    Fire hazard

Check your passage contract and follow the link to "Prohibited Items."

As others have mentioned, on some sailings, particularly out of the UK, there are kettles in the cabins.

So, apparently, not all kettles are a fire hazard...

These are apparently removed and stored when the ships leave the UK.

So, on other sailings, Princess must have a big pile of kettles in the basement.

It's odd that they won't provide one of those.

Some are indeed sincere in their issues while others are not so sincere.  There is a group whose goal is to demean the OM effort any chance they get.

Can you link a 'demeaning' post?

Most of the negative posts I have seen are of two flavors "I don't see this offering any benefit to me.",

and "I don't like the intrusion of princess knowing so much abut me".

Both of those seem to be reasonable opinions for someone to hold.

Personally, I have been truly enjoying the medallion saga.

It take marketing chutzpa to be unable to get a single ship to work, while announcing a roll-out

schedule (by date) for subsequent ships.   Then, failing, and announcing more dates.

I don't think the sky is falling, but maybe it is...

Way to jump to the conclusion you want to reach.

You wrote: "A few disgruntled posters on CC represent a tiny fraction of the number of people using the app.  And some of these posters obviously do not like the change and are using any and every chance to bash it."

Seems pretty disrespectful to the people who are sincere.

I had almost no issues downloading and setting up the app.  (There are numerous posts to that effect too.)  Quite frankly, I found the software easy to use.  I will see how it actually works on a ship in a week.

Do you think the people posting about difficulties installing / using the App(s) are lying?

That it was easy for you doesn't mean it was easy for everyone.

Personally, I assume they are truthful, and mostly seeking help, rather than complaining.

Hang in there.  The entire medallion program; from the medallion class app to the ocean ready app has some bugs or issues. I know it is frustrating; but rest assure; Princess IT are working overtime; trying to fix the app issues.

How could you know if they are working overtime, or slacking off -- unless you work there or have other intimate knowledge of the developers?

My observation -- the Global Innovators have struggled and struggled; and now they have hired Accenture to

    try and bail them out.

My experience with Accenture -- they are  excellent at generating billings.

(I like to post positive comments)

Late boarding and departure are disappointing!  I am holding a balcony, but reconsidering because of this factor...basically missing an afternoon on board.

...and if there is bad weather, and the ship has to slow on the crossing...

A few (probably more) Grand arrived in Ft. Lauderdale from a crossing around 2:00pm, rather than 7:00am because of weather.

And, what about Coast Guard inspections when the ship first enters the US?

Anyway, used the robes for blankets and a towel and our hoodies for a pillow with the lounger propped up a bit. It was really nice. Until the window washing rig showed up above us on the bridge windows sometime around 2 or 3 AM, I'm guessing. Lovely surprise.

Often when I go out on the balcony first thing in the morning, it is quite salty; and others have had issues with soot.

The window washing would be a benefit, so I don't wake up salty or sooty...

For anyone that thinks leaving the balcony door open is a good idea, check out this recent thread:

Look for the explanations by chengkp75 and Heidi13, posters with management experience on cruise ships of why that shouldn't be done.  Of course there are also some posters who basically say they paid for the cruise, they can do whatever they want!

On the other hands, some ships have a switch which disables the cabin air handler if the balcony door is opened.

If Princess viewed this as an important issue, they could configure their ships this way.

If they put the sofa bed back together before the room steward sees them, they will not find out. But I completely agree - you can easily be charged for it.

If anyone on the bridge sees the mattress on the balcony, you will probably be rousted.

After the Star fire they are pretty strict about leaving anything on the balcony overnight -- swimsuits, towels, etc.

Early walk off may start as early as 7:00am, wheel your own luggage. You could be at the airport by taxi at 7:40 or so. If you have TSA pre-check you can get through the security line fairly quickly.

The last time I disembarked Royal in Ft, Lauderdale, I drove out of the parking garage at 06:49.

    (I have the timestamp)

That was with walk-off luggage, and includes passing through immigration/customs, and paying to exit the garage.

As long as one can walk off with their bags, I would risk an early flight.

Your mileage may vary.  Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear.  etc

Installed on an old phone I use onlu as MP3 player, Android 6.0.1

Playstore says not available for my tablet, Android 8.1.1

    All Samsung devices

So, it's still a work in progress?  Really?

Which size screens to support (handset, tablet, tv, etc) is a developer decision.

That the app doesn't install on a tablet doesn't indicate that it isn't finished, just

that someone decided that it shouldn't...

Pincess@Sea doesn't work on walkie talkies, and walkie talkies don't work well on ships (too much steel) plus they annoy the heck out of other passengers,

Princess@Sea has a messaging function but you don't get notifications if you have a message, you just have to keep checking. However we find it useful.

    This has been covered before.

    Send a message with p@sea.

Scream into your walkie-talkie 'check your messages'!

The casino (whether Vegas or cruise ship) specifies the  payout percentage to the vendor of the machine and the vendor programs that into the machine's chip.  The chip can be switched out to change the payout percentage.

    Exactly.

    Ever see a slot-tournament in a land-based casino?

They rope off a block of machines.

In the old days, they would change out a board -- now, I assume they can do it remotely.

The tournament machines pay off like crazy.   This generates lots of excitement for

    the observers...

Carnival's Ocean Player's Club runs the casinos onboard carnival corporation ships.

The is a company incorporated in Panama.   Why would they have the slightest

interest in Nevada regulations, or any other location?

I have never seen anything from the Ocean Player's Club that says we follow the rules of _________.

A long time ago, on the old Royal Cruise Line, they followed Atlantic City rules.

They had lots of dealers from AC...

Like the Caribbean Princess was for so very long?  😉

    Regal was long before Caribbean.

The global innovators were unable to complete Regal before it left for the summer in europe,

so they carried on innovating on Carribbean.

There are a billion posts here:

Looking back, I'm puzzled what was replaced with ***** in a lot of medallion posts.

Medallion certainly deserves some bad words, but I don't remember any being posted...

layout is a bit different from Royal Princess to the Caribbean Princess.  We have stayed in a sideways on Regal and Caribbean. The royal class ships were built with the newer bigger tvs in mind...so they are wall mounted we just did 2 weeks on the Caribbean princess in a sideways R508 and since the smaller tv used to be mounted up on a small shelf above the long counter the newer big screen interactive tv is now taking up that long lovely counter

    That TV mounting is horrible.

I would never have such a hack in my home.

If would have been simple enough to use a ceiling mount, and have the tv just above the original tube-tv shelf.

    ...and retain the counter space.

I know this is devious ... and I even hate to suggest it in a public forum...

But, I suggest you go to the lido during breakfast service, and ask...

There is always a head waiter or supervisor in charge of the area, so you can ask them directly.

On the fourth hand, can't one just get an omelet made to order in the main dining room?
