Another option if you are energetic, is to rent a car for the day. We picked up our car, threw the luggage in the trunk and did a little sightseeing and mall visiting. Then we had a nice dinner and dropped the car off a couple of hours before our flight.

Download your airline's mobile app If you have a smartphone. Then you can check in when you dock, store your boarding pass on the phone and get off as early as you can. Good luck - we don't like being rushed either

Like the hypothetical or real one year old, dh and I don't eat in upcharge restaurants, we don't drink alcohol or coffees, we don't do ships excursions - too many people, and we don't enjoy gambling. Should we pay extra too? We do leave our gratuities in place of course and tip extra when warranted.

Airlines and cruise lines both annoy me by not keeping passengers informed about delays, cancellations, etc. I realize there are times that there is not enough information to make an informed decision and announcement, but there are plenty of times they don't say anything till the just possible moment leaving passengers to scramble.

We took the Aegean Odyssey a few years ago and excursions were included in the price.

If you're going on a 4 day cruise, you each might think about only bringing a carry on. Then you can just wheel it to your stateroom.

My granddaughter eats ginger candies - from Trader Joe's I think - and no longer gets seasick. This from a child who once created a haz mat alert in the mdr by throwing up all over the place! We laugh about it now but it was not so funny when it happened. She packs Dramamine as a back up but hasn't used it in years.

For those folks like us that are booked somewhere with a stop in Houston, the airlines will reroute you with no change fee - or at least united will. We are now flying through Chicago - better for us and for the people that actually need to get to and from Houston.

Maybe your dad should not have his sign and sail card with him so he cannot get off the ship accidentally? Maybe you can put a card in a lanyard or bracelet that has his name and cabin number and explains that he has memory issues?
I sincerely hope you all enjoy the cruise.

We have a chase premier united mileage plus card for which we pay $100 a year. Besides no foreign transaction fee, it has $10,000 of travel insurance.
Our granddaughter had a ruptured appendix before on of our cruises and she and her parents were unable to cruise. the card reimbursed us for her and her parent's cruise fares. The reimbursement was almost 6K so that paid the $100 yearly fee for a few years.
I think most of the major airlines in the USA have similar cards.

I check the weather even though there is nothing I can do about it just like I check traffic conditions even though there is very little I can do about them as well.

Be very careful with Verizon. We have bought their global plan at least 6 or 7 times and there are always extra charges on our bill. Sometimes it takes several phone call to get them reversed. If you think you were overcharged or charged in error, keep after them. If you realize it was your error, learn from it and be more careful next time.

I generally get to the airport 2 hours before take off. I go through security, head for the gate and sit and read and relax till boarding time.

I guess if I saw a show on tv that I disliked for whatever reason, I would just switch channels?

Assuming the private company has excellent ratings and you will be returned to the ship a couple of hours before departure, I would go with it!

If you plan to get off at the beach, be sure to book a boat with a ladder to climb down to the beach. Otherwise, it's a long jump down and even worse to get back on.

If you have Verizon, they have a plan for $2 a day while in any Mexican port that features unlimited calling, texting and data - just like if you were home in the USA. This is true only in port. It must be set up ahead of time with them before you leave.
It worked very well this summer in Cabo, puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan.

If I were in your circumstances, I would have the person check with her doc. I would have a lot more confidence in a medical opinion than hearing what a cruise line or other people think.

We took the local bus to maho beach. We had a great time chatting with both local folks and other tourists as well. Made the travel time pass in a flash.

From what I have read and heard I would say you have about a 90% chance of making your flight. Only you can decide if that is good enough.

We don’t read in direct sunlight so we use the kindle app on our iPhones. Up to 5 people can share a kindle account. We have over 500 books on our account, keep maybe 20 on our phone at a time and then send them back to the cloud as we finish them. You get used to the small screen. We have so much other electronic gear that we really don’t have the space for 2 extra ereaders.
