  1. I have stayed in it and yes it is slightly larger, but quite a bit of noise coming from deck 17 and also from the crew access / service area near the access to the lido deck. A lot of cart movement (towel racks ) etc. It is also obstructed as you really only have a 90 degree view as you cannot see aft.

  2. Wimbledon hadn't started yet....

There original question had to do with the Euro 2016 football tournament and my reply was to that question.

I was very disappointed as I expected given the popularity of the Euro Football/ Soccer tournament that it would be shown or made available. Especially given the passenger mix with so many Europeans . I was only able to keep up to date because of the Internet, crew and while at port.

  3. We did the UBD while in Santorini since we had a late departure (10PM) and it is also a tender port. We scheduled it for 7:30 and we were on the sunny side of the ship and we were able to enjoy sunset while eating on our balcony. Because of how long the UBD takes we were just finish in when we were leaving port. I can honestly say the price you pay is well worth the experience and the service.

  4. Yes , on Princess Cruises, but if you are asking about Royal Caribbean, this is the wrong forum. Princess has no ships named liberty and they no longer cruise out of Galveston.

  5. Can you fill a travel coffee mug in the buffet? Or is that prohibited like the personal water bottle?

It's not prohibited, but the guidance and most hygienic thing to do is fill a glass with water and then pour it into your bottle or mug. We do this all the time especially on days where my DW goes to Zumba. I usually fill the glass with one hand while I am holding the bottle in my other hand.

  6. Unlike many on the boards, I have not been on numerous Princess ships, just one, Regal. Having been on Carnival the "Fun Ships" i really didn't know what to expect and honestly, had my mind made up that this wouldn't be fun. WRONG WRONG WRONG. This ship was stunning in every concept of the word. It did take me a good day to get my bearings as to directions and such, but I found it incredibly easy to navigate around. I don't like buffet food ( bad experience on Carnival), but thought wth and try this. OMG, for buffet food by far better than any other ship or land buffet I had ever been on.

I loved it so much, I am going BACK on Regal in Feb 2017 and am even more excited than I was before. Because of things I discovered close to the end of the cruise, now I will experience the entire cruise :)

I completely agree with you. I think many of the criticism of this type of ship are from the highly experienced Princess who have become accustomed to some of the design features of other Princess ships such as the Grand Class. On the Grand class ships there are walkaround promenades, larger balconies particularly on Caribe deck where the balcony is almost 9-10 ft deep, and AFT pools. These are features that are not typical of most contemporary cruise ships.

I was also an experienced Carnival cruiser when I went onboard the Royal the first time so for me I did not feel I was missing out on anything. In addition, since I had only been on one Princess cruise before I went I was not bothered by the comparisons between Club 6 and Skywalkers or the size and location of the Wheelhouse bar. I did not have point of reference to raise complaints. Personally , I love the Royal / Regal Class of Princess ships and they are actually my favorite class at this time and in fact I can't wait to get back on the royal in 28 days :).

  7. You can always skip dining in the main dining rooms on formal nights. Eat at one of the alternative restaurants or the buffet. Will save you room in your luggage by not taking your formal clothes. Having said that, we choose to dress on formal nights, no matter where we are cruising.

This cruise will be be very different for us . Normally we look forward to the dress up part, but now we are "freaking" out about the packing. Luckily it's easier for me, my tux and some shirts which can be washed . For my DW, it could prove to be challenging lol.

  8. This year I will be on my first cruise in the Mediterranean. It is also going to be my longest cruise to date (14-day) and it happens to have a total of 4 formal nights. We are pretty used to how people dress on the 10-day and under Caribbean cruises and my DW and I enjoy dressing up for formal nights. I will typically be in black tie and my DW in a cocktail dress.

    The questions are:

What should we expect on a 14-day port intensive Mediterranean with only 2 sea days?

Do passengers tend to be more casual or more formal especially considering that there is a greater mix of passengers on board (countries & cultures) then a typical Caribbean / Mexico cruise?

  9. I am hoping someone can answer this question. I am currently booked on the June 11 Royal Princess 14-day in the Mediterranean. One of the ports is Rome and there is so much we want to do there. We have thought about taking one of the comprehensive excursions, to get everything in , but it still seems rushed.

Is it possible to leave the ship and rejoin it at the next port? Obviously we would advise the ship our plan, but is it even possible?

What I would like to do is leave the ship and then take a train to Florence or Livorno which is the next port. We would either stay in Rome overnight and travel the next day or spend the night in Florence. The cost between the two cities is less than 50 euro for two people with advance reservations so this is very tempting. The train ride itself is about two hours.
