  1. We are much younger (late 20s) than many cruisers and just don't find the idea of meet ups appealing. These ships are huge with thousands of people, we can figure we can meet random people anywhere and don't need an event set up to do so. Also looking at pics of the meet ups it seems to be mostly older folks, no one around our age.

  2. So I’m considering buying one of the cheers packages just so we can get speciality coffee shakes and smoothies. We are not big drinkers.

All passengers 21+ in the cabin must purchase Cheers if you want it, you cannot buy it just for one person and share.

  3. RFID is short range. The cruise lines won't be tracking you. In Canada we have RFID chips in our credit cards. You have to be very very close (like 1") before the chip can be read. It is exactly the same as swiping a card, you are just tapping instead of swiping.

Not all RFID is short range, it is commonly used on toll roads here in the U.S.

  4. Perhaps not valid to you, but valid to me. Lanyards are removable and are worn by choice. Wristbands are not removable.
The type of wristbands people are referring to like the Disney Magic Bands are adjustable and removable. I highly doubt a cruise line would use non removable wristbands like those used for music festivals.
  5. Wristbands would look really nice in those elegant night photos [emoji849]
Not really a valid point, you don't see people wearing their lanyards in elegant photos. People need to look past the wristbands and see that RFID could be put in so many things that could help us moving away from swiping cards.
  6. They definitely will move away from swiping cards to some sort of RFID system whether it is wristbands, pendants or just a card with RFID. It will take years to retrofit all the ships to handle the new technology.

  7. People need to stop saying that cruise lines underpay their employees. Most of the employees on the ship come from countries where the cost of living and pay is far lower than the US and Europe. We cannot compare their wages to ours in the U.S or Europe., the "small" amount people perceive them making can be way more than they can make in their home country. A $1 tip on a drink or a few bucks for room service worth way more to them than a similar tip would be on land in the states.

  8. My guess is that they mean it's included on the ship (it exists). Food and drinks are definitely pay as you go.

The way it is presented on the Carnival site is misleading. For the cost seciton they use "✔ Included" to signify places that are free like Guys Burger and Blue Iguana. They use " $ Additional" to represent pay to eat places like the Steakhouse or Seafood Shack. Definitely, something carnival should be more clear about on the site.

  9. I board on Thursday and my recent email says NO beverages to be brought on board.

    • Guests are not allowed to bring bottled beverages, i.e., water, sodas and other non-alcoholic drinks on board. Please review our beverage policy located in our FAQs at help.carnival.com.

No bottled beverages, cans and cartons are fine. Sure they aren't going to remind people that they can bring cans and cartons since those are drinks they aren't buying from Carnival.
