  1. I am not aware of any Celebrity ship that has waterslides.
  2. I don't know why it doesn't give you the refundable option with AI (I tried it myself for this cruise and saw the same thing), but as a solo passenger, AI rarely makes sense. If you do the math on the numbers you provided for non-refundable fares, the difference is about $128 per day which is more than it would cost you to buy a drink package and wi-fi separately. Personally, I would just focus on the cruise only fares and then add what you want after the fact.
  3. As fun as the waterpark sounds (and I grew up going to Noah's Ark in the Wisconsin Dells, America's Largest Waterpark), we have never been able to swallow the price when we have visited CocoCay.
  4. My husband compares the Celebrity provided ones to being no better than using two toilet paper rolls taped together. I agree that you should bring your own, if you think you will want to use them.
  5. Congratulations on winning your bid! Yes, you can show up when you want. And yes I would cancel your MDR reservations. I would probably do it now in the cruise planner in case the Edge is actually making use of the reservation system (with Edge class ships, there doesn't seem to be consistency in whether they only take walk-ups or use the reservation system).
  6. Check out posts 10, 17, and 25 for examples of people who moved up from a lower suite to an upper suite. The Move-Up language may not be super clear but a move-up to an upper suite gives you everything as if you had originally booked that suite except the CC points. An upgrade from a SS to an EV would get you the free laundry, reserved seating, unlimited specialty dining, two liquor bottles and stocked mini bar, etc. plus the premium drink package (which you already have) and a 4 device premium wifi package per person.
  7. As you quote from CBP, on closed loop cruises that don't require a passport, you may be able to use an Enhanced ID (only offered in about 5 states) instead of a birth certificate (not sure on Celebrity's specific policy on this). I've never heard of being able to use a Real ID (which is different than an Enhanced ID) with Global Entry for a closed loop cruise.
  8. This would be a completely appropriate response from the Maitre'D, management, etc. But that doesn't mean it will get good results. The parent is fully aware of how their child is behaving. If they haven't already acted, a simple statement like this probably isn't going to suddenly make them act in a way that stops the behavior.
  9. Allowed in what sense? Do I think crew should have the responsibility to step in every time someone is disrupting someone else? Generally, no. There is a lot of gray area in figuring out what is disruptive to one person vs another and I think the crew have better things to do. When it is more clear cut, I think security or management would be better equipped to handle it than a server, cleaning crew, etc. Do I wish people would be more self-aware and care more about how their behaviors affect others? Absolutely. This world would be a lot better place if we all were more considerate about how our behaviors affect those around us. And I think the comments that mention the adults are pointing out the fact that the adults are the root of the problem. Children get a bad rap but they are only behaving how they have been taught to behave. If the children are behaving badly, they are likely seeing bad role models in the adults in their life. So even if you take the children off the ship, you are still left with the adults who don't know how to behave themselves.
  10. Celebrity advertises to families. It is absolutely a family-friendly cruise line. And not all children need water slides, go-karts, etc. to be entertained. Many people see family vacations as a way to show their children the larger world, not as a way to take them to an amusement park. I do completely agree with your comments about parental responsibility though and adults have that same responsibility over their own behavior. On all the cruises I have taken across many lines, the number of disruptive adults I have seen far exceeds the number of disruptive children I've seen.
  11. As long as they are a minor, the parent always has responsibility. That 5 year old running around the restaurant or that 10 yelling are just being kids who haven't been taught or expected to behave. They have a parent who is choosing to ignore their behavior instead of address it. But yes it's unfortunate the parents who don't expect their children to behave often are ones that will get very offended if outsiders say anything which is a big part of what makes the Maitre'D hesitate to speak up.
  12. The thumb drive we received on the northern loop (the week before @mahdnc's cruise) only included a power point file with the images. It's not too hard to save individual photos from a power point file.
  13. I still enjoy a lot about Celebrity and it is one of the top cruise lines I check before deciding on the next one. We had an amazing time on the Xpedition in November and a great cruise on the Eclipse last May. On the Eclipse, even though we were in an interior stateroom, we had one of the best room stewards we have ever had and our waiter went out of his way to accommodate my food allergy.
