. You will most likely know way before I do so I will be checking the schedule on your site often until our cruise.
  22. Hi Greg, I have a totally unrelated question. I looked at the Punchliner Comedy schedule on your site and it has a gap the week we'll be on Horizon. Do you know if there will be comedians on the ship the week of Christmas?
  23. Hello, I am wanting to rent a car at Miami International Airport and return it at a location closer to the cruise port, then get a shuttle to the cruise. I have been researching this online and found that Avis and Budget have a location on 2nd street that has a shuttle to take passengers to the cruise port when they return the rental car. I have reading conflicting information about whether Hertz does this. Do anyone have any experience doing this recently?
  24. In December, we rented a car from Avis at the Ft. Lauderdale airport and returned it at the cruise port location. They had a shuttle bus to give us a ride to the cruise port. We were the only ones on the shuttle and he dropped us off right in front of the terminal. It was a quick ride since this location is just outside the cruise port. It worked out perfectly. We were very pleased.
  25. That is great news!!!! Joey took Matt Michum's place on Vista for the week during our first cruise in 2019. We still think he is the best cruise director and have been hoping he would be our cd on another cruise.
