We have an Canada/NE itinerary for Oct 2023 onboard Liberty so am I to assume that Bar Harbor will be a no and when will RCI notify us about this change?
Good question - I would hope you would hear something within a couple months or so. It will take a while to work out alternate ports.

There is something though that could stymie the will of the local Bar Harbor community. The state of Maine would have an interest in the matter and may have a say.
That's what happened in Florida - the governor claimed a 'state interest' (but never defined it) and changed the rules about port authority to take away Key West's home rule. Miami, Tampa and Canaveral objected because it might have affected them, but when it was rewritten to be specific to one port that defied him, the other ports looked the other way. A fine example of democracy in action......

I am not saying anyone has a right to their homes, just public areas. Public areas are not their home. I have lived through many special events that create traffic gridlock. Although it is a pretty good inconvenience, as an American I have to defend other Americans right of free travel.
So you're going to go to Bar Harbor and force them to change their votes? I'm curious as to how you plan to accomplish this.

They didn't seem to have any tourism infrastructure, but they did have at least 3 grocery stores. 😄
We had a great time walking around, but the few restaurants they had were full of ship's tasting tours for the first 3 hours. We got snacks and tea/coffee from the high school kids who set up a booth. Who doesn't want to support a bunch of industrious kids who got to skip school to practice their English on us? But the grocery stores were great, and I wish I had known we could have taken our passports to the Post Office to get stamped from Greenland!

Had a tender stop at Qaqortoq, Greenland.
Town population = ~3000
Voyager of the Seas population = ~3000 (passengers and crew for the sailing)
And they have a dozen or so cruise ships a year? Not one almost every day, sometimes 2, for months.

Legal challenges will be filed by the cruise lines.
Why?

I understand how they feel. The citizens of Key West had a similar vote.
Remember that the government of Florida overrode their local vote. 😞 Hopefully Maine will not do the same.

Bar Harbor residents voted Tuesday to place tighter regulations on the cruise ship industry after years of complaints about overcrowding in the tourist mecca.
Voters passed a petition restricting the number of cruise ship passengers who can come ashore on any given day. The town will now allow no more than 1,000 people per day to disembark from cruise ships, though questions remain about enforcement.

But would you want your overall price raised because of people who want to post on social media they ate 20 lobsters?
Has this happened? Wow.

I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I can’t say enough good things about the staff at the R Bar. Just amazing camaraderie and excellent service. They were A.J., Romulo, Bradley and Manan. I believe Manan was a manager as he wore the black shirt & black pants while the others wore white shirts & gold vests, but he was in there working and joking around with them & the patrons every night.
AJ was a hoot - he joined the ship during our cruise and was so happy to be there! The whole team meshed well, and worked around each other in the small space behind the bar. We never tired of watching them work - helping each other, dancing around each other to get to something on the other side. We left a great review and left a very nice tip.
I'm glad you had a good cruise.

But really, these people that try to set the record for how many lobsters they can eat are ridiculous. DO you really need more than 2 plus the appetizers, sides and dessert? Especially on the heals of cancellation of Alaskan crab season due to overfishing. If you can find them it will be expensive.
Our waiter always offers us more lobster, and when one person says yes, he brings a plate with three or four in case he can talk anyone else into taking one.

The Crown Lounge is a favorite - usually empty, great internet if you're getting if from the local area. 🙂 It's also great for people watching on the decks below.

Also in a JS. Our "cooler" is located next to the slider in the bottom cabinet. As a newer cruiser, i did expect something different from our first JS. I don't actually mind the "closed in" balcony. I actually like not having another cabin be able to look around the corner. The room is IMO lacking in quality. I will stipulate our other two cruises were on Odyssey and Symphony so this is a big age difference. We chose this b2b to island hop from a home port. All else aside IMO this is the seemingly happiest crew we have had of our ship trips this year.
The crew is awesome, and part of that is the captain. If you go to the Top Tier event, they bring out regular crew to recognize for years of service. Nice touch.

Sorry for the lack of posts. As stated, internet is HORRIBLE. This is the first time I’ve even been able to get the CC board to load, I was starting to think it was blocked. I’ve been taking lots of pictures, will post them when I can. There seems IMO to be a lack of entertainment so far on the ship. Sleepy piano music in Schooner Bar and piped in elevator music on the pool deck.
I am so sorry to hear that - but by 'sleepy piano music' you're not talking about the woman playing classical music, I hope. We really enjoyed listening to her.

I found a new drink in the Schooner Bar and R Bar, a 'nuts and berries'. One shot each Bailey's (cocoa nut), Frangelico (hazelnut) and Chambord (raspberry).
If you run across Lina in the Schooner Bar, tell her the flamingo lady remembers her. ❤️

Deb, I follow one of the pro figure skaters, Jordan Bauth, on you tube. She's on Voyager now, very talented. I hope you get to see the ice show. It always amazes us how they skate on a moving ship.
Continued wishes for you to have smooth sails and happy memories.
They had a very good ice skating team. The 'extra' C&A activity for us was to come to the theater and meet some of the entertainment team. We had the stage manager from the production show, the dance captain, and the ice team captain. It was quite informative.

Obviously you do.
"large" For this person, a 'large' lounge isn't necessary.

Voyager is much the same - it's the cigar lounge outside the Star Lounge.
As long as they have free coffee in the morning, I'm happy.

The CREW gets some stuff - we saw a guy on Voyager that had a 'Wonder of the Seas Inaugural Crew' hoodie. 🙂
From the Wonder's cruise, it did look like there was a decent amount of swag, and definitely better food in Windjammer.

Thanks! I have wondered if such a service existed.

My TA points out that they have not said that the January 27 sailing will indeed be the 'maiden voyage'.

Enjoy! We were on Voyager for the Crossing and the two weeks before it. We met some awesome crew members.

Bar Harbor voters back tougher restrictions on cruise ships

So if you want to fly to Bar Harbor, can you force airlines or bus companies or trains to take you there, if they don't service that city? I'm confused as to what you think is unlawful about this.
