  1. For a ship so large and with a lot of people, the venues for certain events is perplexing. On our May cruise we found two to be especially disappointing. One is the above -- Spotlight Karaoke (previously OnAir) is woefully small for the very popular events they have there. RCL must know how popular these events are -- but puts them in a cozy, small venue?? The other was the Music Hall (previously Dazzles). Maybe it depends on the sailing and the bands but when we tried to see Phoenix there in May it was a real struggle. Very very few seats have a good sightline to the stage, in fact most of the deck 8 seats are facing perpendicular to the stage. What ? And lots of poles in the way. The deck nine seats are almost all "audio-only", unless you get Benny's seat by the rail. The one time they tried to have Phoenix in the Aquatheare ( a good choice of venue), they couldn't get the sound to work. Probably a logistical challenge but they need to utilize the theatre and Aquatheater more for these high-attendance events. mac_tlc
  2. It goes back a little farther in history than those : The first recorded use of a parabolic ship’s bow was by Christopher Columbus on his first voyage across the Atlantic Ocean in 1492. In the 16th century, Portuguese, Spanish and Dutch mariners used the design to improve the stability of their vessels. It wasn’t until the mid-19th century that the parabolic ship’s bow started to be used extensively throughout the world for pleasure craft.
  3. My guess is the ship bottle is 1 liter. Total Wine's is 750 ml. Interesting price differences depending on where you are. I just checked the price in Orlando ($27.99) and in CT ($29.99) for the 750 ml bottle. Those would also be subject to sales tax. Always good to check prices!!! mac_tlc
  4. No 🔥🔥, just a different perspective. Of the approximately 165 hours I am on a cruise during a 7 day voyage, I figure I’m looking at the outside for maybe 2 of them. I am more interested in the inside. mac_tlc
  5. Pre Covid, we have sailed on Oasis ships with 6500 or so on them ….. pretty full. There are a few places where it is an “issue” —— windjammer at breakfast or any sea day, exit of shows, any Royal Promenade activity such as a sale or show, pool deck. We sailed Allure in August 2021 with about 1500, Oasis in May with about 2000. Tremendous —— and I understand that it is not financially sustainable for the cruise line. We are at a cruising point in our lives where that is not our preferred cruise —— we make an exception when our kids and grandkids are with us for our August annual family cruise. Any way you say it, 6500-7000 is a “boat-load” of people. mac_tlc
  6. Best Aqua show in the fleet (of the four we have seen). Haven’t been on Wonder and at current prices, it will be a lengthy wait. mac_tlc
  7. I am going to miss the reduced occupancy ! Seeing the crazy pictures of the Promenade, El Loco Fresh, Aqua80, etc. is distressing. Thankfully I am not on Oasis until mid-September. Harmony in August will be interesting. We have sailed O-class many times pre-pandemic with full ships, but as we get older, I would rather not.... Just not my definition of a relaxing vacation. I can just imagine the elevators.... mac_tlc
  8. Thanks for the video. You did a great job panning -- sometimes I almost get dizzy following some videos! Interested in the comparison to the Crown Loft. We have an OS on the Oasis in September for the first time. We actually changed from a CL to try an OS. mac_tlc
  9. This is why I wish Celebrity would put a ship in Port Canaveral. For now, we do the 210 miles from Orlando to PE. That last 40 miles --- yikes ---- mac_tlc
  10. Probably not. My thought was that if Costco can have cases and cases, and they have over 500 US stores, why can't Royal Caribbean group, with under 40 "locations" have any, or hardly any? I just don't think they are trying to get back to pre-pandemic levels when they sell a lot of beverage packages at full price with much less than a full liquor selection. mac_tlc
  11. We had Independence there with us in May -- I was concerned, but plenty of real estate for all, except maybe at the pool bar, but that was manageable. mac_tlc
  12. As much as I try, I can't get excited about a short 3 or 4 day cruise, too much work for too little return. On Allure, it will be difficult or impossible to see the shows in such a short time, which we enjoy. I wish they had Voyager doing the shorties and Allure doing longer ones. mac_tlc
  13. Grab that last shot of Makers at Lime and Coconut !!! I'm beginning to doubt the "supply chain" rationale. I can get Maker's and Bulleit by the case at my local Costco -- for $52.99 per 1.75L. mac_tlc
  14. We have had the 2-bdr ATS, CLS, GS, and soon an OS on Oasis class. My wife has mobility issues and can more easily do the stairs on a CLS a couple times a day vs that endless hallway to an ATS. We actually switched from a CLS to an OS for our September sailing, just to check it out and compare. OS was about $150 more, but we switched in conjunction with a price drop so it seemed like less 😆 mac_tlc
  15. Why not include some instructions instead of just complaining about it? As I used to tell folks I worked with (and my kids), don't bring me a problem without a proposed solution........ mac_tlc
  16. The bourbon/whiskey selections were poor. Never saw: Woodford Macallan Rarely saw: Makers Mark Bulleit Buffalo Trace Crown Royal Often saw: Jameson Jack Daniels Gentleman Jack Probably others that other folks know of, but that was my “hit list”. mac_tlc
  17. Following along! We didn’t pull the trigger on this cruise (obviously), too few cabins when we started looking seriously. We will be on Oasis on 9/18 in an OS. Interested if the liquor issues of the 5/1 sailing have improved. mac_tlc
  18. Although, that master shower on Oasis and Allure —— just sayin’ mac_tlc
  19. Following along! We will have eight on the Harmony n August. We have done the auto train a number of times —- found the food to be surprisingly good. mac_tlc
  20. Not at all. When it’s the wife and me that is what we do. Take the tram to the Lagoon stop, find two shady loungers close to bar, lagoon pool and snack shack . It is indeed a Perfect Day. mac_tlc
  21. Keep checking on the cabana prices. We got an Oasis Lagoon cabana for $399 during a Black Friday sale. It is for an August 2022 cruise. Now selling for $1100. We will be Star Class on Harmony (trying the 4-Bdr Villa Suite this time) and have done the Aquatheatre Suite on deck 8 on Oasis and on Allure. Unmatched balcony, great living area, unimpressive bathrooms. Long hallway, but with 8 people it is the best choice for us. You will have a wonderful time. mac_tlc
