Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. My BIL has been asked more than once to vacate a treadmill.
  2. We too, were on this cruise. Yes, some overcrowded venues, especially while in Canada. Canadian regulations only permit one beverage venue per deck to be open while in Canadian waters.
  3. 1. You will most likely depart the US the day before your scheduled departure date. 2. Yes. 3. This is usually an airline issue. 4. As I understand their system, I don’t believe that it is humanly handled. I think a bot looks for flights and then books. If the connection meets the standards they go with it. I had a tight connection with another cruise company (61 minutes through Atlanta) I called to discuss this and was told that a standard international connection minimum through Atlanta was 60 minutes, they finally relented and booked me on a flight 2 hours earlier, which I didn’t mind. I recently found that NCL is unwilling to change anything until a flight is canceled.
  4. NCL rebooked us on another to-be-canceled flight (instead of a flight leaving 75 minutes later, which was within the window of operation). As NCL refused to move me to the later flight, I was getting ready to pull the trigger and book a flight out of FLL when the airline canceled and moved us to the later flight..
  5. A “regular” NCL cruise consultant as I called before air was open. Yes, I am aware of the direct number and I called it. Press “1” if you are en route to your ship today, all others, press “2.” If you press 2 you end up in the regular caller queue and they may or may not move you to air for assistance.
  6. UPDATE - The airline canceled and rebooked us on a flight scheduled to arrive 20 minutes after the ship departs. Got bounced around by NCL until a “regular” took charge and dealt with NCL air.
  7. Yes, after my initial discussion Saturday morning with a very helpful “regular” she gave me the direct number for the air department and that is with whom I was on the phone with last night. They were emphatically unhelpful.
  8. Why would you assume I did not get insurance? I did get insurance but turns out that hurricane coverage only applies to my house being uninhabited, not the airport being shut down.
  9. Yes, we did. Six family members. Everyone’s okay. Thank you for asking. We bought a generator and portable ice machine (we had seven bags in our chest freezer) after Irma so we were prepared. After we got our power back I was able to loan my generator to a friend who just got power restored yesterday.
  10. NCL does not mean Norwegian Cruise Line, it really stands for No Care Line I am scheduled to sail Sunday out of NYC, with my NCL air leaving Ft. Myers Sunday morning at 7:10 arriving in NY just before 10:00, plenty of time to get to the pier. I live about 3 miles from the Ft. Myers airport. Very convenient! Hey, has anyone heard about this weather event called Hurricane Ian? It has caused the closure of the Ft. Myers airport; although it is scheduled to reopen Wednesday. No problem, airport is open. Well only sort of. Upon reopening the earliest permitted departure is 8:30. I chatted with Delta and the flight is still scheduled, even though under current FAA guidelines it cannot depart. So, wanting to be proactive, I called NCL. They don’t care. They won’t even consider a Plan B. If the flight is canceled any time after Thursday morning I am at the mercy of the airline. They won’t book me on an alternative flight, won’t reschedule me out of an alternate airport. Won’t do anything. The first person who didn’t help me cut me off instead of sending me to the resolution desk. I called back and got moved up to the resolution desk. No help. The don’t have authority to resolve anything. I was on the phone so long it died on me. This will be my last NCL cruise.
  11. I put mine in plastic luggage tag holders, specifically made for cruise tags.
  12. Are you her travel advisor? I’d just say “beats me, but I wouldn’t risk having my prized musical instrument being lost, damaged, or confiscated.”
