  1. typical American attitude about tipping
  2. you don't, anymore than you tip the cook in a hotel.
  3. Similar to what happened to us. A scooter driver ran over my wife's foot, resulting in several broken bones, major surgery, and loss of mobility for months. The driver was drunk at the time and had been observed on several occasions running into people from behind and yelling "scooter coming thru, get out of the way"
  4. Thank you! It's about time somebody said that. We totally agree.
  5. Same as every hotel we stay in. This is your opinion, nothing more
  6. We've sailed out of the UK numerous times and have never seen formal attire enforced. What cruise did this happen on?
  7. of course they relented, after all, PINS..........
  8. That's a very good question and a real concern. If she has never driven a scooter make her practice before the cruise. Otherwise she could injure guests or herself.
  9. You need to be more specific, where do you disembark?
  10. No, private transfers can be extremely expensive
  11. There is no such transfer. The best way to get to Rome is by train. Or transfer to Bologna airport and fly.
  12. Yes and Yes. It was confiscated and returned.
  13. Take the train from Ravenna to Bologna, trains run approximately every hour and arrive at Bologna central. Don't stay near the airport, hotels in the city center are much better.
  14. Not to mention the folks around you getting tired of the constant racket.
  15. you might want to do a little research before making that statement.
  16. good question, sure doesn't sound like any research happened
  17. The TERMS are that the grats are not mandatory Nope, the grats are an optional expense.
  18. Tip what you want, when you want to whoever you want. Remove the auto-grats if you want. Don't let anybody guilt trip you in paying something you don't want to.
  19. NOPE, urban myth, fairy tale, nasty rumor, call it what you will again, nope
  20. Neither of these statements is true. It is VERY common for the cruise line to ask for a notarized letter from the non-traveling parent. We took our daughter and grandson on a recent cruise, his father could not go and the letter was the first thing we were asked to produce. Also, it is usually the cruise line that asks for the letter, not customs or port agent.
