  1. I too can suffer from swollen feet and my doctor suggested that it could be a factor of things, but the biggest one being inactivity and not keeping myself hydrated with enough water.

When I thought about it, both of these I'm probably guilty of at the start of a trip. A long air flight, 9+hrs, then often all we do is unpack and go to bed, followed by a couple of lazy-ish days, with an increased alcohol consummation. [We rarely drink, maybe an odd glass or two a month]

Since then, we have always taken at least a litres worth of water on a flight each, and have more water each time it is offered, get up and do some gentle leg exercises and try to take a walk before bed, and to walk the next couple of days as well.

I have certainly found this helps greatly.

There has also been a debate

on another cruise page, P&O about this and many people swear that drinking the desalinated water on board the ship makes water retention worse, but I'm not convinced.

Only drink bottled water. Our feet swell as well when we don’t. Some food items are over salted which will make you retain water.

  2.

Laughing at your comment about the Happy Birthday sign:D.

MalbecWine: So you have been on all luxury cruise lines. I'm impressed. We have only been on Silversea (besides for Regent) and didn't see any door decorations. Which is your favorite luxury cruise line? Just curious.

We like Regent and Seabourn and have done a couple of Crystal their ships are getting long in the tooth but good service. Silversea was too formal for us.

You probably would have seen Christmas decorations on some suites but as I mentioned you don’t see many. Some charters or partial charters will have some for their groups and saw this on the Voyager a couple of years ago...nothing political is allowed however.

  3. We had a paper Christmas Reef on our door over the holidays and so did others with other holiday decorations. My gosh what is the big deal? We have seen this on all luxury lines. Some of us are young at heart and it’s not like someone looking at the artwork nor was the ship loaded with door decorations...just walk by it.

  4. I was told that CC and Trip Advisor are paid by certain consortiums such as Virtuoso and Ensemble that does not mean they are the best agents. The luxury lines know who the best are however Forbes which I read has noted the top ones as well. You have to do your own research or talk with others on another social media but as TravelCat mentioned not allowed on CC. As noted, if you are not using a great agency you are leaving money on the table

  5. Thanks for posting this information. We haven't been in Frankfurt in a while (intentionally - really difficult airport to navigate). I believe that the last time we were there the lounge was under construction. Good to know that their lounge is so good.

Unless the TS is going to Singapore, it is doubtful that Regent will do Singapore Airlines (unless things have changed). It seems that the airline that Regent uses for Asia is Cathay Pacific (which we are flying next month). IMO, their lounge in Kong Kong is one of the best in the world.

Sometimes it is hard to tell which airline you can use for a deviation since Regent's contracts are based on routes as well as specific flights and the airline itself. Their contracts also specify how many seats can be booked per fight which is why sometimes Regent will tell you that a flight is full when in fact the fight has seats - just not "contracted" seats. For this reason, I always recommend deviating as close to the 270 day mark as possible.

For our November cruise (which can be deviated/booked on February 15th), we already booked our own First Class air from Miami but have to wait for the outward fight. Also consider what time of the year your flights are. We are returning from Miami on Thanksgiving weekend so it behooves us to book ASAP.

Anyway, MalbecWine, I also wanted to tell you what a great "name" you have. Anything wine related sounds good to me:halo:

We have friends in Mendoza Argentina and love the Malbec wine. Really not expensive there or in the US. I can’t drink white wine as it gives me a headache.

  6. Well I had real butter dish tonight and we could share the butter. Yes in specialities but had fake butter Pats the other night.

Lifting slowly starting tomorrow. The crew are tired from cleaning the bar top and chairs. I just want the damn bathroom doors closed.

Well if you close off the bathroom doors, what are people supposed to do? I think we are all potty trained. Maybe instead of fashion police we should have hygiene police.

  7. Thanks for sharing TC interesting statistics but it appears that things are improving at least on the luxury lines.

Ellbon, sorry you did not enjoy your Crystal cruise and apparently you have complaints about Regent and you praise Azamara where they nickel and dime you. May I suggest you charter a yacht.

  8. I am mostly a reader/lurker on CC and became a recent member. I will step up on this. A sixteen month old child does not belong on a adult oriented cruise. I have had my children and would never think about disrupting the ambience of any luxury cruise line with a child through no fault of their own having tantrums and crying fits. Think about it.
