  1. I always posted numerous times on the roll call as well. The reminder delivered to the cabin was just an extra if they wanted it. I alway printed axtras and shared with people we met on board, sometimes on the shuttle to the ship from the hotel!
  2. No breach of privacy because they gave their cabin # knowing that was the reason they were giving it. Nothing misleading about that. That list wasn't used for anything else.
  3. When I organized them, my family and I would deliver reminders to the cabins of those who committed to coming and gave their cabin #. I would ask the coordinator on the ship to deliver the ones to the Haven. It was a great way for us to learn the way around the ship very quickly. But we always had a great turn out because people had a reminder of place and time in their hand!
  4. I'm on the Joy in September. No one wants to do a M&G. In all fairness, it's a 9 night cruise and we have one "sea day" (really a river day) near the end of the cruise. I know the day after we embark, we don't port in Boston until 1, so that morning would be doable but no one's interested. We've always had a good time at them. We've had the captain show up a number of times, and they offered bridge tours to those who attended! Then he had refreshments on the bridge for us and posed with us for pics.
  5. Good to know! I'll be on the Joy in September. It's very port intensive so I don't know how often I will get to the OL.
  6. I'm gonna need someone to smuggle some out for me! On my very first cruise (on X), they had this little tea cart. In the mornings, it had amazing pastries and I always got an almost croissant! In the afternoons, they had cookies. I could walk by the cookies all day long, but I'm like a moth to the flame when it comes to an almost croissant (or a piece of a kringle!).
  7. Has anyone seen the goat cheese stuffed portobello mushroom lately? I remember having it in one of the smaller MDRs a few years ago on embarkation day. It was delish! My son is a huge fan of the mussels in LeBistro, but he won't be with us on this cruise. We've done 17 with him, this will be a first without him (he's finishing his last year of college).
  8. There are lots of different tartares these days - lots of vegetarian options - but I tend to stick to the seafood and beef ones!
  9. I am a huge fan of tuna tartare, so that tuna stack looks awesome. I've never had lobster thermador - it's intriguing. But since we will spend a week in Maine after our cruise, that may be where I try that dish. I'm pretty picky on cheesecake and while I'm sure that was tasty, I don't think I can eat something that's supposed to be cheesecake-esk but has more of a pudding or custard texture. Heck, I won't even eat it at the Cheesecake Factory because they serve it too warm. Cheesecake should be very cold (I prefer mine just short of frozen) and very firm. And if it isn't baked, it isn't cheesecake.
  10. It's also friends &/or relatives of officers. We boarded once with a lady who was friends with the ship's dr. It was her first cruise.
  11. I did it in the oven and it was amaze-balls! So juicy it was ridiculous! I won't hesitate to do it again. 1.5 hours to cook a 14# turkey.
  12. How did you think I knew about the VIP thing? And the % is well over half, but not all. And it won't be on this upcoming cruise either. All my peeps have moved on.
  13. I'll let hubby know. He's the turkey fan in our house, though the spatchcocked one I cooked last Christmas was the best I've ever had.
  14. We were on the list more than half of our NCL sailings. Never have sailed in a suite. We even had lunch in Cagney's with the GM (HD at the time). We already had access to it for lunch, but he had great stories and some extra special dishes came with it, too.
  15. The buffet is great for a quick lunch, which is what I use the pretzel rolls and deli meats for. Though the crepes in the evening at the buffet are good if you did find a dessert that sounded good wherever you ate dinner.
  16. My husband loves French onion soup so he's always up for that. I also love the escargot in LeBistro. I hope you can remember where you had the octopus - I've never had that! Creme brulee is one of my favorites - except for the time they put pineapple in it! That texture was all kinds of wrong, though I don't mind the raspberry one. Chocolate creme brulee is not often found but delicious when you do find it. But one important item that I'm hoping to find is the pretzel rolls in the buffet? I don't care if they're the little round ones or the long ones. I will use either for sandwiches with the deli meats and cheeses at lunch and be perfectly happy. Sometimes the simple things are awesome, too!
  17. I'm a bit a of a foodie. Cruises are a time for me to order old faves and try new dishes!. I know food is something that has been impacted by the cust cutting. I haven't been on NCL in a few years (5) so I'd love to hear your favorites to see if any of my old ones are still around - and if they're still good!
  18. True, but the waiting area is nicer there and has drinks and snacks. So it's a little different.
  19. Weeeelllll, not 100% accurate. There are VIPs that are sometimes on that list but not in a suite and they do get that perk. That's a very few and far between exception but it is there - and true.