  14. If you don't want to be around children, you need to pick a line that doesn't allow them. So I don't agree with banning them from dining venues on Celebrity. We have been taking my niece and nephew on cruises (on a variety of lines) since they were infants, eating in the MDR and specialty dining restaurants. They were always expected to behave and were removed on the rare occasions they did not. That said, we all have a responsibility to not be disruptive to everyone around us. That means removing a screaming child that can't be soothed. It also means as an adult not getting so drunk you are making a loud scene. Although it doesn't happen all that often, in my experience, it has more often been adults that are disruptive on cruises.
  15. It could be worse. I can read through the toilet paper on Carnival. I suspect the choice of toilet paper is a combination related to cost (think of how much toilet paper a cruise ships goes through) AND the fact that the plumbing system is quite a different from on land and they have to be able to process it all on board.
  16. iMessage did not work on the Eclipse or the Constellation for my cruises last year and in 2022 without being logged into a paid internet plan. There were a number times I forgot to switch the internet back to my cellphone (from my laptop) and tried to send my husband a message. It failed to go through each time (until I reconnected to my paid internet plan).
  17. I would not expect much to be done besides general maintenance. She only has a gap in the schedule of a little over 2 weeks. The revolution is still on hold and in my opinion, likely will not ever be re-started.
  18. I just laugh at complaints about rust, missing elevator buttons, curtains, etc. because in mid-2022 we sailed on a cruise of another line that had multiple elevators out of service for the entire two weeks we were on, every public bathroom had at least one non-working toilet and often a non-working sink, buckets could be seen in the halls for leaks, the AC didn’t work in parts so you were constantly walking in and out of cold and hot areas, so many tiles were loose in the pool they could be stacked into designs, etc. Those, especially all on the same ship at the same time, were significant maintenance issues to me and although they didn’t ruin our cruise at times they made it a little less pleasant. I expect there to be rust on a ship that lives on the ocean and curtains and cushions won’t stay new forever. Although I haven’t sailed the Summit recently, I have cruised the Constellation (a non-revolutionized sister to the Summit) twice in the last couple of years and I found it to be in good condition for a ship of its age (despite negative reviews I have read).
  19. It seems to be pretty inconsistent who gets the PowerUp e-mails and who doesn't and for how long. My husband generally gets them. I generally don't yet we both get more than our share of promotional e-mails. I've tried re-signing up but nothing works. I have not written any e-mails complaining so I'm not sure it is tied to that. It's just an automated system that doesn't always work like its supposed to.
  20. If you win a bid to a SS from a IV, you would get access to the Retreat and Luminae. The only thing you would not get is the premium drink package and premium internet (unless you had already purchased them separately). With MoveUp, you get all the amenities of the room (Retreat, Luminae, Concierge, priority boarding, premium drinks in the Retreat Lounge/Michaels, etc.) but keep any perks of your original booking (wi-fi, internet, and OBC). You also earn loyalty points at the rate of your original booking.
  21. And a minor who was Asian. Being scrutinized so closely is going to stick with that 17 year old (and unfortunately, it likely won't be the last time). If they truly were worried about human trafficking, they would have also been concerned about the white children with this couple and scrutinized them all.
  22. Coco Cay's beaches are beautiful and if you get out there early and head over to Chill Island, it isn't quite as crazy. I can't compare to Castaway Cay as that is one of the few private islands I haven't been to but compared to the others I have been to, Coco Cay is the most amusement park-like and can get very crazy especially if you are in port with an Oasis class ship. One really nice thing about Coco Cay is that there is a dock so you don't have to worry about waiting for tenders.
  23. It does not which is why Celebrity's clear policy says that if last names don't match, additional documentation is required. In this case, last names matched.
  24. It can vary from cruise to cruise but for my January 2025 Ascent cruise, it has been showing a 20% discount for quite some time. I don't think I've seen less than a 5% discount in recent years.
