  1. Hi Will.when are you going on your trip? Marella are pretty slow at putting the excursions online, We are away first week in June and nothing online regarding booking excursions, restaurants, spa treatments as yet.🤷🏻‍♂️
  2. I have never seen anything regarding ordering off the MDR menu at extra cost🤔 They do have a couple of always available options. ( I think it’s chicken or fish) Steak is available in the Italian restaurant on one of the rotated menus.
  3. Decisions,Decisions,Decisions,Love it.😂😂 On both of our upcoming trips they are asking for the balance exactly twelve weeks before departure. Hoping it works for you.😉
  4. Hi MIB. It might be an idea to put the date and cruise details of the one that you are looking at on here, then some kind people that have booked it already might tell you when they get their balance reminder. Good luck, keep well.😉
  5. The last time we were there (With a different cruise company) at the port gates there was a couple of independent minibuses doing round trips to the bus station at the gate to the town, they were charging €2 each way.
  6. Hi Lindylou. formal night attire has always been a can of worms on Marella, This pretty much covers it as it stands. Marella Cruises usually has one night per 7-day cruise that is designated as a ‘Dress to Impress’ night. It’s where guests are encouraged to get dressed up in more formal clothing if they wish, although guests can just turn up in the regular Smart dress code if they prefer. A lot of guests still enjoy the feeling of putting on their most glamorous suits and cocktail dresses for a night, but there are also many who don’t want to have to pack their best formal clothing, or just prefer the more relaxed feel of a smart-casual outfit. Marella caters for both with the Dress to Impress night, since you’re welcome to choose either. And if you don’t want to feel like you’re underdressed, you can head to any of the other restaurants on the ship – the Dress to Impress night is typically limited to the main restaurant only. If you google “ Marella dress code” it will explain marella’s interpretation. Have a great cruise.😉
  7. Thank you. You will never know how much that has cheered me up.😉👍🏻
  8. Had a look on the deck plans and the cabin we have booked is showing a square shower which means a glass door can be fitted easily. When looking at YouTube videos the shower curtains were usually on the quarter round trays so I am quite hopeful. Shower curtains just seem to want to fight with me.😳
  9. Hi Sam. I am sure you will have a great time, the itinerary’s are usually quite good and the food and drinks onboard are more than acceptable. Fellow passengers are mainly friendly and the staff are the aces in marellas pack.😉
  10. We are always talking about giving other lines a try but not got around to it apart from last Xmas/ new year and that wasn’t all that good to be honest. I think with us it’s stick with what you know.🤔 A trip on Discovery in June and Xmas/new year on Explorer booked so far.🙂
  11. Thanks for pointing that out.🤦🏻 Same question but deck seven.🫣
  12. Hi Paul. The only thing that has stopped us trying P&O or Ambassador is they mostly sail from the UK so if you were doing a Mediterranean trip you would need two sea days before you get to the sunshine and of course the same to get back home so that’s over half a week at sea and for a one week holiday that wouldn’t be practical. With Marella fly cruise you can be in your cabin in little over half a day when going to the Med.
  13. Our trip disembarked At Southampton as it was the starting point for the” Around Britain” itinerary. We flew from Birmingham so had to get a coach from Southampton back to Brum. The passenger demographic was fifties plus I would say, ( lots of working age people can’t do the longer trips due to allowed holiday days) Certainly no rowdiness in our experience. We think that they are value for money. Lots of sea days which are for us very relaxing, Go for it.😉
  14. We did that trip 2019 on Explorer and really enjoyed it, three carribean islands then on to Cape Verde for two days, lots of sea days and then onto zebrugge and Southampton. Ironically our cabin was on deck 9 opposite the kids club, not a peep.😂
  15. Thank you for the prompt answer.😉👍🏻 Was your trip before or after the last refurbishment? (I think that was a couple of years ago)
  16. I have put this question on this thread to save opening another one regarding Discovery so here goes. We are on Discovery during June this year, could anyone tell me if deck nine balcony cabin bathrooms have a glass door or is it the dreaded shower curtain.?
  17. We were on the spirit of adventure over the Xmas / new year period which was a Canaries itinerary and inside the ship the temperature was always pleasant. We felt no need to put on jumpers etc. Tee shirts during the day and short sleeved shirts during the evening.
  18. In the suite’s only on the other ships.
  19. You have to be out of your cabin at 08:00 regardless. In our experience we have always had time for breakfast and then a leisurely coffee or two, as Jim says it’s usually between 11:00 and midday.👍🏻
  20. Looks like it’s done an about turn.
  21. Hi Paul. l would never call anyone who smokes pathetic, it’s just a crazy thing how it gets a hold on us, Vapes are allegedly better for you than cigarettes so well done to you.👏🏻 Keep well mate.😉
  22. Hi Jim. As you say other people smoking doesn’t bother me at all, each to their own. And you are most probably right about my surgery trumping my smoking.😂 What I am saying as a non smoker is I now see how it affects decisions that people make. We had a trip recently and shared a car to the docks with another couple, the gent was a smoker and after an hour and half into the journey he was getting proper edgy, When we stopped at the services he had a cigarette in his mouth before the car door was open.😄 I was probably that man ten years ago.🤷🏻‍♂️ Anyway alls well here and hoping you and yours are all in good health.👍🏻 Belated Happy new year to you all.
