  1. And as has been pointed out that $50 off actually became a $45 difference.
  2. We had a port cancelled last summer by NCL prior to the cruise. We had bought an excursion. I called to get the money I paid credited back. I was first told that we would be getting a nonrefundable credit, and I should be grateful because they did not have to give anything for a cancelled port. I said no I was asking for money back I had already paid, not a credit for a missed port. The representative then told me that she had to consult another department. When she came back, she credited my card back explaining that what in effect was being done was we were cancelling the excursion and were within the time limit allowed for doing that and getting it refunded. All references to cancelled excursions going to refundable onboard credit actually are true for when this happens on the ship, not pre-cruise.
  3. There is an old saying that when the possible answers are always, sometimes and never, go with sometimes. On our Prima cruise last summer, the $50 came off first on the excursion booked pre-cruise and came off last after the 10% on the trip to the airport that included a stop at a museum. That was purchased on the cruise very near to the end of the cruise.
  4. 🤣 I think once upon a time I had you on my ignore list, but now that you are a good boy again, I can learn from your posts. 🤣
  5. Does the EES serve the purpose of checking how many days you spend in the EU? If so, will the cruise lines do something for both checking you in and checking you out of the EU?
  6. I think the cruise lines will always say it is the passenger's responsibility to have all necessary travel documents.
  7. On the NCL Prima last summer, I managed to speak to one of the musicians who played in the lounges (a singer/guitar player) as he was leaving the theater (for someone else's performance) and asked what it was like to play in front of people who paid no attention. He just shrugged.
  8. That really sucks! Also, were those who were buying the charter from the travel agency informed that the charter might not happen if not enough cabins were sold?
  9. On our Prima cruise this past summer, we had an excursion in Alesund that we purchased prior to the cruise. I in effect got $45 off (see the math as done by @PATRLR). On the cruise DW decided we were not going to spend lots and lots of time at the airport, so we bought an NCL excursion that ended at the airport. For this I did get the full $50 off as the 10% was applied first.
  10. I pointed that out once previously, and for my efforts I got really flamed! 😒
  11. I hope you are right, but I am still wondering how it would have worked for us last summer if its implementation had not been delayed when we flew to the UK for our cruise and our first cruise stop was in the EU.
  12. I CAN'T GET NO SATISFACTION. Oh wait, instead I will accept your compromise in the spirit it was offered.
  13. On our first NCL cruise the camp kids with their counselors watching were diving into the pool despite a no diving rule.
  14. Yes, that was what we were dealing with until we were saved by a postponement of the requirement.
  15. Even less expensive for us as I am above 70. And depending on whether you need to pay at 70 or not DW would either need it or not.
  16. Yes, we ended up not needing it last summer or in the spring of this year when we flew to Amsterdam for a river cruise.
  17. Interesting mention that you will not be allowed to get on the plane without the ETIAS. Before they delayed it, I had asked our TA about it for our cruise last summer that started in the UK and then went to other European countries. He mentioned that the airline would require it citing a similar law for IIRC Australia. I then mentioned we were not flying into a country that needed the ETIAS, but to Heathrow in London. At that point, he basically said to wait and see and then they delayed it once again.
  18. I noted in post #20 in this thread that my DW found a much cheaper fare for a cruise we really wanted and when I gave our regular TA the quote, he tried and could not match it as he said the cruise line would not sell him a block of cabins. But I went back after that to our regular TA. I like being a name, not what is your customer number. He also gives us great information based on his long experience as a TA and the cruises he has taken. And his prices are generally very competitive. He told me when we booked a cruise with him the next year that he understood saving a bunch of money and that he was grateful that we were back booking with him.
  19. I still say $50 off the first passenger is not FREE by any definition of the word FREE.
  20. I do not know. I do know that the travel agent we usually use has in the past bought blocks of cabins. Another time when my DW saw a very good price and I asked if he could match it, he could not and said that the consolidator who gave that price must have bought a block of cabins and the cruise line would not sell the same to him.
  21. I guess someone at corporate made a mistake and did not wait for final payment to be due. 🤦‍♂️
  22. So your definition works when it is convenient. They do say FREE excursions. BTW, we did not take the free drinks (not free pay tips) or the free dining (not free pay tips), but did take the so called FREE excursions. But I never claimed to be normal.
  23. Yes, and sometimes they get discounted fares by buying blocks of cabins.
