Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. For my several Celebrity sails experience (and all my other sails experience included), I have only attended one Mass on-board. It was not Christmas nor Easter, it was just a regular Sunday Mass, which happened we had a priest on-board. So, no guarantee. If Sunday is a port day, you can try local parish. Do you research behand.
  2. Gone there on 3 different ships. I think 4 different animations/menus. Very entertaining. Food was good. I paid for the entertainment, so not set a very high expectation for fantastic food. I don't want to compare it with Blue or something. They are different experiences. I think it's worth if you have never tried. 4 times already. Will not repeat unless I find new animations and menus.
  3. Because of some computer glitches (they claimed), the Celebrity Millennium are oversold substantially for most Japanese sails between Sept 2023 to April 2024. For those who are 'selected' to be cancelled, they got 2 options: 1. geta a full refund + $500 FCC (expired in a year), 2. move to a future similar sail in 2024 or 2025 with the same price tag For those who have been cancelled, they should have been notified by now. That what I heard from someone working in a cruise agency.
  4. I was in Millenium 2 weeks ago and was told ~1400 guests. Crew said max at ~2400. But we felt quite obvious that the ship was not full. Theatre was only half full. MDR was half full as well. Gym was pretty much empty. I could use hot tub and swimming pool without many people around.

    Seapass

In Millenium 2 weeks ago, I dropped my stuff in the cabin first, retrieve our seapasses before going to the muster station. The staff there had a paper copy of name list to cross.
  6. The check-in counter can print your boarding pass. I did not have data on my phone in the pier. They printed out the boarding passes for us. For the luggage tags, I pretty sure they could do it as well. So, your passport would be what you need at the pier.
  7. If you are talking about the declaration form, you still need to do it on top of the ArriveCAN. 😉
  8. I tried to add a post-cruise extension after the air ticketed. They required me to pay $350 pp to change the tickets. So, I chose not to add the extension.
  9. In the casino, you can use your sea pass to withdraw money to play, if you win, they pay you back as cash in the cashier. For the slot machine, you can just tab your sea pass to play. It will ask you how much to withdraw. I do not see any surcharge in my account. However, if you use your sea pass in the table, they will charge you 5% surcharge. One of the tricks I get is that you can use the sea pass in the slot machine to withdraw money first. After playing, or even not playing, cash out from the slot machine. It will print you a ticket. You can then use this ticket to exchange cash from the cashier or chips in the table. No surcharge. This is my experience in the ship I got off last week. Not sure if it applies to all ships. Or Celebrity would change the policy eventually. But if you want to use your sea pass to play and want to avoid surcharge, try the above trick. There is also an ATM machine there. Never use it. Not sure about the surcharge on this.
  10. Just off Millenium last week. I used the new Celebrity app to do the check-in beforehand. You basically enter all those information that they would ask when you were standing in the check-in counter in the past. You can even take the photo through the app. You will need to book an embarking time slot. The app will have the digital boarding pass ready for you as well. If you do all those through the app, when you arrive at the terminal at the booked time slot, they would find and verify all the necessary information, and without much delay, direct you to embark with your boarding pass in your app. The process is very fast now if you do the check-in beforehand. Depending on the time you embark, your room may or may not be available. They will let you know. If room is not available, people would usually go to the ocean view cafe to eat something while waiting. You will find your sea pass in the mail slot of your room now, instead of giving to you at the check-in. Your checked-in luggage should arrive outside your room by the sailing time.
  11. Just came off from Millenium, those Japanese beers seem only availabe in So5. I did not see them generally available in other places. Maybe some sommeliers of the main restaurant would be able to get it for you?
  12. I have a cruise with Viking in coming November and I got my air ticketed late August. I looked at it and the flights looked reasonable, one stopover in both outbound and inbound. Last week, I got an email from Viking telling my flights had changed. I looked at the new itinerary, my outbound route now had one more stopover and 7+ hours were added to the total travelling time. I waited long time to get in touch with Viking Air representative, he told me I needed to pay $350 to modify the flight, and there was no guarantee the flights would not change again. If you needed to change again, I need to pay another $350. So, technically he meant they could change the flights whatever whenever they wanted, but if I want to change it, I need pay $350 every time. Also, I was looking to add a post-cruise extension tour. He told me I could add the tour but I also need to pay $350 to modify the return flight to accommodate the post-cruise tour. I got a feeling that the one-stopover better itinerary I was assigned original might have been selected by someone who willing to pay extra, and I got pushed over to worse itinerary. Just my guessing, but I couldn't stop to think like that. Also, requiring fee to change the flight when a guest want to add a post-cruise tour is also quite ridiculous. They just discouraging people and not willing to earn extra business. Anyway, this will be my first Viking experience, but it seems it is not off for a good start.
