  1. Ooh, I hope you are not too disappointed with Brodies, it was horrible in July on Britannia. Well, it was not the venue, but the clientele and what they were able to get away with. We only popped in a couple of times, didn't stay long... Andy
  2. 'Hunt the cocktail' is a game you have to play on Britannia unfortunately... There is an OK selection on board, but different ones are offered in different bars. If feasible, the bar staff will make you what you want, for example, we were having mojitos, mai tai etc all over the ship even though they were not on the menu, but couldn't track down the ever elusive 'raspberry creme brulee'... Overall, not a great selection, but better than we first thought. Let's hope in the refurb, they introduce an 'Andersons'... Wishful thinking. Andy
  3. You are not the first to say how run down Britannia is and I appreciate you can only speak as you find. However, we were on her in July and commented how good condition we found her to be in. We didn't look too close, but our cabin was spotless and the public areas seemed good to us. Not everything was perfect, but we thought the ship was in good nick. Please don't take this as a criticism of your post, we would have also been unhappy with stained carpets, bland food etc. Sorry you didn't enjoy Britannia as much as we did. Andy
  4. You obviously don't know me... There won't be any sacrifices, thank you... 😂
  5. It's funny how a lot of our tastes and expectations are changing. We have always felt P&O was a good fit for us and it still do to an extent, we have 2 more cruises booked on Britannia. On your recommendation Selborne, we have also booked our first Cunard cruise on QM2 as we crave the slightly more formal atmosphere that Dermotsgirl is trying to get away from. We don't mind paying a bit more for a bit of a better experience. It might be too posh for us, but we won't know until we try... Andy
  6. Firstly... You know the rules Josy, no pics, it didn't happen😂 Secondly, how selfish of the passenger booking multiple venues, but I thought the app didn't allow that? I thought if you tried to book a second venue, it automatically cancelled your original booking? Andy
  7. I read elsewhere that they were reverting back to the old system of seats being allocated at time of booking? Let's hope it's in the pipeline... Enjoy the rest of your cruise. Andy
  8. He was Carl King in Emmerdale... Can't remember who killed him, Chas maybe? Apparently big in musical theatre.
  9. Fake news... There is no food or drink in the picture, Grahams account must have been hacked!!! 😂 Andy
  10. Thank you for reporting in, many of us find these reports very useful. Let's hope the work stops and you can get some sleep. When you say the ship is tatty, are you just referring to the recent damage or in general? We were on her in July and thought she was in great condition. We also found some of the crew (not all) to be quite grumpy. We put it down to how hard they are being pushed for 'efficiency', especially the waiters. Let's hope things improve and you can have a great cruise. Andy
  11. Please correct me if I have got this wrong, but if the ship was in port overnight and the weather was going to be bad the next day, what sense would it have made to be floating around at sea in a bad storm? Surely being (safely😂) secured in port would be preferable? Andy
  12. I'm sure it is very practical, but still ugly... Marble can look great, but not in such a great expanse. Andy
  13. Thank you Selbourne, you really do make us feel like we are there. What we have learned from your reports is that it's very much horses for courses. Our youngest daughter and her partner want to cruise with us and, although I wouldn't say they are fussy eaters, I think they wouldn't get too excited with the 'traditional' P&o food and formality, so Iona sounds ideal. We have already booked Britannia again with Michelles Dad, Brother, Niece and their partners who prefer more traditional cruising, but not quite as dated as the really old ships. For me, I couldn't cope with all that disgusting white marble flooring on Iona, or bad tellies on Aurora etc, so Britannia fits for me😂 Andy
  14. Oh I love it... If we feel its intrusive or inappropriate, we just lie... 🤥 We particularly like the 'so, how did you 2 meet' question... There are loads of P&O passengers around who think I was a knife thrower in a circus and Michelle was my glamorous assistant😂🎪🔪🗡️ Andy
  15. Perhaps they can relocate some but not all? Moley also stated the capacity of the lifeboats and inflatables is larger. Just passing on what is reported supposedly from passengers onboard. Andy
  16. Seems 100 passengers and crew from deck 8, which is where the lifeboats live, are being flown home, doesn't seem like they had a choice. Andy
  17. It can't be as cut and dried as that. We cruise because Michelle can't fly, she is having panic attacks here in case it ever happened to us and we are sitting at home😂 Andy
  18. Buffets open😊 I'm sure lots of safety checks etc will be going on, hopefully with a view to sailing to Gibraltar, hence why not letting you off. Andy
  19. The local paper here, the Daily Echo is reporting that you are already heading back to Southampton... You couldn't make it up... But they seem to😂 Andy
  20. Yes, particularly like the headline 'CRUISE SHIP CRASHES, BRITISH PASSENGERS IN TEARS AS THEY FEAR FOR THEIR LIVES'... I'm sure it must have been worrying, but this seems a bit over the top... Andy
  21. Will answer anyway as might be of interest to someone. Absolutely no smell from the smoking area below and we are non smokers who are quite sensitive to the smell. Quite amazing really, but true. We have booked same cabin again for 2 more cruises. Andy
