I cant tell if Carnival really doesn’t know their passengers or if they’re trying to appeal to a different type of passenger. Poke and oysters with mignonette from the cruise line that once had meatloaf and fried chicken on their dining room menu. It doesn’t compute.
The items sound interesting though and I ever found myself on a Carnival ship with these offerings, I’d give them all a try.
The alchemy bar cater to the more upscale clientele. Everyone else usually order from the other bars, pubs, and breweries. So it's only right to have food that would cater to that market. It's not for me though...
With that said I do like red frog rum pub food (from the few ships that serve food at red frog.)

I don't have pics handy - but our room 7386 had new USB ports between the beds, and a set on the vanity (in addition to 2 regular outlets and a EURO outlet). We were the first in the room after its update, and were pleasantly surprised. The only "downside" was that I kept finding miscellaneous screws everywhere....
Thanks for the reply

You looking great! Great cruise... I always wanted to try the Sunshine!
-
Great review... That's the one thing I dislike about Carnivals older ships is they still do the muster stations outside. Its seems like I always get stuck outside. I like being on the newer Carnival ships where the muster stations are 100% inside.

Anyone know the CD for Dec 2nd on Magic? Was hoping it was Malcolm Burns but he is set till November.
Unfortunately the cruise director for that date is To be Announced.
-
Also, can someone post pics or video of the new renovated rooms on the Triumph. Do the rooms have usb ports? Did they change the decor? I'm interested in seeing the few updates they have done.
-
Well I hope everyone enjoy their upcoming cruises on the Triumph. It's not unreasonable to be concerned about current construction that's going on the ship. Hopefully it doesnt have a huge impact on your cruise. Try not to allow this one thing to ruin your experience or ruin your ability to have a great time. Carnival definitely needs to be upfront to their customers. However, remember customer service reps (this goes for almost every huge corporation) are the last to know anything. It is surprising that they have started construction this early. I will be sailing on this ship once they change it to the Sunrise next December.

Me personally I've purchased Sheridan, rum chatta, jack Daniel's, Bacardi and a few I cant remember. I dont really drink much unless I'm on Vacation. So I barely ever touch any of the alcohol we bring back. We sometimes give them away as a "souvenir". Also the ship will beat the price of vendors in port along as you take a picture as proof.

You can sell the pure white henny for a profit... People go crazy for it in the states.

The Breeze is a better ship overall however the Sunshine is no slouch... Plus the sunshine is going to better ports. The serenity area on the Sunshine is the best of any Carnival ship. The biggest issue many people have with the Sunshine is that it feels crowded. Carnival did an extensive update to the sunshine and they packed alot of restaurants, bars, and other bells and whistles in the ship.
If we are solely selecting based on ships then I'd say the breeze. But I would personally select the Sunshine. The Sunshine is a great ship, more days and better ports.

The specialty options are reduced in price to compensate the fact that you are not eating in the main dinning room. Yes I would rather the price stayed the same but $38 for a 5 course meal is very reasonable.

I was on the Magic in July and the internet was horrible. I had the premium plan since I still had work I needed to complete for my Grad classes. They ended up refunding my credit card once I talked to guest services. They know the internet is terrible and they will refund your money and allow you to keep the service.
-
Well im on a mission to eat so, whatever it is its going in my belly.
Do you know how much the food is in the steakhouse?
The steak house is $38 per person. That comes with a 5 course meal with unlimited appetizers.
The Italian resturant (Cucina del Capitano) is $15 per person for a 5 course meal.
Fyi make sure your ship have these options. The older ships will not have as many restaurants as the newer ships.

wish it was included
It isnt included but the food is really cheap. Everything is a little over $3. I liked the grouper fingers and wings. I didn't like the counch friters and the west indi roti. I didn't try the shrimp but someone I knew said it was good.

You can get eggs from the omelette station. I prefer breakfast at the main dining room than the buffet. The food is so much better and its cooked to order. Also they have fillet mignon on sea day brunch... dont miss that.
The only time we will eat at the buffet is if we have an early port time and need to get a little bite to eat and we dont have time to sit at the mdr.

Do all R 18+ comedy shows use the F word every 10 seconds? The cruise we were on, both comedians used dropped the F bomb constantly. I don't mind it occasionally, even though I don't care for that word, but I think you can be funny without using the F word 3 or 4 times a minute.
Go to the PG shows if you are sensitive about comedians using curse words.

Great review.

The upgrade fairy has been a little stingy lately... More like an upgrade troll.

Carnival is currently finalizing their cruises for the rest of 2020. I'm assuming that they may have had to make some adjustments to some of their currently scheduled 2020 cruises to make it work.
-
Carnival was only willing to honor our booking prices and deposits if we continued with the TA, otherwise we would have to wipe everything from the system and pay the higher price for the ship we originally turned down because of said higher price
I feel for you.. Look at the bright side... The Breeze is a much better and newer ship than the Conquest. The Breeze is typically a more expensive ship than the Conquest. So the fact that they are transfering your cheaper fare to the breeze may be a blessing in disguise. Everything will end up working out, maybe even for the better.

You can sign up when you get on board. I normally eat then afterwards sign the kid up. Usually it doesnt open up on embarkation day because they will be busy signing people up. I do remember the camp worker telling me that I could drop them off for the late night (night owl) if I wanted but there was a fee. They were open most of the 2nd day.
-
Thats weird that they only had fish on one night. They had salmon every night when I was on the Magic 2 months ago. And they had other fish other nights. This was in the mdr.
You are right about the cakes. Carnival Magic has the best cakes I've ever tasted on any cruise line. Carnival cakes used to be bland.
The smoke is really bad in the Casino and I talked to people who had hot rooms also. None of the people in my group of 22 had issues with AC.
-
I'm thinking about booking a premier cruise. I called the casino line and the guy said that ONLY I am allowed the Drinks On Us while in the casino.
My friend who is traveling with me has only cruised on Carnival one time.
Can someone confirm that she will not get the DOU card?
Also, since I'm platinum, I do NOT want to get in the Premier line, correct?
Thanks !
You should get free drinks plus one guest should get free drinks. Atleast thats how it is on my premier cruise in December.

Pig and anchor is only open on embarkation day and the two sea days for a couple hours. I dont think you have much to worry about.
There shouldn't be alot of noise in this area and there will not be any obstructed views. I'm not sure if you will get any bbq or smoker smell.
Any Updates On Which Ships Have New Cakes on Lido
in Carnival Cruise Lines

I've only heard people talk about it from the Magic, Vista and Horizon. Ive talked to someone who's on the Breeze and they said they didn't have the new cakes. But that was on embarkation day. I'm not sure if they served them afterwards.
