  1. Ports berth times vary, but even with 10 hours at berth, as Pensioner says, be careful. We have seen people running along the pier, to the amusement of other passengers, and luckily, on a couple of occasions, the captain has waited a short while. I find it useful to check which other ships are also in port that day using website - whatsinport. Busy days can add to time getting through the cruise terminal - apologies if I am teaching my grandmother to suck eggs! Marella bus transfer to Rome gives you approx 6h in Rome, I wouldn't consider the train. However, in Naples, we used the train for Herculanium without issue by doing a bit of research before we went. Have a great cruise.
  2. BIL and SIL flew from Leeds in June with Jet2. Check-in was swift, but they then joined the long security queue outside, and had to be pulled out from that queue sometime later, in order to catch their flight, so no better than TUi.
  3. Enjoy the cruise David and if possible send a few updates on what happening on board please (good or bad)
  4. I would expect Marella to provide any antigen test free of charge for calling at Corfu, based on this part of the email - Onboard Any antigen (rapid flow) tests you need once we’re sailing will be provided by us at no extra cost.
  5. Not sure if this has always been the case (or if its just me), but when I look at airport arrivals and departure boards online (various airports inc abroad), Tui flights don't appear to be showing actual take off time, arrival time, delays, etc. - only scheduled Are they trying to make delays more difficult to spot?
  6. In the meantime, I would check your policy details to see if legal assistance is offered - I would have thought that it would be included in many policies, but worth checking. When they were asked to accept the medical bill, one wonders what Marella said to them about the cause of the incident/accident.
  7. Have you checked your travel insurance for legal cover? If so, ring them. Our travel insurance with LV has a section for legal advice and assistance when any illness or injuries are caused by negligence, and if the case has a more than 51% likely hood of success, they will pay up to £25,000 legal costs to pursue it.
  8. Did you raise the complaint whilst on the ship, after presumably being attended to by the medical staff on board?
  9. Thanks RR. Yes that's the one I booked, but after reading on another thread (single outside cabin) that 4053 and 4028both were noisy at night, I started to worry it may be the same. Luckily, previous neighbours have been OK, apart from a fully occupied 4 berth on Majesty a few years ago. Now always check deck plans carefully and book in a 2 berth area.
  10. Anyone stayed in 4074 or an adjacent cabin please? Is it quiet?
  11. Wow. When I first read the phrase, 'he handled a man overboard', I thought it was a disruptive passenger - before reading the rest of the sentence! Must get my imagination in check. 😂
  12. Tui must have changed the testing time, which is probably why different people give different answers. We sailed first week of March this year, and at that time Tui stated the test should be done after 9pm the day before flying. We also worried about the timing, as it was our first encounter with the procedure. If its now anytime the day before, that's a benefit, but as you fly on the same plane as non-tested people, still a bit pointless from some respects.
  13. Perhaps tell us which bank do you have the account with, then someone with a similar account may help. There is a long thread on cruise insurance on the P&O board if you can find it, which covered lots of providers, but it was several months ago. I seem to recall that policies underwritten by AXA and Allianz were the most comprehensive, but relatives who have Coop Bank cover told me that policies today are not as comprehensive as the ones they have, as they have had an account with Coop for several years
  14. Sorry to here your predicament Dave. I would call the surgery as suggested by Dronnygirl, explain the situation and ask if the they get any cancellations, to contact you perhaps. Missed appointments would appear to be commonplace at our GPs, judging by the pronouncements on our surgery notice boards
  15. I'm not sure really, apart from phone waiting times are usually 15-20 mins, and we still can't book appointments online since the pandemic, which is understandable to a degree. Looking at the surgery car park which we pass regularly, many appointments must be by telephone, as its virtually deserted of patients and doctors cars most days
  16. Well, after filling out and signing the required forms for our paper records, we arrived at GP surgery, to encounter a different receptionist, who suggests - why not request digital access. Anyway, original forms were shredded by receptionist, whilst we fill new forms in. and 3 hours later we are viewing our records online via the 'Patient Access App' Result!
  17. Apologies, after looking at Google maps, I'm now wondering if my memory of where we docked in Barcelona 2018 is correct. Perhaps someone else from that cruise could confirm whether a bus was required. However, Barcelona is a fabulous place to dock as so much to see and do, its a pity they don't do overnights there.
  18. In Nov 2018 the Discovery docked adjacent to the Ramblas. It was a repositioning cruise we were on, which finished in Jordan. First year Discovery went to far east I believe. If you fancy Barcelona, there is another repositioning cruise from Corfu to Tenerife, calling at Barcelona at the end of October (26th), which is good value
  19. B - On our NHS App, under your GP health record, with various headings - Immunisations, health conditions, test results, consultations and events, documents, I get the David Walliams response 'You do not currently have access to this section' (aka computer says no!) We can order prescriptions and see appointments booked - but can't book any online since Covid '
  20. I believe some people can view their patient records on-line via the Patient Access App. We can't so we are currently in the process of asking our GP practice for our patient records, so we can check what is recorded, to try to avoid mis-declaring at insurance renewal.
  21. If you look at the coloured deck plans of the Explorer on the website (not the screen that comes up when 'choosing a cabin' during booking), the the variations are explained via markers like (*) open squares etc. Most cabins with 2 singles can be made into a double, but I believe from the deck plans that some are 'L' shape configuration Where there are 2 options for a cabin grade during booking, the different prices suggest to me that some of the cheaper option prices, have pull down beds to make 4 berth.
  22. I hope thats not the quote that the captain of the Costa Concordia said? 😂
  23. It was originally the Celebrity Mercury, then passed to TUi and sailed as the Mein Schiff Hertz, so perhaps check what people previously said regarding aft cabins. The decor will have changed but the basic construction could be largely as built, so their views could still be valid, As you say, can't see mention of a screen on the pool deck, but would be surprised if there wasn't one.
