Puffinator...we took the Hotwire bid and it was a three star. We also used a $20. coupon from Hotwire. Cannot remember the ammenities but they were the same as described in the 'better bidding' site. The key differentiator was the tennis nearby icon. IF we had bid Priceline, this would be a 3 1/2 star. We are now going to bid Priceline for a post cruise stay but we really wanted to be in the downtown area for precruise.
Thanks for the info. Hotwire is a bit pricey for our trip right now so I will just keep checking it.

Sheraton Old San Juan-Hotwire Bid
Dec. 10-Dec. 13
$109. plus taxes
Wanted this hotel so did not chance Priceline. May have paid too much, don't know but it seems good. Will try bidding our post cruise hotel on Priceline.
Thanks. Can you let me know star rating and what icons were showing or if it is still there? Need a room for March. Thanks.

Anyone have any thoughts as to which hotel this might be? Thanks.

And to think, I thought it was just another I found a camera thread and didn't even peek!
That is exactly what I thought. Figured it would not hurt to direct others there.

Thanks, Puffinater. I really appreciate it. I was called today by the Associated Press. Keep your eyes on the media in the coming days. I don't know where or when the story might be published, but I'll try to give everyone a head's up. :)
Do you think I should ask the mods to re-name my thread to something more likely to be opened?
I hope the AP picks it up.
As for renaming the thread might be worth a shot.

Aquahound hope you don't mind.
I have been skipping over this thread and boy was it a mistake. This by far the best thread I have ever read on these boards. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Amazing, I had not read this thread until just now. It looks like I have a ton of reading to catch up on. Great job. Off to page two to continue.

I wonder what the color of the neck scarf signifies? Enquiring minds want to know!:p
Just found this thread.
On RCI they signify levels of experience. I am having a brain fart and can't recall which is which ... one signifies less than a year on ship one is a supervisor and the third well I just plain forget.
Great thread.

12/25/10 Crowne Plaza LA Harbor won for $65 plus tax.
Good to see the $65 making a comeback.

I hope it is good we are on deck 10 for 2 weeks in October.

Another great live report. Thanks for taking the time to post this.

4* this was with bonus cash from priceline
Well that makes a whole lot more sense now.

As for the walk that is all a matter of perspective. We have stayed in an aft deck 10 and while some consider it a long walk we do not. If someone has physical limitations then booking something more forward may be more benificial.

A coworker just got the Crowne Plaza San Pedro $65 plus fees, May 9th for a post cruise stay. Pre cruise was Hotwire @$104 plus fees.
-
I found the same thing. It appears that Hotwire is not showing a San Pedro hotel. If they have one available they show it as San Pedro. I would not suggest trying Hotwire until it shows San Pedro. Looks like Priceline is listing the CP at $176. That is rather high and an indication of why you are not having sucess.
-
Wow that is a great price! I've been trying for the CP in San Pedro forever now and I'm up to $95 with no success. I'm scared to go much higher because I don't want to get the Doubletree. (The Crowne is always listed as slightly lower in price.) We need 4 rooms too. I think in the end we're going to have to book the non-refundable internet rate of $144. :(
There is a report here of $97 for the CP. Even at $97 you will be saving off the posted rate of $144. Keep trying. Also the 3.5 star on Hotwire is usually the CP.

I couldn't imagine wearing a seapass card as a necklace. Yuck.
Guys are you listening....necklace...get it off your neck and put it in your pocket.
-
On the ship I carry it in my pants pocket. While on shore it is in my wallet.

Where is the purser's desk?
Also commonly know as the Guest Relations Desk on RCL ships. On Voyager and Freedom Class ships it is deck 5. Radiance Class deck 4. Vision Class deck 5.

Seems there are many more positive reports than negative. The scanners will pick up the metal caps on most liquor bottles so the plastic rum runner is a better way to go.

Any clues as to what the 4.5 star hotels are on last minute travel. Showing a rate of $81 for Oct. 1st. Looks like a great rate for a 4.5 star. Thanks.
I guess I should have added ...for Ft. Lauderdale.

We never would have thought to visit the Walmart but on out last cruise a crew member was telling us that they have a section where you can get a great ice cream sundae made. That kind of perked our interest so maybe our next trip will include a visit to Walmart.

A rule of thumb is 10-15% of the price for the tour guide and a dollar or two for the driver.....
Where can one find this rule?
