  1. Good article on possibility of small ships https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/discovery-class-smaller-cruise-ship
  2. Thanks. I still think 2024 is more as jade is sailing. I didn't notice august sailings so it may be a display problem.
  3. It seems there are an awful lot of canada new england cruises this year yet 2025 there is barely anything. Will there be more ships posted for 2025?
  4. I’m wondering if other people who sailed on princess had better luck reserving a table for sharing or just showing up and requesting it. It doesn’t sound like the solo meetup works out for everyone.
  5. I am referring to princess cruise protection but unfortunately i don't believe cancel for any reason is available through bc through bcaa.
  6. Thanks! I didn't know that. So BCAA would do that? I'll check it out. Edit: I don't think BCAA has that, its just in Ontario
  7. What is not superior in canada is the cancel for any reason insurance which is what i’m interested in. Only 2 offer it that i know of manulife and tugo and its only 50%. If you know others, let us know.
  8. Thank you. I’ll try that. Getting princess plus seems pretty drastic!
  9. Thanks for suggestion though. So after i submit payment does it go to the shopping cart?
  10. Crew appreciation is a separate category so i don’t think so.
  11. I can’t recall, did anyone ask princess if they are pursuing having this insurance again? I could really use this insurance!
  12. If i spend 1200 on a travel purchase, i can get a credit card reward. The problem is my final payment is 1196.00! Can you pay over the phone so i can pay final payment and tips at same time? Or is there some way i can do this online that i’m not seeing?
  13. I'm cruising solo and interested in a shared table. But i'm wondering what happens if you request a shared table and no one wants to share. Would you be put at a private table? I'm concerned i wouldn't have any table at all. It also appears that even that its more than a year out i can book dining and i'm not sure its worth booking this early. Sorry i haven't read this whole huge long thread!
  14. I noticed hurtigruten has some departures with no single supplement however i did not investigate. https://www.hurtigruten.com/en-us/offers/solo-travel?utm_source=hurtigruten&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=HRN+email12/17/2023&email=HRN+email12/17/2023&sfmc_id=502455805
  15. I think they may have reduced prices as the pacific coastal i was looking at originally is now only 200% but i haven’t fully explored their site.
  16. Someone posted this video with a message from celebrity stating they are changing their decision. Not sure if its true or not. Hopefully we hear more.
  17. If you are retired or can pick up and go the 16 day princess antarctica cruise on jan 20 this year is not a double single supplement. For reference cost is 1700 cdn (without taxes) and 2590 with supplement. Sorry don’t know american cost but that is pretty cheap and even cheaper for americans. Is anyone else finding on cruiseplum princess doesn’t show up for solo deals? I think somethings wrong as i saw an alaskan cruise that doesn’t have the full supplement as well.
  18. One has to wonder how many solos are that this is such a big problem for them.
  19. Sorry but this is the first i've heard of a company charging over 200% like this. I've never heard of an all inclusive or any other cruise line doing this. Its a big deal. But actually a minimum spend isn't that bad an idea rather then just arbitrarily charging more than double.
  20. I'm finding it a little concerning that princess hasn't had any solo specials on cruise plum in past couple of weeks. I notice holland america actually has a 50% single supplement on an alaskan cruise which is unusual.
  21. Sorry i’m getting a little worked up here. All we can do is not travel on celebrity so at least they’ve lost our business.
  22. Imagine if restaurants charged more for a solo dinner as they could make more money from a couple sitting at the same table This is a real slippery slope and i’m surprised some people are so apathetic about it. This is the first i’ve heard of a company doing this. Do people have other examples? This is huge.
  23. Solo actually is a marital status. You are not married.
  24. Just to be clear what i mean is if a disabled person was charged more due to larger room and additional servicès provided, that would be discrimination. (Note i'm not a lawyer just did research on discrimination by family status for a pension issue i have,) A quick google shows there is discrimination by family status for employment in florida https://www.turnpikelaw.com/what-is-and-is-not-marital-status-discrimination/ Also i discovered you can’t discriminate by marital status in alberta The Alberta Human Rights Act (the Act) prohibits discrimination based on the grounds of family and marital status There is hope!
