Also, there is at least one excursion that has a stop at a museum before going to the airport. We did that on our cruise this past summer as DW said she did not want to spend hours and hours at the airport. (Unfortunately, our flight was delayed, so we spent hours and hours at the airport anyway. 😢 But it would have been even longer without that excursion.) There was supposed to be one other excursion that was a hike. She actually wanted that one, but it was not available. Actually, that was a good thing as the museum was fascinating, and the hike would have been extremely uncomfortable as it poured that day.

Has anyone tried the 100% vegan or vegetarian restaurant on NCL?
ontheweb replied to evag's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
We were on the Prima this past summer, and as I posted on an earlier reply in this thread, the waitstaff had no idea of what I was talking about when I asked for those menus for the next day. -
Talk about price gouging, my DW needed cough drops at the airport in Reykjavik. I finally found them and bought them charging in the local currency. When I got my cc bill, they were over $6 American money.😒 And they were not even individually wrapped and were all stuck together.

Cruises with long (overnight) port stays
ontheweb replied to KyloRen's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Never had an overnight on Carnival, but have had on other cruise lines. I think they are more common on other cruise lines. We had overnights on Princess in St. Petersburg (obviously that is not happening again) and Rosyth for Edinburgh. On NCL just last summer we had an overnight in Reykjavik. -
Please do not make it sound like there are a lot of TAs who act like the one the OP unfortunately found himself booking with.

Another question, can both people receive on board credit if both people own 100 shares? However, they should both be able to get it if they are not in the same cabin.
-
Why do they have you take your glasses off for the online picture? I realize you take your glasses off for your passport picture, but I had my picture retaken at Southampton last August at our Prima check in and was told I could keep my glasses on, just sunglasses off.

Please be serious. I asked how hard it would be to give this information to the wait staff. Why bring in any other staff? No one is going to ask about this to their steward, shop employees, purser's desk, etc.? How many guests do you really think know that they should have asked at the access desk? I know I did not. Where, other than your posts, is someone supposed to learn this? -

Thanks, but how hard would it be for them to let the wait staff know that those menus do exist? -
There were threads last year on the NCL boards about NCL doing the same thing on the Prima closing their observation deck, also for Park West. The complaints worked. The practice was discontinued, and those affected by it did receive some OBC. So, be sure and complain. Enough complaints should make them come to their senses.

Foolish, over the long haul how many excursions would they not be able to sell because the ship was unable to disembark passengers? For instance, every single Prima cruise that had Isafjordur as a port this past year had to cancel the port.

I remember reading on these boards before our Prima cruise this past summer that you could ask for a vegetarian or vegan menu for the next day and order ahead. But when I tried this the waiters would look very confused and then hand me the regular menu for the next day. This was in Hudsons, the main dining room. -
Why is it so bad that you actually get the final price you would need to pay right up fromt?
-
They kept selling excursions as if they expected to be able to dock there. We were there in August, and I see from your post the problem had not been fixed by the fall. I am not surprised.
-
Right, only if outside tenders are available. The question is why they did not equip these ships with their own useable tenders.
-
It was supposed to be ready for 2023. That obviously did not work out. 😒 It does seem odd that the older NCL ship could tender there. Maybe part of it is the size of the ship. On my cruise the captain said there were too many passengers to tender.
-
Yup, it should be obvious including being understood by the person initiating the chat. But possibly for the employee at the other end of the chat, it was not something on their script.
-
For our Prima cruise this summer, the website was showing tender for Geiranger and dock for Isafjordur. Not once did the Prima dock in Isafjordur (nor tender), but we did just walk off at Geiranger. I guess if tendering was required, we would just have had another skipped port. 😒

How about the elementary school children? Give them a crack at it. -
Isn't it on your cruise card? OOPS, oh wait, you have a medallion, not a cruise card. 🤣🤦♂️

How frequent are missed Ports of Call?
ontheweb replied to 12college's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
Oceana cruise line is owned by NCL. If you go to the NCL boards you will read that Norwegian misses more ports than any other line. On our NCL cruise this past summer we missed 2 ports, Zeebrugges (for Brugge) and Isafjordur which was missed on every single cruise this past summer by the NCL Prima. -
Just got screwed out of nearly $500 can.

DW and I were very happy to be seated apart the one time we were apart on an airplane. Our cruise was 2 days late getting to Fort Lauderdale due to a hurricane. Obviously our original plane trip back to JFK was not happening. We got the last 2 standby seats on the first flight back after we checked in at the airport. We survived.
