  1. Maybe a zebra hunter is unfortunately the type of doctor my DW should use. 🤦‍♂️
  2. I really doubt that look at that sort of detail. Perhaps @Ferry_Watcher who does that check in job at I believe Seatle could respond with a definitive answer,
  3. She was actually prescribed 5 pills to take one a day. But after the first, she had the opposite of constipation and never took the others. BTW, the doctor at home said those were over the counter drugs in the USA despite being prescription drugs in Europe. By the time she ended in the emergency room and the hospital, she just wanted the persistent, awful gas pains to go away.
  4. Yes, I remember that quotation about "zebras" when dealing with an out of the ordinary medical diagnosis the first time this happened to DW.
  5. We have to get there someday. Way back 20 or so years ago we had a river cruise roundtrip Amsterdam that was chartered out after we made final payment. And this month it was cancelled from our cruise because NCL said the low tide was only 1 foot! We really had that port planned out. We have been talking about maybe just doing it as a land vacation. Before the port was cancelled, I had worried that museums would be closed as we were going to be there on a Monday, a day that European museums often close. But I found enough open to make DW happy, plus a French Fry Museum. The concept of a museum devoted to french fries definitely intrigued me. Thanks for the pictures.
  6. Yes, it is a rare condition, I understand that as we found that out a previous time that she actually had that back in the 1990s. They think they can drain it now. Last time she had an operation. Her doctor the first time back in the 1990s was very apologetic, but after we understood how rare it was, we really did not need an apology from him. It's only Dr. House on tv who always figures it out it must be something rare rather than looking for the much more usual causes.
  7. As I wrote previously, this was our first on a cruise but third visit overall. The first time was supposed to be a Christmas/New Years river cruise from Amsterdam. It was chartered out from under us, and we ended up flying to and staying in Amsterdam, not quite a week IIRC. The next time was part of a land trip, 3 days in Paris followed by 3 days in Amsterdam. We actually landed in Paris on our wedding anniversary. 😊 Going from Paris to Amsterdam was actually the only time we ever have had missing baggage (1 out of 2) from an airline. 😒
  8. If you read my thread about this cruise, you will have read how DW went to the medical center on the sea day between Norway and Iceland for constipation. She was examined and give a prescription. Still felt bad when we got home, and her doctor basically did the same thing except told her to get an over the counter drug. Well it turns out that as it was not as bad yet, they both missed what was really happening. She had a blockage. She ended up yesterday with first an ambulance, then an emergency room visit, and finally a hospital check in. If this had progressed faster or the shipboard doctor really found out what was the problem (needed a CAT scan to find it), I can't imagine how much pf a hassle medical transportation back to the USA from Iceland would have been. It definitely would have made us at least thankful for having insured the trip.
  9. I remember reading previously of your experience which is why when they wanted to give me OBC for our prepaid excursion in Brugge when they cancelled the port due to low tides before the cruise, I insisted on having the money returned to my credit card.
  10. Ok, but then the question should really be when can you get off the ship, not the definition of arrival time.
  11. This was our 3rd time in Amsterdam, though first on a cruise. So, I guess we have a different opinion of whether Amsterdam is worth seeing more than once.
  12. OP back again. I remember posts where it was said you could ask for a vegetarian or vegan menu for the next day and order in advance from it. I tried (we eat vegetarian and fish) and was only given the regular menu. They mark what is vegetarian, but if you were vegan, Three Cheese Ravioli is hardly a choice. I did decide to go vegan one night in the buffet and took a little of several things. After sampling I decided that the sesame spinach with tofu was really good. I left the vegetarian lo mein on my plate, and went and took more of the spinach dish. That surprised DW as I usually leave spinach eating to her.
  13. Just remember the man who developed it, became the President of Princess. It is obviously a high priority. 🤣🤣🤣
  14. What you cannot buy in NY State is CFAR insurance. The NY state Insurance Commissioner has ruled that this is not really insurance as it does not cover a risk.
  15. No, the port is on the posted itinerary, but the ship has not gone there on any of its cruises! They either have an extra sea day like we did (our original itinerary had 8 ports and 2 sea days, but we ended up with 6 and 4) or on some cruises I have read they spent an extra day at another Iceland port. If you call the NCL 800 number for excursions, they will sell an excursion there as they always seem to cancel the port late in the process.
  16. Same cruise, and the yoghurt was available those last days. I also could not find the containers of yoghurt that had been there on previous days for breakfast. I asked where is the yoghurt, and was told to go around the corner to the grill. No containers, but there was both blueberry and plain yoghurt that you could scoop out plus small bowls to put it in.
  17. We are off the Prima not quite a week now, and there was no sticker for going to your muster station. We ended up with a sea day between 2 ports in Iceland and immigration was on the ship. Passengers were told to see them (times called by decks), and there was a blue sticker put on your cruise card after you saw them and had your passport stamped.
  18. And yet the Captain of the NCL Prima at least 1000+ passengers less than the NCL Epic says we can not tender in Isafjordur because there are too many passengers.
  19. OP back. I remember one other activity we participated in, dance lessons. DW did several, I did a few. They did seem to get more popular towards the end of the cruise.
  20. Yes, you do not have to count those things in the amount of money you insure because they are refundable, not at risk.
  21. Yes, but probably better than speculation on a cruise forum.
  22. Things are very different I am sure from when we did a Baltic cruise for our 30th anniversary in 2007. St. Petersburg where we spent two absolutely 2 wonderful days is obviously no longer on any itinerary. Very few cruises had Oslo. In fact, the one we did had Oslo, but only every other cruise as it alternated with the port for Berlin. One Baltic port you may be less familiar with but is truly fantastic is Tallinn, Estonia.
  23. It would be a HUGE surprise if they did go to Isafjordur. 😢 On the August 6th cruise, we also missed Brugge (due to an extremely low tide.) 😢😢
  24. Possibly you could get a more definitive answer by asking the crew members when disembarking at a port.
